I'm a bit late to the party but I'm in too please!
I've just weighed in at 11 stone 6 lbs, which at 5ft 7 juuuuust tips me over into "overweight" with a BMI of 25.1. In an ideal world I am aiming for 10 stone, but I need to break this down so my targets are to:
- Get back to "healthy" weight (11st 4lbs)
- Get down to 10st 'anything.'
- Lose 10% of my body weight to get to 10st 4.
- Get down to 10st by the time I turn 41 (8 months away).
A few years ago I weighed just over 13 stone, but lost nearly 2 stone in 3 months during a struggle with my mental health. As I recovered I worked hard to maintain the weight loss, also with an end goal of getting to 10st, but I only ever got to 10st 10 and then as I started to feel happier and more content with life things slipped and I seem to have put nearly a stone of that back on without really knowing how.
I have been trying to be more vaguely aware of what I have been eating for the last couple of months as I noticed my clothes were getting tighter and I have been yo-yo-ing between 11st 4 and 11st 10, but now it is time for proper action.
I am also hoping to lose some inches, particularly from my waist. I am very Apple shaped and carry all my weight on my stomach. I have just measured my waist and it is 37 inches. My hips are only 38.5 inches and I have a family history of Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease. I am aware that this waist size massively increases my risk of both, so this is not just about vanity at this point!
My plan is to follow 16:8 in the first instance as this works well with my work pattern. Health issues mean that exercise isn't easy for me, so my initial target is to hit 10,000 steps per day and then try to build from there. I am going to weigh-in every Wednesday morning from now on.
I'm hoping that this thread will keep me feeling accountable and also help me feel that I'm not alone as I read everyone else's stories!
