"Mumsnet Karens" They sound nice.

FergusSingsTheBIues · 25/10/2024 07:35

Bet Shannon’s not laughing.

nothingcomestonothing · 25/10/2024 07:37

You think a child being abused is funny? Or you think the producer of an 'entertainment' about that abuse calling women a misogynistic slur is funny?

MaryBerrysEyelashes · 25/10/2024 07:38

There have been musicals about worse
French Revolution, er.. sweeny Todd

and ofc the movie of Cats 😩😩

So much wit must have gone into coming up with the title 'You're a peadophile".

Is this made by 12 year old boys?

MaryBerrysEyelashes · 25/10/2024 07:40

No - men ofc

It’s definitely giving ā€˜Springtime for Hitler’ vibes. And that’s not a good thing.

Sweeny Todd was fiction. And you’d be hard pressed to find someone in the audience of Les Mis who was directly impacted or traumatised as a result of the French Revolution.

Gettingbysomehow · 25/10/2024 07:42

OMG this is so tasteless. They'll be doing Lucy Letby the musical next.

Yeah none of the victims of those events were still alive at the time, where they? Shannon was a blameless girl who was abused and exploited by her mother, and is now trying to live her life in peace. What do you think her life was like, up to and during and after the events depicted in this musical? What do you think it was like for her to grow up and try to make sense of what happened to her? She's a real person going about her day right now.

Icancopealone · 25/10/2024 07:45

I don't know why you are laughing OP.
There is nothing funny about this at all.

KizzyDora · 25/10/2024 07:46

Are you the writer of the musical, OP?

MaryBerrysEyelashes · 25/10/2024 07:48

Yes. Of course I wrote it.

I have a sick sense of humour but I'm not laughing at this.

Just seems incredibly immature.

Totally agree, I’m presuming Shannon may not be finding it as funny. But then I don’t read the Daily Star for my news like the OP does so I wouldn’t know.

MaryBerrysEyelashes · 25/10/2024 07:52

Well, don’t be too snobby about it because it’s sold out at four week run at the Edinburgh festival

God, how tasteless and crass. Happy to be a Karen on this one and no, won't be watching.

holju · 25/10/2024 07:56

It's distasteful, but I suppose that's the point. Sounds like something a bored teenage boy would come up with.

Brokeneggsagain · 25/10/2024 07:57

Mumsnet Karen’s? Women on Mumsnet who have faked their child’s kidnapping?

FanofLeaves · 25/10/2024 07:57

Two years ago. I presume it’s not gained too much traction since then, thankfully. Lots of venues banned it.

Scammersarescum · 25/10/2024 07:59

So they have poor judgement and they use misogynistic slurs.

Hilarious

ItsTheGAGGGGGGGGG · 25/10/2024 08:00

What a strange post

Nursemumma92 · 25/10/2024 08:00

Disgusting, the poor girl is trying to live her life and there is a musical about her story of abuse as a child?! I can't possibly fathom why anyone would find that remotely funny!

I was at Edinburgh this year. Some festival goers would watch a labrador taking a crap if someone told them it was edgy.

There is nothing on this earth snobby about not thinking it funny that an abused and exploited child is yet being used and exploited for shit and giggles (and cash).;

I'm common as fuck with a dark sense of humour but there is a young girl at the heart of this trying to live as normal a life as possible after being severely let down by the one person whose meant to protect you no matter what. Fucking hilarious taking the piss out of an abused young woman.
