To tell DD off for vaping inside her hotel room?

I’m away for a few days in London with DD (19yo). We both have separate rooms in the hotel. DD vapes (she never smoked before vaping so she’s one of those who just took up vaping unfortunately), I tried to get her to stop when she first started vaping last year but I couldn’t so I’ve just come to accept now that she vapes and that there’s nothing I can do about it. Whilst in London, DD has been telling me that she’s been vaping in her hotel room even though the hotel says vaping isn’t allowed in the rooms. I’ve told DD off this morning for vaping inside her room but DD says I’m being unreasonable to tell her off for it because there is no one else in her room besides her so she says it’s not affecting anyone else or causing any problems so she thinks it’s fine, I also told her that the smell will linger probably but she’s insisting that the smell will be gone before the next people check in to her room, she also says that she has vaped in hotel rooms before apparently without issue. AIBU to tell DD off for vaping inside her hotel room?

To be honest, I have no idea! It was a big, fuck-off sized thing with about 30 decks (i may be exaggerating, but it seemed that way). Several restaurants that the waiters always tried to upsell, and as with all cruises, entertainment provided by those who didn't quite make the grade

Doesn’t sound like any of the cruises Ive been on with top class international restaurants and West End quality stage performances. We prefer the smaller ships

What does cruising say about a person?

That the fact they can afford to go on cruises gets up the nose of people who clearly can't? 😂

I know cruising isn't everyone's cup of tea which is fair enough - but ime the only people who go to lengths to put it down are those that are green eyed it's out of reach for them (whilst obviously insisting the opposite).

People with money just don't care what others with money spend it on.

I don’t think that’s always the case. Lots of people find the idea of most cruises v tacky. Even if they can afford it. It would be even lower on my list than camping! And I could book and pay for a cruise right now! But I would of course never share my views with anyone who was into them.

You don't know the name of the cruise lol, yea I'd say it was cheap as chips or non existant, otherwise you'd be shouting from the rooftops🤣 Every person knows cruises aren't cheap and I've been on plenty, have a nice day and try keep away from those dreadful vapers!! They can pop up when you least expect it and poison you with the horrendous fumes xx

Come back when you've found your punctuation and spelling functions. You post may make more sense then.

Also, I don't care if people vape or smoke, so no idea where you got the idea I was worried about poisonous fumes. I care that they do it in places where it is forbidden, but are so up themselves they think the rules don't apply to them.

NotRightNowPlease · 19/12/2024 08:22

A vape can set off a smoke detector, just as deodorant, insects, steam or smoke can. Anything that interrupts the LED that is beamed across the chamber will activate the alarm (Assuming it's an optical smoke detector). The fire alarm control panel will give them an address of the activation or at the very least a zone (likely to be an address in an hotel).

So sorry, didn't realise you were correcting the grammar, I would have tried a bit harder 🤣

How embarrassing that even adults think they can stay out in a hotel and ignore the rules also.

If you remove the words even, out and also from your post it makes more sense.

I don't get what you mean.

I don't get what you mean.

It would then read: How embarrassing that adults think they can stay in a hotel and ignore the rules - which is perfect.

People just stay "in hotels" rather than "out in" them. And the "also" is redundant because you're not adding to anything.

Unless you're a bit slow on the uptake you can read it, actually don't bother reading it, I really couldn't care less🤣enjoy your evening

Another one that has to resort to pointing out grammar and spelling mistakes, pathetic 🤣

Well, if you are content with lazy punctuation and sentence structure, that's all good for you.
It' dechiperable, but tedious.
Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you too❤️

She's an adult, its her call if she wants to bend a (ridiculous) rule. It's vapour, the same as steam from a shower or a boiling pot. Vaping shouldn't be prohibited akin to smoking, the two aren't comparable.

It's dreadful that such a valuable tool for quitting smoking has been hijacked by unscrupulous vendors.
