Men with boats cheat

Boatsandcoats · 15/09/2024 21:54

The subject says it all!

I’ve long believed that men only buy boats to use them as floating love shacks. My friend thinks I’m being ridiculous and says boats are just a great lifestyle choice. Recently, she told me her husband is thinking of buying a boat, and I couldn’t help but give her that look! She insists he’d never cheat, but in my experience, every man I’ve known who had a boat wasn’t exactly faithful.

Honestly, if my husband bought one, I might even consider it grounds for divorce!

So, am I being unreasonable? Can men own boats without it leading to adultery, or am I totally right to be suspicious? Should men with boats just wear a t-shirt that says, "Don’t trust me?"

(For the record, this doesn’t apply to fishermen making a living or people who live on boats!)

Tbf the only bloke i knew into sailing with a boat was disgusting and signed up to hookup sites. I don’t know if his now wife knows he had a reputation for that when she met him….I'm assuming not. So on that basis, i’d say you might be right!

Now I know why Arthur and George from Milton Keynes were so desperate to win on Bullseye. All those sad faces when Jim Bowen said ' have a look at what you could have won '

JohnofWessex · 15/09/2024 22:52

I got press ganged as a stoker, as one does - long story.

Anyway the bosun (70) like all good sailors had a girl in every port.

Trouble is though that if your daily grind is something like Bristol, Clevedon, Penarth Ilfracombe it got very very - impressive

All my friends have boats. They’re all swingers so I think you’re on to something. One couple has four boats, god knows what they get up to.

Yes I know I am and when you see it you really see it!

Men who volunteer to do the grocery shopping are also totally just looking for an excuse to leave the house and cheat on you.

Or perhaps you are not great at the shopping and they want tk mak3 sure they don't end up witb own brand pringles and sub par malbec!

We had our own boat and sailed for years as a family. I can assure you that unaccompanied men on boats fall into three categories. 1. Beardy types always banging on about fractional rigging and other ineffably dreary nautical information. 2. Boat fetishists who spend every weekend lovingly buffing and cleaning the adored floating object and 3. rejects forced to live aboard because their wives not unreasonably got fed up with living with type 1 or 2 and chucked them out. None of them ever likely to have actual sex.

Holidayhell22 · 15/09/2024 23:00

2 of dhs’s work colleagues have boats. They are both single.
I did know a man who had a boat and cheated on his wife.

Who on earth is using an allotment for a love-shack?

The same people who are apparently bedding the sexy au pair in their creaky little fishing dinghy, full of scales and tackle bags?

doodlydooo · 15/09/2024 23:01

Lol i only know one person who owned a boat... A guy I used to work with. You would have no idea he had a girlfriend of 7 years the way he was sleeping with people at work..

Any DH who does the laundry is absolutely only doing it to hide his infidelity - otherwise you might catch that telltale whiff of an unfamiliar perfume, or an errant hair in a colour that doesn't fit.

Edited

Or they sharted and wanted to save face!

I thought those model train fans looked a little shifty

They may be shifty but who wants to be the other woman for a train fan?

Do you actually know anyone who owns a boat?! The men I know who own boats, sail them with their wives and kids. Maybe you know other types of men who own boats?!

Well someone needs to steer while he is with the other woman! Very understanding wife though.

@Boatsandcoats have you watched Our Flag Means Death too many times?

justasking111 · 15/09/2024 23:10

Our marina in the summer has a flurry of actors, celebrities who drink cocktails on the terraces, we attract the fake tan, false eyelashes, pseudo glam types looking for gawd knows what.

One wealthy guy with an enormous gin palace buys champagne by the crate, women throw thenmselves at him but he's not a cheater apparently just enjoys the craic

Rewis · 15/09/2024 22:21

I mean could be true.but this is not a stereotype that I've come across. All the people I know that own boats are couples and they're almost always on the boat together.

Actually my dad boats by himself. But he stays on the lake and we can see him from the pier. I've yet to see a woman snorkeling towards the boat.

😂

It’s the people with beach huts you really can’t trust.

Oh I can absolutely see that! I don't know anyone with one though

The only bonks I associate with sailing are from the boom if you don't duck quickly enough.
