How much rent?

MidnightBloom · 24/01/2025 23:56

Me and dh were just talking about how much private rent is these days. I was shocked when dh said private rents for a three bedroom house would be around £500 per month uk wide Confused

How much is private rents roughly in your rough area (put this because I understand people don't want to say there location)

Am I being unreasonable to say private rent for a 3 bed would be around 1k uk wide?

You are not being unreasonable your dh is right.

Out of curiosity, how much would something like this cost in London? I don't live in Leeds, but I am from West Yorkshire and I just did a screenshot off Rightmove because I'm interested. If I've broken any rules Mumsnet, I apologise.

I'm paying £546 a month for a room in a HMO.
The government should be building the old style terraced housing with communal car parks instead of letting house builders build expensive middle class houses.

bridgetreilly · 25/01/2025 00:59

Well, I found 3bed houses on Rightmove from £450 up to £2500 per month. Perhaps you could just introduce DP to the internet?

It hugely depends on what part of London. Would range from £3000 to £10,000

I doubt there is anywhere in the whole uk where you could get a three bedroom house for £500 a month.

HereForTheAnimals · 25/01/2025 01:02

Wow. Thanks for sharing that 🤣😭

My friends live in a 2 bed, 1 bathroom and a huge kitchen and a medium sitting room with a massive front garden and a huge back garden for £375 per month.

Oh, how I wish I could just pick my house, drive and gardens up and move it all to London. I'd sell it and move back up north extremely wealthy 🤣

PerkyGreenCat · 25/01/2025 01:08

@HereForTheAnimals I suppose it depends where abouts in London. Hendon is showing as being £3500-£5997 pm for a 4 bed detached house. Other areas were showing as £7-10k which is crazy!!!

There's one on there that is so open plan it looks like one of those modern restaurants where you sit on top of the kitchen.

NikkiAlexander · 25/01/2025 01:14

A room bills inc here is 850 per month, 2 bed around 1200 and 3 bed 1500 ish

ThatUniqueKoala · 25/01/2025 01:16

£500 pcm for a three bed is ridiculously cheap, suspiciously cheap. I pay £875 for a 3 bed.

It reminds me of the hotel in The Shining, so I'll take my 800 quid and pay for something cosy tyvm

I live in a deprived area in north of England you could get a rundown 2 bed terrace in a rough area for about £500 per month. We recently rented a small 3 bed in a ok area for £1000 per month. Over the road from us a large 4 bed detached house is being rented for 2.5k a month.

SilvieBear · 25/01/2025 01:41

Small 3 bed terraced house, SE London, zone 2, £2500 p/month.

SilvieBear · 25/01/2025 01:43

Most expensive is a 6 bed detached, on at £7k p/mth! Same area.

46mumof6 · 25/01/2025 01:44

I pay £980 for a small 3 bed terrace cottage in a village in Suffolk. A 3 bed semi detached house in my nearest towns are around £1300/1500 a month
