Yes I know, another XL bulky thread. But seriously, this breed is like a mine field, randomly killing owners all over. You never know when/where it will happen next.

I truly can't wrap my head around people like this woman - may she rest in peace - who are all over the internet defending these KILLERS. They all think theirs is different, theirs would never kill, theirs is a big softy.

Is it time to do something more serious? The legislation brought in doesn't seem to have stopped deaths, although at least it does appear to be the owners (who are stupid enough to keep them) who are dying now instead of innocent members of the public.

XL Bully owner was celebrating birthday when she was mauled to death - as videos emerge of her defending breed

An XL Bully owner killed by her dog had just come home from celebrating her birthday when she was mauled to death.

Maybe they are big softies as well but like with my cat who just had this prey switch when he was little and would start attacking me viciously, it's just an instinctive thing taking over them, I don't think they are bad

Beautifulbythebay · 07/06/2024 12:33

Some inhuman bastard had docked it's ears... Any wonder it had no affection or loyalty to humans?

I'm totally against ear/tail docking, but I doubt that's what caused the attack

I read that up to half of all XL bullies are descended from an American Dog called Killer Kimbo, who has a history of violent offspring.

Not directly perhaps, but it's all part of shit dog ownership, and shit dog ownership is what causes these attacks.

Completely disagree. Look into what @SilverShadowNight mentioned, it's 100% bred into them.

If people are dumb enough to make the choice to own one they accept the risks and possible consequences, including that it might turn on them and kill them or, even worse, someone else.

It does suggest an irresponsible owner who had no real interest in the dogs welfare so while not a direct cause it suggests an overall pattern of bad dog ownership that led to this death

Yes, by shit dog owners. Who then sell them for £££ to yet more shit dog owners.

They didn't breed themselves!

But the instinct causes them to do bad things! Of course they are bad. They all need to be culled

Its more than half and as the UK has a small breeding pool the inbreeding just gets worse.

They're incapable of staying sane. They physically cant. What has been done to those dogs is outrageous. The only way is to euthenise that bloodline completely.

DoubIeLeopardy · 07/06/2024 12:44

As it goes, I think XL bullies are a nightmare breed. I wouldn't own one, I wouldn't let my DC near one (and I say that as a lifelong dog owner).

But breed specific legislation isn't the answer to preventing terrible irresponsible dog breeding and ownership. They'll just move on to another breed.

Shit ownership PLUS the nature of these beasts. It's not always bad owners, although of course it often is. These things have it in their very genes

I agree, but these dogs didn't breed themselves. Shit owners bred and inbred and overbred them and that's how we got to this awful point.

Boltonb · 07/06/2024 12:46

The fact that this woman posted a video dancing with her dog (with cropped ears) and saying she doesn’t give a f*ck if people think they look aggressive etc just confirms a) aggressive nature of these awful dogs and b) the stupidity of so many of the owners

LolaJ87 · 07/06/2024 12:46

@Singersong this happened in Ireland, which doesn't have the same legislation the UK does.

No, but they are here now, and need obliterating.

You don't know anything about XL bullies do you.

Have a search of how many people they have mauled to death, the kind of people that own them.

If they were just animals, they wouldn't be banned.
