Should she replace it? Part 3

1000 replies

Langarg · 02/01/2025 19:09

I can’t believe we have a part 3 🤣 this has provided some lighthearted entertainment at a time where I’m feeling really let down by someone I considered a good friend. So thank you! I have posted an update on thread 2, will post it here also.

I have sent the following text message ‘Having reflected on what you have said, how the airwrap was lost/broken or otherwise is irrelevant. I considered asking you for pictures of the broken airwrap or asking to speak to your sister to ask her what happened but it will get us nowhere. All that matters is I am down a Dyson airwrap and I want a new replacement. You’ll need to either transfer me the £399 tonight to pay for this or purchase it yourself from boots and send me the email receipt this evening. You can then sort out with your sister whether she is going to contribute to the cost of it. We can then put this behind us’

I have no interest in maintaining the friendship after this for obvious reasons. I am worried that she’s seen the thread (how can she not have 🤣) and knows this fine well so will have no intention of replacing it sadly.

I don’t think I’ll ever get the truth (was there even a wedding at this rate?! 🤣) all that matters to me now is getting a replacement airwrap!!!!

Changing username continuously to make it look like another person?

Still the same person, OP’s thieving friend!

On a thread you can only use one name.

Popsielady · 04/01/2025 19:55

This is an amazing thread, the only fitting way to resolve this IMO is to get this small claims case on judge Rinder. Think they cover all your costs and also of course now the public really NEED to know what actually happened? what the evidence is and also the culprits to face justice - surely this HAS to happen!!!! 😂

AlexisP90 · 04/01/2025 20:00

OMG totally forgot judge rinder. He could sort this out in MINUTES.

Seriously though OP should take this all the way. I'm so totally done with assholes getting away with shit like this because they just play the Hassle Harry and make it so awkward and annoying to resolve they hope people quit.

Don't give up on this OP.

dapsnotplimsolls · 04/01/2025 20:03

Unfortunately, I think Judge Rinder is too busy swanning around the world these days to deal with arguments over hair appliances.

'Karma police, arrest this girl, her airwaved hairdo, is making me feel ill'.

Sung by the Greek chorus aka the Mumsnet Massive.

Cry little sister from the lost boys soundtrack.

Wheretostart25 · 04/01/2025 10:33

Yep - they have it with £399 with a buy now pay off on 12 months option or she can put it on credit for £16pm with currys and free collection within an hour and delivery.

Really no excuse for your friend - there's all the options to make this work and get you a replacement.

that sounds pretty manageable even if you're skint.

SailingOnAWave · 04/01/2025 20:14

This still not resolved?!!

If this was £500 jewellery, £500 cash, or a £500 car that had been stolen or destroyed, it would be taken far more seriously than a hair gadget, despite being the same value.

yes!
I'd never spend that on a hair device, but that's not the point. the OP did, and the "friend" let her down and tried to cheat her way out of returning or replacing it.
just because for a lot of people it's a frivolous thing to spend so much money on doesn't make it okay. I'm sure people would feel better if it were a top of the range pram, a fancy stand mixer, a TV, a laptop, a good DSLR, etc.

rebus · 04/01/2025 20:23

OP! Don't let things peter out now! Send that first step pre-letter and keep the ball rolling! She's banking on two things: 1 she thinks she can wear you down and your energy will flag over time. 2 she doesn't think you will take the step to small claims court. You can do this OP! Don't stop!!!

I’d like to play the glass of wine.

Can I be the weather warning?

Can I be the weather warning?

This will have to be performed in the form of an interpretive dance

Washingupdone · 04/01/2025 20:38

The Dyson air wrap has had a complaint on a regret buying message board

the person says she borrowed one from her sister’s friend
and now it is a glorified paper weight caused by a tiny bit of wine!!??

bigkahunaburger · 04/01/2025 20:38

OP is probably dancing the night away with beautifully coiffed hair thanks to the brand new Dyson that arrived in the post this morning.

Mummykit96 · 04/01/2025 21:51

Did you get an update on your airwrap I’m invested now

You're right. MN changed this which is great. I'm glad to see it's no longer possible to do that. It used to be until recently. I haven't tested it in a while but they've stopped it. Good.

Walkerzoo · 04/01/2025 22:29

Name and shame.
