I saw something on tiktok today that said 'Carrie was to Big what Janice was to Chandler' 👀👀😬

I rewatch it all the time tbh, it's my fave show but now that Gen Z have found it, there are a lot of hot takes available online

What do people think of Carrie, now that 20 years have passed? Who's your fave? x

I found it entertaining at the time but now it does seem pretty awful! The films really harmed any revival it could have had - dreadful!

CorbyTrouserPress · 10/01/2025 21:10

I think it was a pile of shite then and is still a pile of shite now.

What was wrong with the films for you?

I think, as woke as i am, the revival has been ruined by woke 🥺

Edit - and no Samantha

I loved it at the time (20 when it came out) but always detested Carrie.

JenniferBooth · 10/01/2025 21:12

It hasnt aged well............particularly when Miranda gets shamed for simply having pubic hair

SundayNightBluesAreHere · 10/01/2025 21:12

Not helpful in the slightest but I've never seen it, which I feel may be not the norm for a mid-40s woman.

fashionqueen0123 · 10/01/2025 21:13

I loved it at the time and love it now. But some of the new storylines are pretty ridiculous. I wonder if they’ll tone it down in the next series. I’d ratch watch old episodes if given the choice. I have the box set.

x2boys · 10/01/2025 21:14

I think that big wasent all that into Carrie but he did grow to love her she wasent the love of his life but he was the love of hers.

fairytailcat · 10/01/2025 21:16

I still love it and rewatch from time to time

The films were shit but we dont talk about those

Pleaseletmegohome · 10/01/2025 21:16

Carrie is a narcissistic pain in the arse and Big was always honest about who he was.

The clothes could be fabulous.

The first film was ok. The second was beyond horrific.

SJP was clearly jealous and insecure about the superior actor that is Kim C and began to use her role as Exec to undermine the character / actress towards the end of the series and it’s REALLY highlighted in how Sam became a caricature in the 2nd movie.

AJLT is shite without Sam.

Aiden is a controlling creep.

ETA: still watch it though!

I've never seen it either, although I'm older than you.
I had no interest in watching it.

username299 · 10/01/2025 21:18

I've never liked it. It was about a bunch of self absorbed narcissists. Carrie was extremely irritating.

Simplepink · 10/01/2025 21:20

It’s of its time. I might rewatch them all after seeing this post!

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 10/01/2025 21:20

It was okay originally, could take it or leave it. Looking back on it now, with today's hindsight and it was pretty darned awful. The characters were vacuous and parodies of women.

HRTQueen · 10/01/2025 21:21

I loved it at the time and stlll enjoy watching the odd episode but found Carrie very annoying as the series went on

liked the first film the second was just embarrassing

the new series is awful and Samantha always stole the scenes

it was of it’s time and I loved it

never watched Friends (always disliked it with a passion) so can’t comment on this

Haaaaappyyynewyear · 10/01/2025 21:23

I loved it and still to tbh although like anything, it has dated. I did however, always think Carrie was a pretty rubbish friend!

ForeverinBJ · 10/01/2025 21:24

Loved it then, still love it now

NoGwenItsABoxingDayTrifle · 10/01/2025 21:24

Holy crap I can't believe sex and the city is 27 years old!!
It's cringey to admit but I remember one of the last episodes Carrie tells Alexander Patrovzski that She looking for Big can't live without each other love.. And then Big shows up and she gets her happy ever after. This is literally how imagined love being (I was late teens) It was all so silly and dramatic. I still enjoy watching it though, I love Carries entire wardrobe. Have you watched the spin off show, The Carrie diaries. I enjoyed this aswell.

Littlecaf · 10/01/2025 21:26

Loved Sex and the City - still do. The films are so awful that they are brilliant.

Nitgel · 10/01/2025 21:27

I still watch when it's repeated and still love.it.

Never seen the carrie diaries, is it based on her when she was younger though?

Im the same tbh, definitely the product of romcoms as I also expect someone like big 🤭

He'd have to want me though

Loved it. Still love it for a nostalgia burst. But Carrie was horrible. Like when she expected Charlotte to sell her engagement ring to buy her a house. Wtf.

7ft1garysson · 10/01/2025 21:28

Loved it at the time, I haven’t watched it for a while. Always found Carrie very irritating though

She was awful - when she forced Charlotte to sell her ring from her marriage to trey (which I've just learned is the name given to the third generation of the original man, ie great grandson)
