When I was younger I remember walking out of the film 24 days later, it was actually quite a good film, but I was young, had smoked a joint and got totally paranoid and freaked out by it!
I also walked out of The exorcist, just a lot of goddamn awful noise and screaming.
I fell asleep through The matrix 😂and Dh fell asleep during one of the later Bridget jones films
Anyone else?

I went to see the first Lord of the Rings with my boyfriend of the time who paid me in, so I didn't really feel I could leave even though I was bored shitless.

I knew there was about fifty pages of the book where they went to meet the elves and absolutely nothing happens so on the pretext of going for a wee I nipped out for half an hour and had a beer and a hot dog, then read the paper outside before I went back in and slept through the rest of it 😊

erlangshen · 31/05/2024 12:30

yes, Russian Ark, most people walked out during the movie, I really tried but just couldnt finish it.

OneTC · 31/05/2024 12:34

I don't go to the cinema very often and only ever films I really want to see so I've never walked out. I went a bit drunk to see usual suspects and had to go to the toilet right at the big reveal though.

I've switched loads of films off at home though, can't really handle it don't really enjoy violence or gore or excessively dark movies

TruJay · 31/05/2024 12:34

Dh and I walked out of Miami Vice, so shit!
Dh fell asleep in James Bond Quantam of Solace, full on snoring so I had to keep nudging him. I liked the film haha

amijustbeingsuspicious · 31/05/2024 12:47

If I had been alone viewing it I would have walked out of the disgusting, loves the smell of its own farts film, “Mother!”

Got thrown out of the cinema seeing a film called Loch Ness back some time in the mid 90’s 😳
Walked out of the show Wicked in the interval (biggest load of dross we’d ever seen).
Other than that I’ve napped during pretty much every film I’ve seen at the cinema in the last 15 years, I don’t really watch films as they induce me into a heavy doze. I rarely go, once every couple of years, usually when the dc convince me it will be something brilliant 😂

Also walked out of Wicked. I’ve seen a lot of musicals but it was like it was a school production, even the writing.

GOTBrienne · 31/05/2024 12:54

I slept through Moulin Rouge. DH loves it, always trying to make me watch it no matter how many times I tell him I loathe it.

drawnfrommemory · 31/05/2024 12:56

I fell asleep in Bladerunner 2049 - my excuse was we'd had dinner and a couple of beers and it was a late showing.

The ridiculous thing was that I was still able to explain a plot point to DH even though he claims he'd watched it all the way through!

AngryBird6122 · 31/05/2024 13:01

Lots of the rings. Walked out. It was just going on and on and on.

@GOTBrienne I don’t blame you. What is it he loves about it?!

Was hot and claustrophobic watching that Amber Heard/Johnny Depp one so I shut my eyes and managed to sleep through most of it.

Tarantino's Dusk Till Dawn - once the zombies appeared it went to shite and I walked out with my friend.

Leaving Las Vegas- I normally like gritty but this was such a dirge that my friend and I walked out.

Lord of the Rings. So long and dull. I slept for a bit then woke up and it still went on forever.

The Hangover 2- utter dross. Left and went to pub.

The Hangover 2 is on TV right now, just started. I have swerved! Thanks 👍

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 31/05/2024 21:55

I’ve never walked out of a film but I’ve definitely dozed off in a few. Not because they were boring but just because I was exhausted!

ferryboatscrubcaps · 01/06/2024 04:07

I walked out of the Blair witch project. All the shaky camera made me feel ill.

I've fell asleep a few times. Can't remember what to.

Fitfoodiefour · 23/02/2025 15:04

I fell asleep in the new gladiator movie 🍿 only nodded off really and woke up, snore snort included, and slipped out quietly after that.
Really love gladiator so I gave it a second chance thinking maybe the for the first show that I was tired after work. Too tired to give it a chance, but no, it just never took off for me.

Yes, Moulin Rouge made me quite queasy for a similar reason. Admittedly I’m prone to motion sickness…

Fell asleep during the first Lord of the Rings film as I was bored stiff.

Left during one of the Star Wars prequels as I was bored and my asthma was being a dick, I wanted to be unwell in comfort, not in a cinema.

Left halfway through the latest Batman film because I hadn’t realised how damn long it was and needed to get the last bus home.

Sitting through these films would have me comatose. My friends are mad about them.

UnctuousUnicorns · 23/02/2025 15:31

I would have walked out on "Lawnmower Man", only I was with friends, so I didn't want to appear rude. It was utter crap, though. More like "Yawnmower Man".

DH and I really should have walked on "The Wedding Singer", as that was cheesy, corny, unfunny shite too. I've been allergic to anything with Adam Sandler in ever since.

My mum and her friend walked out on "Clockwork Orange" due to the violence.

I enjoyed "Moulin Rouge" when I watched it on iPlayer recently, but I did feel as though I were on an acid trip while watching it. 😵

ThinWomansBrain · 23/02/2025 15:37

I fell asleep in Oppenheimer - it was way toooo long.
Also The Substance - watched quite a lot of it, but went to the loo and wasn't sufficiently interested in the outcome to go back,

I used to work with a theatre director, we used to go to see stuff a lot, our favourite phrase was "half an hour of brilliance is better than two hours that needed a drastic edit.

There was also a French film that I went to see (not good enough to remember the title) I walked out of as i was really tedious. A few months later l sat in the cinema and realised it was the same film. It was OK the second time around.
(I have a cinema membership, so go to the cinema quite a lot)

MonetWaterlilies · 23/02/2025 15:38

I walked out of The Wedding Crashers.

And I fell asleep during Being John Malkovich.

In my defense it was a late showing on a Saturday night and I was wasted.😆

UnctuousUnicorns · 23/02/2025 15:45

I also once walked out of some long, crashingly dull theatre play, I think it was having its preview. I thought it had finally finished, but the two ladies sat next to me informed me that it was the interval. Bollocks to that - I made haste my escape. Life's too short.

Mxflamingnoravera · 23/02/2025 19:07

I walked out of The Rocky Horror Show. I was furious at being pelted with rice and water pistols, I had no idea of what to expect and a hater of musicals I could not bear it.

Also:
All the Pokémon films
All the Lord of the Rings films
All kids films made since about 2000.

I also fell asleep during the LIVE performance of Operation Mincemeat, it was a gift from my son for my 62nd birthday. We'd had a cocktail, dinner with wine, wine at the theatre and I fell asleep despite my son digging me in the ribs and it being very loud!

Bubblesgun · 23/02/2025 19:15

Yep The Mandchurian Candidate and an arty one called something something Green Papaya - i remember at least a good minute when ypu were watching the water coming out of the tap. It was beautiful photography yes but not for 2hrs!!!!

TorroFerney · 23/02/2025 19:20

Reservoir dogs and boogie nights. Went and sat in the foyer til they had nearly finished.

oh and tried to have a nap during wicked, the theatre production as that was dire .

AuntyMabelandPippin · 23/02/2025 19:22

I fell asleep during Barbie.

I walked out of Nosferatu the Vampire many moons ago, dreadful film.

I slept through Pokemon the Movie with my children, it was dreadful and I had hardly any sleep due to my youngest being a misery in his own bed.

BejewelledCat · 23/02/2025 20:58

Yes, walked out of Spectre, not because the film was bad but because it was really full in the screening and a guy sat next to me with popcorn, nachos and a massive hotdog with onions and chomped and slurped constantly. There were no spare seats that I could move to so after about 20 mins, the noise and the smell made me get up and walk out.

I hate people who eat in the cinema.
