Men with boats cheat

The subject says it all!

I’ve long believed that men only buy boats to use them as floating love shacks. My friend thinks I’m being ridiculous and says boats are just a great lifestyle choice. Recently, she told me her husband is thinking of buying a boat, and I couldn’t help but give her that look! She insists he’d never cheat, but in my experience, every man I’ve known who had a boat wasn’t exactly faithful.

Honestly, if my husband bought one, I might even consider it grounds for divorce!

So, am I being unreasonable? Can men own boats without it leading to adultery, or am I totally right to be suspicious? Should men with boats just wear a t-shirt that says, "Don’t trust me?"

(For the record, this doesn’t apply to fishermen making a living or people who live on boats!)

Erm

DadJoke · 15/09/2024 21:56

You can trust men with allotments, lock-up garages or caravans, either.

Edingril · 15/09/2024 21:59

What about men that leave the house to get petrol they are so shagging the person that serves them you have to accidentally look through their phone to find details

Littletreefrog · 15/09/2024 21:59

Well you would have to have very good balance and flexibility to get up to much on the boat we have!

Whothefuckdoesthat · 15/09/2024 22:01

I think we move in different social circles 😂

ChocHotolate · 15/09/2024 22:02

Really sorry but I completely agree with the OP. I hadn't noticed until now but you are totally correct

whatshalliday · 15/09/2024 22:02

I don't think I know anyone with a boat!

DontBiteTheCat · 15/09/2024 22:02

Wait, how do you all know so many people with boats?!

By living next to the sea. I dont think the boats I know are the type OP is talking about though.

coatfromjamesdean · 15/09/2024 22:03

My lovely neighbour bought a boat, he likes to fish, puffin/whale/dolphin watch with it, no cheating.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/09/2024 22:04

For sheer batshittery this is one of the best opening posts I've ever read on MN.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Spomb · 15/09/2024 22:04

All my friends have boats. They’re all swingers so I think you’re on to something. One couple has four boats, god knows what they get up to.

FaiIureToLunch · 15/09/2024 22:05

Yep, I would say this is true … or maybe it’s because boaties tend to be loaded, confident and physical so they’re attractive to potential affair partners…?

knittingdad · 15/09/2024 22:05

Men who volunteer to do the grocery shopping are also totally just looking for an excuse to leave the house and cheat on you.

We don’t live that far from the sea. The people I know own beach balls and wind breakers.

I’ve gone wrong somewhere in life I think 😁

MonsteraMama · 15/09/2024 22:06

I think cheaters are going to cheat and don't need to spend hundreds of thousands on a boat to do so.

I know a couple of boat owners and they don't strike me as the type, they go out and fish, dive and look at dolphins.

My husband has a kayak and if he managed to cheat in that I'd honestly be more impressed than angry.

BotterMon · 15/09/2024 22:07

Do vans also count in your weird world?

knittingdad · 15/09/2024 22:07

Any DH who does the laundry is absolutely only doing it to hide his infidelity - otherwise you might catch that telltale whiff of an unfamiliar perfume, or an errant hair in a colour that doesn't fit.

Well we all know what goes on behind the windbreak.

ClockwiseHoneysuckle · 15/09/2024 22:07

This is ludicrous.

Who on earth is using an allotment for a love-shack?

HarrietSchulenberg · 15/09/2024 22:10

I only know one man with a boat. He does not cheat but he does use it to go out alone without his wife. She does pottery while he's on his boat. She does not cheat either. They are both very happy with this arrangement.
I think perhaps it's more the type of men that you know than that all boat owners are love rats.

Edingril · 15/09/2024 22:12

I thought those model train fans looked a little shifty

Businessflake · 15/09/2024 22:13

It’s pretty difficult to have a decent shag on a topper.

Franjipanl8r · 15/09/2024 22:15

Do you actually know anyone who owns a boat?! The men I know who own boats, sail them with their wives and kids. Maybe you know other types of men who own boats?!
