To ask you to join me in a 30 day weight loss challenge?

So, summer in nearly upon us and I still haven't gotten into shape!
AIBU to ask some of you to join me in a 30 day challenge to strive towards being a little bit healthier?
My aim is to get up early every morning and do a 30 min walk/run and stick to a healthy diet.
I'm hoping we could all post a message every night/other night updating on our progress and being a support of sorts to each other to keep us focused on our long term goal.
Anyone up for it?

I liked it better than level 2 (which isn't saying much). My knees struggle with anything with a jump in it so I had to adapt the last cardio move. I'm also still with Anita 😁

Yeah the rockstars are hard, I thought you might need to adapt that as you said you struggle with your knees.

I tend to do a mix of Natalie and Anita. I follow Natalie as much as I can but follow Anita when necessary (e.g I know if I do the jumping lunges then I'll struggle to keep up for the rest of the video so I tend to do the alternating lunges. Sometimes I try to do the jumping ones for the last 15/20 seconds of the second set).

Frustrated today as I got up at 6 to do it and dp said he had to leave early for work so couldn't watch the kids while I did it (don't know why he didn't mention this last night when I asked him to make sure I was up to do it!). So not only did I get up early but it was for nothing as I haven't been able to do it. Hoping I might be able to fit it in when kids have a nap this afternoon but timing doesn't always work out..

Hope everyone has a good day

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 24/06/2024 08:37

As expected, my weight is back up after over indulging last week. Up from 68.8lg to 70.6kg, where I was 2 weeks ago. So just 1kg down since we started.

Ah well, motivation to get back on track again today.

Furrydogmum · 24/06/2024 10:27

Well done everyone, I can't believe the 30 days are up! I've lost 5lbs, so half of what I said I'd like to lose, but a loss is a loss!

Troubledoor1 · 24/06/2024 14:07

Hi all. I decided to weigh today as it is day 30
and despite knowing I would have put on I felt I should! 2 pounds on, so 4 lost overall. I’m going to look at all my posts later and see what the pattern was for me!

SpicyNikNak · 24/06/2024 15:39

Wow those 30 days seem to have shot passed! Pleased so many are seeing losses. Day 22 30ds done here so a good day so far. I hope the thread keeps going if others are interested in extending it.

Baxdream · 24/06/2024 17:18

So I had my gym assessment. In 10 weeks I've lost 8 pounds but the important part is I have gained muscle, lost fat and my metabolic age has dropped to 16 years below my true age (I'm in my 40s).

I guess what I am saying is don't focus too much on your weight. I'm 11 st 2 (I'm tall) but eating healthier has impacted me inside far more than the scales give me credit for!

lairyfights9 · 24/06/2024 21:11

I thought tomorrow was day 30 so didn't add final weight in earlier post. I did check it this morning though - still 11.6, so 5lbs lost for me. Reasonably happy with that, though (as I'm sure is the case for most dieters!) would have liked a bit more. Will be keeping going until goal so happy to stay on the thread for support etc.

Well done all for effort over the past 30 days 😊 hope people are feeling good

I should definitely check my fat and muscle % I checked it before doing 30ds so interested to see what it would be now

I8toys · 25/06/2024 09:22

Just 4lbs lost for me but I am eating healthier. Still can't get the motivation to exercise.

weaseleyes · 25/06/2024 10:10

I managed to lose 10.5 pounds over the past four weeks, so I'm pretty happy with that. Lots more to go, though, so trying to get myself in the mindset that being incredibly virtuous for the next four weeks will probably only result in a 3-4 pound loss at best, but that that will be a good outcome.

Toooldtoworry · 25/06/2024 16:32

Weighed in at 208.4 this morning - two weeks ago weighed in at 211lb so am steadily losing.

Did a session with a nutritionist who told me to measure myself and to eat 80g protein per day

SpicyNikNak · 25/06/2024 23:11

Bit of an up and down day here today. Didn't manage 30ds but did get a long walk in. Food was a bit off calorie target too so not a great day. Back on it tomorrow

Troubledoor1 · 26/06/2024 17:44

Im going to do another 30 days challenge. I’ve looked over my posts for the last 30 days and can see where I’ve gone wrong- eating too much and moving too little. I’d like to loose 5 pounds in 30 days as 8 was not realistic for me. I’ll post here if people are still around!

SpicyNikNak · 26/06/2024 21:18

I'm still here!! Plodding on with 30ds and MFP :)

Beezknees · 26/06/2024 21:27

I'm still here. Fell off the wagon a little so haven't posted much. Haven't weighed either as I'll be devastated if I've gained. But as I keep telling myself, it's a marathon not a sprint and my difficult relationship with food won't change overnight! Tomorrow will be a better day, working from home so no temptation as I don't keep junk in the house.

Toooldtoworry · 27/06/2024 07:02

I'm here. Lost 0.5lb this week. Was at the gym at 4.45am today because I've got a full work day.

I'm following my nutritionists advice and doing 80g protein over 4 meals a day. I've found I'm not hungry with that.

lairyfights9 · 27/06/2024 07:05

Still here, just also fallen of wagon a bit 😩 done 30ds tues, weds and today, 2 more this week and then rest day Sunday. Pretty crap food wise though.

How you getting on with level 3 @SpicyNikNak ?

@Beezknees I always find the days at home harder for me! I get more bored and for me that = wanting to eat. Would be better if I didn't keep crap in the house, but everyone else in my household has it :(

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 27/06/2024 11:48

I’m still here too. Did quite well first 3 weeks, then had a very had week last week. Back on track again, will try do another 30 days.

MammaTill2Pojkar · 27/06/2024 14:38

@lairyfights9 Yep, we went back to England for a few days, kids got to see some family and youngest got to meet his Great Grandma in person for the first time. Lots of takeaways have been consumed (though I did try to stick to more reasonable portions and eat only around half or so of what I got), as well as lots of snacks. A fair bit of walking was done though, it was very action packed and overwhelming for the kids 😅

I weighed in one last time before we left and got 63.4kg, today I weighed 64.3kg, so the damage done hasn't been too bad, only problem is I'm not quite ready to get back in to intermittent fasting yet/get my portions back under control (it's boiling here today so I've had a Magnum already 😬)... I have ordered a new infinity hoop however.

I will try and ease myself back in to it and try go for another 30 days maybe and see if I can shift another 2kgs.

Troubledoor1 · 27/06/2024 18:54

I’ve had a couple of great food days but filled with empty alcohol calories. Not much walking because of a busy work day but that should ease next week. I plan to eat salad for tea four nights next week, but try new recipes.

SpicyNikNak · 28/06/2024 22:29

Day 25 30ds done!! I will finish this thing!! I'm finding progress slow but I am determined to see it through. At least the warm weather makes the salad choice easier!

Glenthebattleostrich · 29/06/2024 07:57

Been awol this week because I've had this horrible summer cold. Seem to have picked up every illness known to mankind this year.

Lost half a lb this week, but my steps have been terrible. Haven't managed shred this week as can't breathe with blocked sinuses.

I'm stubbornly just hovering above 200lb, so fasting today with a long dog walk to try to get below that this weekend.

I read something about doing 20000 steps per day this week so thinking I'm going to give that a try in July to see if it is manageable and if it yields any results. Planning a 30 minutes walk before work and 1 hour after to see what that does for my steps. Monday I'm on a school trip so that should give good results and a good start. Pray the rain goes away by then!

Have a great day ladies

MammaTill2Pojkar · 30/06/2024 22:10

Diet is not doing well but my new hula hoop arrived just now so I just gave it a little fitting and trial. I went for a slightly more expensive one this time and it is so much quieter! I'm also hoping this one wont pinch my skin like the old one (nor break as easily). It can also time my workout, count my spins and (supposedly) how many calories burned.

Hopefully I will find time to do a workout with it tomorrow.

Glenthebattleostrich · 01/07/2024 06:22

July is going to be a strict exercise month! Aiming for 500000 steps overall this month.

Hit my 3rd target yesterday- under 200lb. My weight is 199.2 so very happy. Especially as I've ordered some Doc Marten sandals as a reward 😁

My July targets are -

7lb off
Log food daily - keep under 1800 cals per day.
2l of water per day
Min of 15000 steps per day (target 20000)

Glenthebattleostrich · 01/07/2024 06:23

I'm a little bit scared of hula hoops @MammaTill2Pojkar, is it hard to do?
