AIBU to be fed up with all the Keir Starmer threads

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/01/2025 17:56

It's giving me flashbacks to 2016 when there were about 20 threads a day saying nonsense like, "AIBU to be concerned about the EU's plans to conscript everyone into an EU wide army?"

Just put a sock in it, already.

So you thought you'd make another one 🙈

Didimum · 22/01/2025 17:57

Couldn’t agree more and was literally thinking this about 3 seconds before your post popped up.

Be prepared for the ‘just scroll on’ brigade.

northstars · 22/01/2025 17:58

YABVU for starting one yourself. 😐

EveryDayisFriday · 22/01/2025 17:58

The Russian/ US AI bots have been very busy trying to de stable the UK.

Anniedash · 22/01/2025 18:00

It tells you how unhappy people are with this bunch of morons who have stumbled into government. This country is finished. There wasn’t much left by the Tories anyway, but now it’s well and truly finished.

This is exactly the tone of the threads I am talking about.

@Anniedash well as a Trump fan you are hardly going to be saying looks fine to me!! Personally I agree with him on most things so far

Redrosesposies · 22/01/2025 18:17

If he wasn't such an incompetent knob (him and his incompetent cabinet who are like a bunch of know it all uni students playing politics) there would be no need for such posts would there?

Kebabbky · 22/01/2025 18:18

It’s really easy… you just go on active conversations and hide them.

HRTQueen · 22/01/2025 18:19

Mmm … sure you are and it makes perfect sense to start another

Indeed this.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 22/01/2025 18:22

I mean at least it is a change from the VAT on school fees threads. I imagine if we could see a venn diagram of "Mumsnet posters who are cross about paying VAT on school fees" and "Mumsnet posters with a massive grudge against the Labour government" the intersection would be almost total.

Vaxtable · 22/01/2025 18:22

It’s free country. People can post what they like

just scroll on past

AlbertCamusflage · 22/01/2025 18:26

We need a special topic. Could just be called Starmer, or could be broadened to Pavlovian Politics for Knuckle Draggers

I presume you vote Reform? Can you highlight parts of their manifesto which would have helped?

StuffedFullOfFromage · 22/01/2025 18:31

@MissScarletInTheBallroom

Just because you happen to not agree, doesn't mean people can't post FFS!

head to bluesky whilst you can still agree with everyone else on there

Echobelly · 22/01/2025 18:36

I'm not exactly a fan of Starmer but I find newspapers and people online trying to present the Labour government as some kind of disaster that's in utter disarray pathetic. Yes they're disappointing and wrong about a lot of things but they are still 100% better than 14 years of Tory rule, which really was a disaster from Brexit onwards and is still responsible for the vast majority of this country's problems now.

It's the catastrophic tone that does my head in.

No, the Labour government isn't going to collapse in its first year. Neither is the economy. None of that happened after Brexit, none of it will happen under a Labour government.

It's like these posters are reading off a script.

Admin task, my arse lol.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 22/01/2025 19:21

Yanbu, there's so many of them

orangewasp · 22/01/2025 19:49

Agree. He's a seemingly decent, intelligent person with a plan and doing a reasonable job so far. The catastrophic tone on posts should be reserved for where they're needed - Trump for a kick off.

Cattenberg · 23/01/2025 01:08

It is getting a bit weird now. All these threads speculating that Keir Starmer will resign soon. Why would he? Labour won the election only four months’ ago with Starmer at the helm and they have a huge majority. Unlike say, Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss, Starmer isn’t what some people call “an unelected PM”.

The idea that Trump (and Musk) might force Starmer out of office is weirder still. If that does happen, we can say goodbye to our democracy and enjoy being a puppet state of the US. The strangest thing of all is that there are (supposedly British) Mumsnet posters who would welcome this.

Fleetheart · 23/01/2025 01:14

He is one million times better than the preceding chaos- and also there are some seriously competent people working with him. Yvette cooper for one. The media are doing their best to misrepresent a lot of good work. was never going to be easy or an overnight job. Why can’t they just shut up and actually pull together to try and improve this country rather than to try and destroy it.
