Should she replace it? Part 3

1000 replies

Langarg · 02/01/2025 19:09

I can’t believe we have a part 3 🤣 this has provided some lighthearted entertainment at a time where I’m feeling really let down by someone I considered a good friend. So thank you! I have posted an update on thread 2, will post it here also.

I have sent the following text message ‘Having reflected on what you have said, how the airwrap was lost/broken or otherwise is irrelevant. I considered asking you for pictures of the broken airwrap or asking to speak to your sister to ask her what happened but it will get us nowhere. All that matters is I am down a Dyson airwrap and I want a new replacement. You’ll need to either transfer me the £399 tonight to pay for this or purchase it yourself from boots and send me the email receipt this evening. You can then sort out with your sister whether she is going to contribute to the cost of it. We can then put this behind us’

I have no interest in maintaining the friendship after this for obvious reasons. I am worried that she’s seen the thread (how can she not have 🤣) and knows this fine well so will have no intention of replacing it sadly.

I don’t think I’ll ever get the truth (was there even a wedding at this rate?! 🤣) all that matters to me now is getting a replacement airwrap!!!!

Perfect response!

ShesNotACowShesAFox · 02/01/2025 19:10

Ooh I read thread 1 didn’t know there was a thread 3! So hang on - it’s not lost it’s broken?!

someone has probably said this but is that not just a ploy to get you to claim on insurance? Does she have bouncy lovely hair all the time by any chance?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 02/01/2025 19:11

Still following

AhBiscuits · 02/01/2025 19:11

Great text.
She is the queen of the CFers. No chance of her having £400 knocking about so who knows what she'll do.

Gerrysmum · 02/01/2025 19:11

Great response, don't give her any more room for lies and excuses. Really hoping you get a new airwrap delivered tomorrow!

Slobberchops1 · 02/01/2025 19:12

I don’t see how knocking a bit of wine on a hair dryer would break it . Anyway she’s a liar and hope you get a new one on the post . Let’s just hope it not being delivered on evri

Heidi2018 · 02/01/2025 19:13

I think I'm the only person who believes the wine on the airwrap story, as a person who often sips a wine while doing my hair and makeup for a night out 😅 I don't think making up another story would be of any benefit to her at this stage, she knows OP wants a replacement. But totally agree it doesn't matter what happened it at this stage, she needs to replace it, end of! Well done on your message to her. She better sort it tonight.

BambinaCucina · 02/01/2025 19:13

Perfect message!

I feel really rotten for you.

CoverMySoul · 02/01/2025 19:13

If she's reading this, she KNOWS that everyone knows what a lying POS she is, and yet she keeps on lying! Unreal!

Merryoldgoat · 02/01/2025 19:13

@Langarg

One of the few perfect threads out there.

Shamelessly waiting for updates.

Noodlehen · 02/01/2025 19:14

I really don’t see how a glass of wine would break the air wrap. Unless she managed to spill it into the filter part. I regularly wash the top parts and I use a wet cloth on the filter, as Dyson themselves told me to.

ThejoyofNC · 02/01/2025 19:14

OP I said this on the. Previous thread but please only accept the money from her and buy it yourself. She will definitely try to scam you with a fake/used replacement.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 02/01/2025 19:14

👀 👀 👀 Following! Have just scrolled through the first 2 threads and cannot believe the cheeky fuckeriness of it all.

Onlynavy · 02/01/2025 19:16

This is beyond exciting… following keenly

Gerrysmum · 02/01/2025 19:16

I have a new theory - CF did lend the AW to her sister, the sister has told CF 'it's broken' but has kept it, leaving CF to replace it and tell the OP

RadioCountdown · 02/01/2025 19:17

🍿

Rocksaltrita · 02/01/2025 19:17

Can’t believe she still hasn’t replaced it!

OurDreamLife · 02/01/2025 19:18

Oh well. Her and her sister can pay half then.

VodkaCola · 02/01/2025 19:18

Perfect response. We'll done OP.

Now let's see how she responds, or if she responds at all.

Vinvertebrate · 02/01/2025 19:19

I am struggling to see how you spill wine in a way that kills a Dyson Airwrap… all the gizzards I use on mine are pretty “enclosed” and you’d have to be aiming at the filter part to do any damage. Cynical about story #2 here.

Snowmanscarf · 02/01/2025 19:20

Waiting for the update…

MillyGoat · 02/01/2025 19:20

shamelessly commenting to follow!

Bettyspants · 02/01/2025 19:20

i completely understand your frustration , I’ve wanted an air wrap for bloody ages! But I really think this has got out of hand.

OP yes your ‘friend’ should have been truthful from the start. She has been completely out of order in how she’s managed this and the offer of buying a second hand one. However I can almost understand her hesitation post wedding and likely having a bit of a panic over money and the feeling she ‘owed’ her sister etc.

The messages could have been much more diplomatic whilst having the same effect, you’ve clearly enjoyed the response from a few mumsnetters goading you on.
