To get a secret one off cleaner

Husband is doing his annual 2 night camping trip with friends he's had since school.

My 1 year old is going to the farm Saturday with her Nanny & Gramps then having a sleepover.

So I've booked a one off deep clean of our home in secret, I'm going to take the dog for a 2 hour walk somewhere peaceful, come home to a clean home, open a bottle of wine in the evening, have a long hot bubble bath, order myself a Chinese and binge watch my favourite shows with chocolate that I don't have to share with anyone in my comfiest pjs and then have a sleep in on Sunday and I feel wonderful for planning this 😂

No guilt at all about not telling my DH about the cleaner, would any of you do the same?

All hail elm26

MumonabikeE5 · 14/07/2024 19:52

Great! Although I’d need more than 2 hours 🫣

Itsmecathy87 · 14/07/2024 20:23

Not gonna lie, I'm slightly jealous! Enjoy, you are truly blessed to have a lovely supportive family 💖

hummingbird14 · 14/07/2024 21:02

I aspire to be this level of genius.
Enjoy OP. This sounds wonderful

Caroparo52 · 14/07/2024 21:15

100 per cent

Moll2020 · 14/07/2024 21:24

That sounds perfect 🤩

Getonwitit · 14/07/2024 21:43

Bloody fantastic, enjoy.

Josienpaul · 14/07/2024 22:12

I do it but I don’t make it a secret. It gets on top of me and I’m part time (well part time but do overtime and 50 hours a week when I do!) plus all the kids clubs and stuff. I just pay now and again for a deep clean and it allows me to catch up on life. Don’t feel guilty and sing it from the hilltops if needed …. And most importantly. Enjoy!

Gcsunnyside23 · 14/07/2024 22:34

This sounds amazing

PearlyShamps · 14/07/2024 23:12

Good for you! Genuinely think this is a great idea :0)

SwanRivers · 09/07/2024 11:29

No I wouldn’t do the same.

I’m a grown woman, if I want to book a cleaner and relax while my husband is away relaxing, I’d just tell him I’ve booked a cleaner 🤷‍♀️

The secret is part of the fun, no?

The secret is part of the fun, no?

No, why would it be 'fun'?

The same as I don't got to work in secret, or make a cup of tea in secret.

I just do it.

100% brilliant! My husband is going away with work soon. I might do the same! Mine might take more than 2 hours though 🙈 enjoy the tranquility

MelodyFinch · 15/07/2024 00:20

Perfect! Can I come?

VeneziaJ · 15/07/2024 07:43

I have had secret deep cleaners too! Its lovely to have a fab clean house and treat yourself to down time. Go for it I say😁

pollymere · 15/07/2024 11:33

My DH would tell me it's a fabulous idea and I should enjoy the rest I deserved.

This is a wonderful plan save for the secrecy - why shouldn’t you do this? I’m assuming you’ve barely slept for a year?! You deserve time off x

Jillybloop393 · 15/07/2024 18:10

Fab plan! Keep it secret - it makes it seem more fun! Enjoy!

SpunkyMintZebra · 16/07/2024 09:24

Sounds like heaven! I may have to do this myself! I wouldn’t tell my husband as he would moan about the money side of hiring of a cleaner 🤣

RatalieTatalie · 16/07/2024 14:06

Incredible work! Enjoy!

Sage71 · 16/07/2024 14:39

Now planning when I can get my dH and 2 teenage DS’s out overnight together so I too can do this

NoThanksymm · 16/07/2024 16:28

I’d do it. I’d also tell. Then it would become a problem (as in his new addiction). So, best not to tell!

enjoy!

YANBU for plotting such a cunning plan. YABU for wiping your skirting boards down once a week. Life’s too short to deal with below eye level fluff😆 Enjoy your Chinese and lie in 🍾

Sorry just wanted to clear some bits up as it was meant as a lighthearted post!

My husband isn't abusive at all, he's a lovely man, a great father, he does chores around the house as he sees it as just as much his job as mine.

He runs his own business, he works really hard and sometimes doesn't see our DD until bedtime, so on a Saturday, he makes sure he does some one on one time with her, he'll take her to the park/swimming/soft play and that means I get a couple of hours to get house sorted and then we spend the rest of the day together and the evening relaxing together (again I don't feel like this is my duty at all but I love a clean and tidy home).

The cleaning absolutely could wait but the satisfaction I get from sitting down in a clean and tidy environment is amazing so thought I might as well enjoy it without having to do the work myself (as DH is away).

The lady who is doing the clean has been recommended by a friend so I do trust that it's fine for her to be alone in my house for 2 hours.

No it's not hideously dirty but every 6 months or so I like a deep clean so this will save me and DH a job.

The money I'm paying will come from the joint bank account, he won't bat an eyelid at me withdrawing any money nor will he ask me what it was for.

I might tell him when he's home, he'll call me a sneak (light heartedly) and we will laugh about it but for now I am feeling a little smug and excited about it 😂

Sounds great to me
