Men with boats cheat

Boatsandcoats · 15/09/2024 21:54

The subject says it all!

I’ve long believed that men only buy boats to use them as floating love shacks. My friend thinks I’m being ridiculous and says boats are just a great lifestyle choice. Recently, she told me her husband is thinking of buying a boat, and I couldn’t help but give her that look! She insists he’d never cheat, but in my experience, every man I’ve known who had a boat wasn’t exactly faithful.

Honestly, if my husband bought one, I might even consider it grounds for divorce!

So, am I being unreasonable? Can men own boats without it leading to adultery, or am I totally right to be suspicious? Should men with boats just wear a t-shirt that says, "Don’t trust me?"

(For the record, this doesn’t apply to fishermen making a living or people who live on boats!)

This sounds daft I'm sorry. Think you may need to see a Doctor.

Oh thanks for the advise! I'll take tomorrow and Tuesday off work just to make sure I'm well by Wednesday

My husband has owned 3 boats, though not all at once. He's claimed they were for fishing but often returns without any fish! Stupidly, I have accepted all his excuses - too windy, too sunny, tide wrong etc

Too shaggy!

Are we talking yachts or canal boats here?

Are we talking yachts or canal boats here?

The kind you see going through the locks on the Thames at the weekend.

@Ohmychristdawn

You don't really think Timothy and Prunella are up to no good do you?

My thoughts too but caravans....

Don't come knocking if the caravan is rocking!

DoloresHargreeves · 15/09/2024 23:49

Do we think canal boats count? Perhaps for a very specific type of adulterous sex...

anxioussister · 15/09/2024 23:50

Live in a community with lots of boat owners. Mostly for recreational puttering around / fishing / wake boarding.

zero correlation - many of the people that own them buy them specifically to enjoy time on the water with their families.

for sure if someone with previously no boating experience or interest suddenly buys himself a donzi then one might question his motivations the same as someone who suddenly buys a fancy car.

I think the correlation is ‘anyone who suddenly expresses interest in attractive life upgrades independently of their spouse or family’ is more likely to cheat. It’s not a boat thing!

ChipsCheeseAndGravey · 15/09/2024 23:50

My dad is a cheater with a boat, but I think he was a cheater before the boat. I’m sure the boat gets used for cheating, but now he’s not cheating on my mother I don’t wanna know because I want to go on holiday on said boat. He got the boat during what I call his 3/4 life crisis. The midlife crisis was the standard issues sports car. Maybe the boats and cheating thing is because (for some) it’s a mid life (or 3/4 life) crisis?

25soexcited · 15/09/2024 23:54

Well my husband has a yacht that he stays on a few nights a month and obviously sails it .Crikey I would eat my hat if he was shagging someone on the boat…shall report back 😆

GetawayCar · 15/09/2024 23:58

Live near a marina and know a lot of boat owners (big sailing yachts). I sail myself (DH doesn’t). I don’t know of anyone cheating on their partners. The only thing they are hiding from their partners is the money spent on maintenance and repairs!

Boatsandcoats · 15/09/2024 23:14

Yes yes absolutely yes

Like Kanye West and Bianca Censori on a boat in Venice

blueshoes · 16/09/2024 00:00

Where does a man with a tent stand?

SweetSakura · 16/09/2024 00:02

What kind of boats do you mean? If it's something like this then fair play to them tbh

Men with boats cheat
BobbyBiscuits · 16/09/2024 00:03

Haha. I had an uncle who was into outdoorsy stuff and sailing. He had a very tiny battered sailing boat at one point. Also a van with a mattress in the back. I was convinced he must have been trying to use either or both to seduce women but I never saw any evidence. The poor fella was about 80 so maybe in his youth? He did have a couple of glamorous ex wives.
I can imagine a bloke showing off that he had a boat as a chat up line, but dk if he would be necessarily a cheat?

Where does a man with a tent stand?

In a field, hunched over?

SweetSakura · 16/09/2024 00:05

I would estimate about 99% of men who work in the yachting industry cheat though. And thats a conservative estimate

(That's based on my time working in the industry and it I knew they were married i wasn't interested but I was a total rarity it would seem)

A good tackle bag is possibly a great way to get an OW interested Come aboard and look at my tackle bag - who could resist 😀

True. Way better than seeing someone’s etchings, as offers go.

SweetSakura · 16/09/2024 00:07

MonsteraMama · 15/09/2024 22:06

I think cheaters are going to cheat and don't need to spend hundreds of thousands on a boat to do so.

I know a couple of boat owners and they don't strike me as the type, they go out and fish, dive and look at dolphins.

My husband has a kayak and if he managed to cheat in that I'd honestly be more impressed than angry.

DadJoke · 16/09/2024 00:11

Whatever you do, don’t swab the poop deck.

bozzabollix · 16/09/2024 00:12

I’d like a boat but my husband has expressly said no. This is a good sign isn’t it?

Remaker · 16/09/2024 00:14

I was on jury for a drug importation trial involving several boat owners. There was a lot of CCTV footage. So I’m not convinced it’s the best place to be doing anything on the sly.

Ourdearoldqueen · 16/09/2024 00:17

I was all set to give it some YBU but no. They’re cunt the lot of them. Wobbly swinging lad-messers to a man.
