Ever walked out of a film at the cinema or slept through it?

When I was younger I remember walking out of the film 24 days later, it was actually quite a good film, but I was young, had smoked a joint and got totally paranoid and freaked out by it!
I also walked out of The exorcist, just a lot of goddamn awful noise and screaming.
I fell asleep through The matrix 😂and Dh fell asleep during one of the later Bridget jones films
Anyone else?

Me and DH left about half way through Red Sparrow. It was beyond shit and I resented the hour I wasted on it. However, the most annoying part was I suggested it and now DH has that card to hold it against me forever more. Not that I can blame him because I'd definitely use it against him if he'd been the one to make the suggestion.

Slept thru a load. Dark cinema, comfy seat... zzzzz

FussyPud · 28/05/2024 23:09

Fell asleep during the first Lord of the Rings film as I was bored stiff.

Left during one of the Star Wars prequels as I was bored and my asthma was being a dick, I wanted to be unwell in comfort, not in a cinema.

Left halfway through the latest Batman film because I hadn’t realised how damn long it was and needed to get the last bus home.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 28/05/2024 23:10

I fell asleep in Meistersinger (okay it’s an opera) , and when I woke up, nothing had happened.

TheChosenTwo · 28/05/2024 23:10

Got thrown out of the cinema seeing a film called Loch Ness back some time in the mid 90’s 😳
Walked out of the show Wicked in the interval (biggest load of dross we’d ever seen).
Other than that I’ve napped during pretty much every film I’ve seen at the cinema in the last 15 years, I don’t really watch films as they induce me into a heavy doze. I rarely go, once every couple of years, usually when the dc convince me it will be something brilliant 😂

Theredoubtableskins · 28/05/2024 23:10

Fell asleep during Where the Wild Things Are (it was exam season at uni and I really needed a nap).

Walked out of Then She Found Me. That Helen Hunt movie which I thought would be great but was just awful.

Stinksmum · 28/05/2024 23:11

Walked out of Kenneth Branagh's Frankenstein. My sister met me after the footy to watch it. She was rat arsed, I was bored, and when she was nearly sick in the cinema aisle we decided to leave. It was terrible, and I love Kenneth.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 28/05/2024 23:11

That Alien prequel, Prometheus. Definitely missed a good hour of that. Not my kind of film anyway.
And Inception. I’d quite like to watch it but have attempted several times since and still fall asleep

Isn't it 28 days later?! I only know this becuase I stumbled across them filming the sequel 28 Years Later on a walk last weekend!

I slept through the first 30 mins of The Hobbit and then had to endure hours where I had not the faintest idea what was going on.

Notsonifty50 · 28/05/2024 23:12

Fell asleep during a Harry Potter film. Can't remember which one it was though.

TheShellBeach · 28/05/2024 23:13

I walked out of The Exorcist and The Godfather because they scared me.

I've fallen asleep in countless films though, because they've been boring.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 28/05/2024 23:13

I slept through Groundhog Day - it was fairly new so I didn't know what it was about, and "Groundhog Day" hadn't yet become the phrase it is now. I chose it to watch on a flight, but it was a night flight. I kept dozing, and waking to see what appeared to be the same bit of the film, and then sleeping again. Quite surreal.

It is and I think we must live in the same place as I saw it too lol

Landlubber2019 · 28/05/2024 23:14

I always used to take the kids to the cinema if I felt tired, a nice cuppa followed by a nap was the bees knees!!!

FlambeJones · 28/05/2024 23:14

Walked out of Dark City, it was a date but got a lot better after we left!
Slept through a Star Trek, my friend's family invited me when I was about 11, my friend was really annoyed and didn't speak to me for about 2 weeks,
slept through sliding doors, was gutted because I really wanted to see it but was coming down with tonsillitis,
Slept through Teen Titans much to DC's amusement.

Fluffygoon · 28/05/2024 23:15

My DH also slept through The Matrix … and Bruno Mars at the 02 😬
I walked out of the film 1984 - found it toe-curlingly dull

KnittingKnewbie · 28/05/2024 23:16

I fell asleep during a black and white French Film perhaps called Hiroshima? I was studying it at uni. Woke myself up with my own snoring 😳

Icehockeyflowers · 28/05/2024 23:16

Oh yeah I have slept through romance films (went through a phase of going with work colleagues) and walked out of two others half way through (with DH) as we weren't enjoying them.

rubyslipperss · 28/05/2024 23:16

Walked out of Reservoir Dogs when I was 20 at the ear bit when it first came out . Did walk back in as didn't want to seem uncool with then BF!!!

BeaLola · 28/05/2024 23:17

Years ago I went to see a film at The Barbican with a group - I think from memory we were going once a week(previous films had included JFK and Fried Green Tomatoes at The whistle stop cafe) and we saw a film with William Hurt in it - great actor - likes him a lot - it was weird - it was sort of sci-fi and was sooooo long I fell asleep more than once - it was so awful imo that if I hadn't have fallen asleep I would have left .

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 28/05/2024 23:18

I walked out of Erik the Viking

I've slept through many films I've taken my children to.

RaininSummer · 28/05/2024 23:19

2001 Space Odyssey around 1979. So boring. Ditto JFK.

Miriad · 28/05/2024 23:19

I slept through Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet at the cinema. It was 4hrs long and it was just too boring.

FOJN · 28/05/2024 23:19

I walked out of Vanilla Sky years ago, it was so boring. I don't remember ever sleeping through a film at the cinema.

Justvibinghere · 28/05/2024 23:19

@Worsthotel Oh yes, 28 days later 😅
They’re filming 28 years later? Surely that film wasn’t 28 years ago
