Aibu to agree to an extent?

German refugee charity warns 'integration has FAILED'

In a bombshell interview, staff at a leading youth organisation in Germany have said the continuing influx of refugees means the system is at breaking point. They called for a 'freeze' in admissions.

Immigration works if it works both ways! If I moved to many countries my religion would not be accepted, I could be persecuted & I definitely would not be able to practice my Christianity or access a church.

I thought the point of your thread was to discuss about Germany not to be Islamophobic.

Here is an article for you regarding the German education system since you asked.

What has the education system failing got to do with integration? struggling to find a link.

Lilysgoneshopping · 31/07/2024 12:40

Angela Merkels open door immigration policy.
Did anyone ask the Germans if they wanted this?

No idea, but they kept on voting for her so can't have disagreed that much

Let me guess, your cousin has fully integrated into Germany yes? But those with darker complexions somehow haven't?

No not quite, she is still struggling with the language, she is nearly fluent but not quite. It took a while to find a social network as her dc attend a German state school not one of the International schools in Munich. It was a big change for her but she has done her best to adapt.

My DS is just back from a month working all over Germany. He was surprised at the level of open hard drug use in the street in particularly Frankfurt and Essen and how it seemed to be accepted. He's spent his whole life in major UK cities and is pretty streetwise but was still shocked at that and noticeable poverty.
Also seriously unimpressed with Deutsche Bahn.
Evidently all isn't rosy, sadly.

Immigration isn’t a two way process if it was people wouldn’t bother moving. People generally move to places that give them safety, security and prosperity.

Of course you wouldn’t move somewhere that Christians are being persecuted but we aren’t discussing that. Please feel free to come over to the Conflict in the Middle East board to discuss the persecution of Christian Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

You said integration brings so much to countries. I replied yes if it works BOTH WAYS.
Never once did I mention Islam.

The poster was just politely asking what countries you have in your sights to emigrate to where you feel you may be persecuted.

Are you the type who clicks on absolutely every thread to comment ‘why is there another thread about this’?

Or the new gem ‘I can’t be arsed to engage with the racists and dog whistlers’ despite apparently doing that exact thing by your logic.

Only if there was a way to prevent yourself from being subjected to this trauma.

Honestly, MN is a like a comedy sketch sometimes.

Well, we have to keep posting our disgust at this sort of shit, otherwise the far right racists will simply be allowed to take over the site entirely. So I will keep commenting, but I'm not going to waste time and energy on engaging with people who are beyond the reach of rational argument, and I'm not going to add the advertising revenue of racist rags like the Daily Mail by clicking on your deliberately provocative links.

The far right showed us yet again last night in Southport who and what they are, showing utter contempt for the bereaved parents and for a community in shock. Forgive me if my patience for this shit is limited.

doodoodahdah · 31/07/2024 12:46

But OP, you don't live in Germany, you only get second hand moaning from your family. I live in Germany, why don't you ask me my opinion?

To quote the poster above your @TakeMe2Insanity

"Immigration isn’t a two way process if it was people wouldn’t bother moving. People generally move to places that give them safety, security and prosperity."

I may go and have a look at the Conflict in the Middle East board the poster has highlighted in their post.

This is exactly my point. I have been to Germany many times & as I said my cousin is married there. It has changed dramatically in the past 6 years. My last visit to Munich was in the Feb half term, I was shocked at the visible amount of homeless, especially elderly homeless

I'll start as the OP probably won't.

Where are you in Germany?

How do you find the trains?

LiterallyOnFire · 31/07/2024 12:49

MN is very polarised on these kinds of issues.

HowardTJMoon · 31/07/2024 12:50

Welcome to mumsnet @Mimififi !

Out of interest were you out on the streets in Southport last night, wearing a balaclava and lobbing bricks at police officers?

Well then your cousin is part of Germany’s problems!

What crap timing for this sudden concern both by the DM and you OP.

Immigration brings so much to a country. With the exception of maybe the Andaman Islands virtually all countries have ALWAYS had people moving to them. Immigration is part of all countries. Immigration is part of life. Countries don’t fail because of immigration, they fail because of poor decision makers in power.

Stop blaming people who aren’t white. Stop blaming muslims. Instead of just reading the DM read more widely, educate yourself (not EDL daily snippets) but actual books. Raise yourself.

I think we should be able to debate these issues like adults without shutting down the debate altogether with cries of ‘racism’ etc.

I support immigration and see it as a social good overall, but I think managing it carefully with better integration, more community-based assistance for migrants could help to mitigate some of the issues that Germany, the U.K. and France are currently facing.

I’m not sure what the answer is - but I don’t think its helpful to condemn people, call them insulting names or accusing them of racism for asking these questions.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 31/07/2024 12:55

I thought Christianity was supposed to be all about love and compassion, OP. Did you not get the memo?

I know some wonderful, incredible compassionate Christians that have dedicated their lives to helping people of all faiths and none, who are fleeing from war, persecution and other desperate circumstances. I don't share their views but I am in awe of their work and have enormous respect and admiration for them.

But people who wear the badge without bothering to walk the walk? I can't see the point.

lollipoprainbow · 31/07/2024 12:56

I agree with you @Mimififi but you won't get anywhere on here. The racist comments will flood in. Hence why this country is in the mess it's in because there can never be a proper discussion on the problems of mass illegal immigration.
