Me and dh were just talking about how much private rent is these days. I was shocked when dh said private rents for a three bedroom house would be around £500 per month uk wide

How much is private rents roughly in your rough area (put this because I understand people don't want to say there location)

Am I being unreasonable to say private rent for a 3 bed would be around 1k uk wide?

You are not being unreasonable your dh is right.

£1200 pm for a basic 2 bed flat in the North West. Yes, there are cheaper areas but they're generally (not always!) shitholes.

Tell him to check the Rightmove rental listings.

I live in a fairly nice area in West Yorkshire and a 2 bed semi on my road would be around £800 per month, which I think is ridiculous because my mortgage isn't even that.

Southeast - A room in an HMO would be around £700 to £1k in my area.

Your DH is delulu if he thinks £500 gets you a three bed house all over the UK.

Actually just rightmove checked and its between £1750 and £3000 (!) depending on which part of town and it isn't London!!

Well a quick check for Glasgow shows rent for a 3 bedroom starts at £895 and goes up to £3000. There will be cheaper in some areas (and there is one at £6500). Mostly flats not houses.

About £2000 here for a three bedroom house.

North of Scotland. £900 for a 3 bed, unfurnished. That’s in the countryside. If you wanted nearer a town, it would be more like £1500. It’s not the cost though, it’s the complete lack of availability.

We recently moved from between zone 1-2 London. My old area, a 3 bed, detached house or even a flat would average £4,000 a month!
My new area, SE, 2hrs from London is about £2,000 a month.

Anywhere between £2000 - £2300 for a 3 bed rent.

Yes j live in a deprived area in the Welsh valleys and the 3 beds are £750 plus here.

My one bed in a not particularly amazing bit of zone 3 in London would be at least £1k.

I was paying £750 to rent a tiny one bed house near here over 15 years ago.

We are in the SE and the cheapest 3 bed within 1/2 mile of us is £1400 , and that is a very small 3 bed . Your husband lives in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks that he could get much for £500 .

I was shocked too when I looked on rightmove to get an idea! We lived in a flat DH bought 25yrs ago. We both have decent wages, but no way could we afford to rent or buy in that area now- and its not even Chelsea/Mayfair etc!

The £ on this thread for private rents is absolutely insane!

£1,400 plus here and that's a small one on a just ok estate

£1000 would possibly get you a very small 1 bed flat where I am if you're fast & lucky, 3 bed house £1800+

A one bed flat is usually around £1700

A 3 bed house is around £2600. Although I have some really nice roads near me and a quick right move search just now showed a 3 bed for £6500…
