To get a secret one off cleaner

Husband is doing his annual 2 night camping trip with friends he's had since school.

My 1 year old is going to the farm Saturday with her Nanny & Gramps then having a sleepover.

So I've booked a one off deep clean of our home in secret, I'm going to take the dog for a 2 hour walk somewhere peaceful, come home to a clean home, open a bottle of wine in the evening, have a long hot bubble bath, order myself a Chinese and binge watch my favourite shows with chocolate that I don't have to share with anyone in my comfiest pjs and then have a sleep in on Sunday and I feel wonderful for planning this 😂

No guilt at all about not telling my DH about the cleaner, would any of you do the same?

Its a lighthearted thread.

But yeh feel free to tinkly laugh and head tilt at those taking it as such.

I'm surprised that you say you aren't giddy, the air must be terribly thin up there on that high horse.

Edited

Full House! Congratulations You’ve used every mn cliché there. You Missed chips & shoulders, salt with that etc
Bet that took ages, that searing précis of my head tilt, giddiness and thin air
Just because I’m not vapidly enthusing about who does the chores or the cleverness of booking secret cleaner

2 hours will be enough, it's a 2 bedroom flat and I clean it twice weekly anyway it's just my Saturday is usually a bigger clean where I wipe down skirting boards etc.

I don't know why I've kept it a secret to be honest! DH would probably laugh if I told him, I just feel guilty for spending on a cleaner when I could technically do it myself especially as I won't have my 1 year old hanging off me but I just think sometimes in life you need to have a harmless little secret that you can be smug about 😂

I can’t understand paying a cleaner, when all she’s going to be doing is what you usually do!
Shes going to be making easy money if you keep the house clean and tidy twice a week yourself

Eloisedublin123 · 13/07/2024 20:39

I adore you!

autienotnaughty · 13/07/2024 20:46

I once wanted to book a deep clean and the oven cleaned. Dh didn't want to as he felt we should just do it ourselves (mainly me as I work less hours) I booked it anyway and never told him. Made my life a lot easier!

80smonster · 13/07/2024 21:09

This is genius. How much was it? I’m thinking I’ll have one too. As a surviving the summer holidays treat.

AquaShark · 13/07/2024 21:17

This sounds an AMAZING plan!

As others have said I probably wouldn't keep it a secret and my dh would also think it genius.

Enjoy your night x

Oh the irony 🙄

Nothing more ‘mood hoovering’ than modern grown up women in full frenzy over the accomplishment of domestic work…

No wonder the husband smirked when he handed over the readies… I’m surprised he didn’t add “…and get yourself something pretty…”
ugh

circular2478 · 13/07/2024 21:43

Hope you had a lovely day guilt free- no child, dog care or cleaning! Enjoy your wine and takeaway :-)

Hovering harpie🤣

The mental picture 😄

Op I hope your evening is everything you planned🤩

Copperoliverbear · 13/07/2024 23:53

Yes, but I would not feel the need to keep it a secret, I'd be doing it and that's it.

posters gushing & effusing over booking a cleaner are being vapidly enthusiastic

Delivery food, wine and streaming sound super but really doesn’t merit responses of Genius! Etc. And it’s permissible to comment she does not need to book a secret cleaner just book it without the secrecy. Or alternatively do all nice stuff and don’t book a cleaner

I would much rather be vapidly enthusiastic than pitifully pedantic.

But, that's just me!.

No, you are way too busy trying to denigrate others who are happy that the OP got to have a wonderful day to herself.

What kind of life does someone lead that makes trying to hurt other's feelings and put down their kindness fun? I do hope it cathartic for you, as it would be a shame if you didn't get something out of your tirades.

I guess I will add pathetic to my feelings about your posts. So, pitiful, pedantic and pathetic. 3 Ps=pee, poop and puke. Yep, that's about describes the antics from the anti-happiness army.

I hope you have a better day than you deserve tomorrow. Lighten up Lucille!

My husband wouldn’t care at all if I got a cleaner but I’d keep it a secret just so I could pretend I’d used my free time to clean so well and then I’d use it as an excuse to treat myself again 😂

AnnieE83 · 14/07/2024 06:54

This sounds amazing !! Yes I would so do this once a month if I could ! Perfect weekend ! Enjoy !!!!

L26 · 14/07/2024 07:21

@elm26 non iron school shirts are amazing wash dry and hang up were ideal with 2 boys 5 yr apart so with 10 shirts plus a week to iron was a no no from me so these were great

Mirrorcat · 14/07/2024 18:53

I think it’s odd. Firstly that you wouldn’t just tell him. Secondly, that a 2 hour clean is something so hugely exciting to you you’re talking about keeping an exciting secret and feeling smug. Odd all round

NannaKaren · 14/07/2024 19:01

🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽great plan - enjoy xxx

Jeannie88 · 14/07/2024 19:44

Stop giving me ideas! However I would just do the cleaning myself as usual because there there woukd be less mess lol 😆
