Ever walked out of a film at the cinema or slept through it?

When I was younger I remember walking out of the film 24 days later, it was actually quite a good film, but I was young, had smoked a joint and got totally paranoid and freaked out by it!
I also walked out of The exorcist, just a lot of goddamn awful noise and screaming.
I fell asleep through The matrix 😂and Dh fell asleep during one of the later Bridget jones films
Anyone else?

Eyes Wide Shut is the only film I've ever walked out of. A tedious hour and a half of cliche and terrible acting 🙄 There have been a few others I would like to have done.

The question about sleeping through made me smile.

I have always found sci-fi very dull. I think the basic premise is so ludicrous my brain just checks out. Long ago I explained this to a new boyfriend, who then insisted I see Hitch Hikers Guide because it was the best film ever made. I tried to decline but he was determined so in the end I agreed.

Warm cinema, comfy seat, after a long, hectic week, and a complete lack of coherent plot, I was sound asleep within minutes and had to be woken up at the end. He was furious and said I'd done it on purpose.

Another one bites the dust. 😁

I thought this was going to end- ‘and thirty years later that cinema manager is my wonderful dh and dad to our six kids’ - I’m a little let down by the ending tbh ;-)

Sorry, no he wasn’t my type at all but was a nice guy who got how disappointed I was that evening!

I do now have a DH who is a wonderful guy and who respects our differences in interests when it comes to films and genres; I’m sure he’s sat through some I’ve wanted to watch even though not his first choice of film, and I have done the same with him. Likewise, we’ve both had times where we’ve gone separately to the cinema when we really can’t stand the film the other wants to watch!

I slept through Saving Private Ryan (following a 3 course meal with wine) A James Bond film and I've dozed off in the Everyman cinema a few times. They give you blankets what do they expect? 😂

DanielGault · 29/05/2024 04:13

Fell asleep during La La Land 😂

Ladybird69 · 29/05/2024 04:23

Walked out of Funny People, it wasn’t funny! And ran out of a horror film , one of the Jason ones! Almost shit myself 😬 I hate horror but was trying to impress a new boyfriend!

Hubby fell asleep during Twilight lol

Fell asleep during loads when dd was young, most memorably the final Harry Potter. Have left two movies due to the way they had been filmed with handheld cameras - they gave me horrendous motion sickness. I usually persevere if the movie isn’t great but I draw the line at movies that make me vomit.

I fell asleep during Castaway. It was New Years Day and I only had had a couple hours sleep.

I fell asleep during a black and white French Film perhaps called Hiroshima? I was studying it at uni. Woke myself up with my own snoring 😳

Hiroshima, Mon Amour?

forgotmyusername1 · 29/05/2024 06:22

I walked out of epic movie after about 15 mins
Went to the desk and said 'I was just in epic movie' the guy cut me off and said 'do you want to see a different film?' I was clearly not the first

Ended up in hot fuzz so not a wasted day after all

LadyWhistledownMarkTwo · 29/05/2024 06:32

Only walked out twice. First one, I can’t remember what it was. The second was only a couple of weeks ago and was Kingdom of Planet of the Apes. God, that film was so boring 🥱 DH and I managed about 45 minutes before looking at each other, nodding, and deciding to leave run.

I fell asleep during Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. I just felt it never really got going. The seats were comfy though so that was a blessing.

Hateam · 29/05/2024 06:38

I walked out of Oppenheimer.
I'm moderately deaf and just couldn't hear enough of it to follow it.
Some people with perfect hearing had similar issues.

mjf981 · 29/05/2024 06:40

Yep. One of the Star Wars films. My friend dragged me and it was so boring and long I slept through most of it. Never tried to watch another SW film. I don't understand the popularity of them tbh.

Parky04 · 29/05/2024 06:59

Walked out during La La Land. It is the dullest film I have ever seen!

Lourdes12 · 29/05/2024 07:28

My friend fell asleep during American Beauty at the cinema. She said it was so boring. I thought it was the best movie I had watched

TroysMammy · 29/05/2024 07:34

The Matrix. Went to the cinema with a friend and our partners supposedly to watch The Mummy. When we got there was a change of plan by the men so both my friend and I both fell asleep. Sorry Keanu.

shiningcuckoo · 29/05/2024 07:47

Walked out of The Fisher King. I was there with a newish boyfriend. We went to see a film as a rest from a weekend long shagathon. Decided that the 15 mins in the cinema was enough of a rest and left to go back to his place.

Horsemother · 29/05/2024 07:48

I walked out of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the interval because I was bored to tears.

poppymango · 29/05/2024 07:48

Couldn't sit still during The Horse Whisperer. Bored out of my brain. I would have walked out if I'd been older but at 11 or so I would have got a telling off.

Fell asleep during the first Dune. Wanted to throw things at the screen during The Irishman as it just went on and on and on and on and endless pointless conversations in that annoying New Jersey mafia accent. Happily both of the above were dates so I didn't have to pay!

KimberleyClark · 29/05/2024 07:51

Back when we were first married, DH and DTD before going to the local arty cinema to see Hannah and her Sisters. I slept through it.

QueenMegan · 29/05/2024 07:52

Slept with my eyes open through many a kids am film. No idea what they were

Claide · 29/05/2024 07:56

NC for this one because it’s very outing.. my family still rip me for this.

when I was 15 my friend and I went to see something that we weren’t expecting to be scary (it wasn’t advertised as being so). we walked out terrified and asked for our money back… after looking at the advertised description they agreed and refunded us!

NeedWineNow · 29/05/2024 08:26

Never walked out but there were a couple where I felt I could have. Raging Bull with my ex boxing-lover boyfriend and the musical Heathcliffe where we went with my SIL and other friends. Both absolutely dreadful.

I fell asleep during Rocky. I saw the first five minutes and woke up as the final credits were rolling.

sesquipedalian · 29/05/2024 08:31

The first time I ever took my daughter to the cinema - she was about four, and it was the latest Disney offering - I asked her at the end of it whether she had enjoyed it, and she said, “I don’t know, because it was dark so I went to sleep”…
