To think that adults who love Disney are immature?

I don’t get the obsession with Disney among grown adults. AIBU to think that being so into children’s movies and merchandise is immature?

Bet you’re fun at parties.

pantomanto · 01/10/2024 16:45

Oh well then, I must be immature.

I am a group accountant for 2 sister companies with around 150 staff but I can still like Disney 🙄

ItsTheGAGGGGGG · 01/10/2024 16:45

Immature? For enjoying animations? I don’t get the correlation. Should I only like horror films because I’m an adult?

Flugelb1nder · 01/10/2024 16:47

I love Disney.

vodkaredbullgirl · 01/10/2024 16:47

Fun police 😆 nothing like a good Disney film.

Windchimesandsong · 01/10/2024 16:47

I'm not into Disney myself but I enjoy other nostalgic things.

Life can be a slog at times and it's good imo for people to indulge in something, whatever it is, that gives them a bit of harmless fun and/or nostalgia.

nottodaynortomorrow · 01/10/2024 16:47

Narrow minded thinking.

I'm not a fan myself and wouldn't wear the stuff but if someone enjoys that so be it. I couldn't get myself so annoyed by it that I'd start a post on mumsnet about it.

You must have a lot of free time.

Sauvblanctime · 01/10/2024 16:44

Bet you’re fun at parties.

Honestly if i could travel back in time to the first person who said this and make sure their Mam and Dad didnt meet, I would

Every time I see that, I wonder if people are parroting that, in an ironic fashion, or they really think they are being witty

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/10/2024 16:48

Didn't we have this exact thread as recently as a month ago?

Live and Let Live

Precipice · 01/10/2024 16:48

Depends how much they like it and their other interests.

I don't see why a person who likes Disney films, Czechoslovak comedies, historical fiction novels, rowing and tennis is automatically more immature than someone with the same interests but a complete disinterest in Disney.

I don't understand the love for Disney cartoons and I've not watched many Disney properties. I don't understand the love for some other media types either. I presume their fans won't understand some of my interests either.

summersingsinme · 01/10/2024 16:49

Why do you care?

Life can be pretty bleak, if something brings people joy and it doesn't hurt others, why would anyone be bothered by it?

isthismylifenow · 01/10/2024 16:50

Oh well.

I'm in my 50s and have Disney movie fests from time to time.

It's not going to change because one person doesn't get it.

PinkyFlamingo · 01/10/2024 16:51

Ah so because you don't 'get it" you clearly thing you are superior to adults who do like Disney. Judging others from being different from you isn't a nice quality really

Ihopeithinkiknow · 01/10/2024 16:51

I'm 43 years old and love playing with Lego lol some people think when you become an adult you have drop the things you love and I say why the fuck should anyone do that. I'm not into Disney but going through the My little pony and Care Bears stage with my daughter was just like being a kid again haha. Life is too short to be miserable so if a bit of Disney makes someone happy then good for them.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 01/10/2024 16:52

I used to love going to Disneyland when DH and I lived 45 minutes away from it and it was affordable. We went six times in one year. It was pure escapism and very silly.

I am immature though.

DixonD · 01/10/2024 16:53

I love Disney but can never watch it because my 8 year old hates it and always has. It’s such a shame as there are some incredible Disney and Pixar films. The only time I could watch it is after bedtime and even though I love it, there’s something a bit odd about a grown woman watching Moana at 11pm 😂😂

stickygotstuck · 01/10/2024 16:54

@Flugelb1nder
Honestly, if i could travel back in time to the first person who said this and make sure their Mam and Dad didnt meet, I would 😂

Octavia64 · 01/10/2024 16:55

Yes I'm really immature

isthismylifenow · 01/10/2024 16:55

I think I'm on the right thread to ask this then 😃:

I saw the trailer a little while ago, and now want to go watch Wild Robot this weekend. Has anyone seen it yet?

Bagualious · 01/10/2024 16:56

I don't get the obsession to not like something but then go one step further and post about it to get some sort of validation on your thoughts, that sounds immature to me.

Personally as a lover of Disney and reading children's books like Harry Potter or young adult fiction (must be that English Lit degree I have forcing me to read all those deep thought provoking books) I like to live and let live.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 01/10/2024 16:57

I think Disney is crap tbh and I've somehow linked Disney fans with people who have "anxiety", and I do think "wtf" when I see die hard adult fans but each to their own.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 01/10/2024 16:59

Don’t be so ridiculous.
Some people who like Disney are immature. Some people who don’t like Disney are immature.

I bloody love Disney as a place, love the films and love the merchandise. I can assure you I am incredibly mature. Also, you smell like poop.

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 01/10/2024 17:00

I think it’s much more immature to be a grown adult who still hasn’t grasped the concept of people liking different things.

Boobygravy · 01/10/2024 17:00

I think a lot of adults who love Disney do so because they understand how magical it is to children.
Watching my dgs watch Mary Poppins was sharing true wonderment and joy with him for the first time. He was entranced.
