So, summer in nearly upon us and I still haven't gotten into shape!
AIBU to ask some of you to join me in a 30 day challenge to strive towards being a little bit healthier?
My aim is to get up early every morning and do a 30 min walk/run and stick to a healthy diet.
I'm hoping we could all post a message every night/other night updating on our progress and being a support of sorts to each other to keep us focused on our long term goal.
Anyone up for it?

I’m in! Would like to lose 6lbs in the 30 days as this will get my bmi down so I am no longer classed as overweight. Good luck everyone!

Eggsley · 27/05/2024 11:15

13st 1.6lbs this morning. Aiming for 12st 7lbs in 30 days. I'm also 5'4".

Had All Bran and two cups of tea this morning. Need to drink more water - I'm good at drinking water at work but awful when I'm off work!

Good luck all, we can do this!

This is a good point I need to increase my water intake!

Smartishpants · 27/05/2024 11:48

I’m in - 63.6kg this morning, up 3.6kg from a couple of months ago. Aiming to not put more on and ideally to lose 2kg by the time I go on holiday in 5 weeks.

Thesheerrelief · 27/05/2024 11:55

I'm in. 5'3" and around 11st 4. Will weigh myself in the morning. At the start of July I'm on an TV-type thing for work (internal luckily) and the camera really does add 10lb. So I'd love to be 7lb or more down by then.

ShinyBandana · 27/05/2024 12:04

Count me in too please?

I’m too scared to get on scales but last time I weighed I was bmi 33 (obese). I’m5ft 11 and size 20. I’d like to get into last years size 18 clothes for our hols in 2 months.

My aims- cal counting 1500-1600 daily plus 2 fast days 600-700 per week. I haven’t got close to 10000 steps since I went back to work full time but will aim for average 8k steps a day from today - essentially try to take my daily calories used to over 2600. That should give a weekly deficit of 9000 cals which should be 2.5lbs / week. This also assumes an alcohol free diet too!

I can try to fit In a daily dog walk and gym couple of times a week. It’s doable but motivation is the hardest part!

Good luck everyone!

Pleasegodgotosleep · 27/05/2024 12:19

Weigh in today 10 stone 9 at 5"3.

I'm down 2 stone since November. I'm 45 and peri so finding weight loss hard. According to nhs bmi calculator I need to get to 10 stone 1 to get out of overweight category, my goal is 9 stone 9 to make a round 3 stone loss!

I'm aiming for 12k steps a day and have pilates class tonight. I use mfp to log food and aim for 1200 - 1300 cals per day.

MammaTill2Pojkar · 27/05/2024 12:21

65.7kg (approx 145lbs) this morning, pleasantly surprised as I ate loads of crap last night as a final binge and was a little over 66kg a week or two ago.

Already done my 30 min work out ❤
I already try to do intermittent fasting but need to be stricter with it (16:8 if I can)
My worst thing is snacking far too much.

I'm around 5'4" and my goal in the next 25 days is to lose 2-3kg/4-6lbs (in the long run I'd love to lose 6kg/12lbs).

Lavengro · 27/05/2024 12:53

Weighing in at 15st 7lb (or 98.5kg).

I normally set myself the goal of losing 5% of my weight in 10 weeks, so this time round I'm aiming for 14st 10lb (93.5kg). Not sure what I'll manage in the 30 days but if it keeps going downwards I'll take that as a win.

I started at 18 stone, with a BMI of a whopping 43.4. My eventual goal is 10 stone, which would get me just below a BMI of 25. It was all from binge eating when I was in a bad relationship but I'm on my own now and in a much better place. My GP sent me on a 10 week course where we learned about healthy eating, habit making and breaking, finding the right exercise for us etc, so now I do it in 10 week blocks with a week or two off in between each one. It's been a while since I had anyone to do it with and I'm getting a bit stale, so this is good.

I'm having a quiet day today but doing a gym induction tomorrow.

MrsMacGyver · 27/05/2024 15:12

I have begun my ‘new healthy eating plan’, about bloody time 🤣 Good luck everyone ❤️

Ezekiela · 27/05/2024 15:18

NC'd since yesterday for this as I'm going to be honest about my weight.

13 stone 6 this morning. I think I'll aim for 13 stone at the end of the 30 days, which is 1.4lb per week. However, I'll be away for the second half of the 30 days so might not be able to weigh myself until I get home.

My main aim is to feel more comfortable in my clothes and not to get out of breath so quickly.

BellaAndSprout · 27/05/2024 15:23

I'm in (even if a day late!) I have 3 stone to lose but would be happy with 10-14lbs in the next month.

Have half-heartedly started logging my food but need to be more consistent with that plus I now have a PT who will hopefully provide a bit more accountability!

Good luck everyone 💪

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 27/05/2024 15:27

I’ll try to join in. I’ve already got a no/low snacking thread in chat.

I’d love to say I have a holiday to plan for but only going to DP’s holiday home in SW France where I can easily stay hidden and fit into swimwear.

Half a stone so say just over 11 stone to 10 and a half would be good.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 27/05/2024 15:32

Today’s food:

breakfast rude health low sugar granola 24 grams with Greek yoghurt and blueberries

lunch salad with avocado boiled egg and 2 slices Ryvita with spread

snacks: 2 plums, big slice brioche with apricot jam, apple and reduced fat cheese and 2 rich tea light biscuits

10 minute walk

Toooldtoworry · 27/05/2024 15:38

Can I join. I've actually signed up to the gym starting 1st June.

I used to run until 2 years ago when I got plantar fasciitis and it's only just started righting itself so I've put on at least 2.5st and last time I weighed myself I was 85kg at 5'5" which I am VERY unhappy about.

Going for a weightloss and tone all over to a size 12 by end of December hopefully.

I will add I'm hypothyroid, so weight loss is bastard hard.

Beezknees · 27/05/2024 16:44

I'm using myfitnesspal and sticking to 1500 calories per day. It worked for me last year, I lost 5lbs in a month but fell back off the wagon.

I was going to ask about calorie counters because when I downloaded mfp it was no longer free and I definitely need to keep an eye on this.

I8toys · 27/05/2024 17:09

Can I join? Menopause is kicking my arse and my body shape is changing. I'm so sedentary as well and I know I need to move more. I want to get rid of my middle age belly and fit into my clothes better. Half a stone would be a start.

5ft 7 and 10st 4. Would love 9st 10. Last time I was near this was before Christmas when I was ill.

Aquarelles · 27/05/2024 17:34

Can I join too, please? I started a few months ago but then I fell off the wagon after a holiday.

Starting tomorrow because I've just found this thread, and I'm sitting here eating a tub of ice cream Blush

Thistle101 · 27/05/2024 18:41

Evening everyone!
So Day 1 is nearly done🙌
I skipped breakfast as was running late, had scrambled egg and grilled tomatoes on toast for lunch and had steak and salad for dinner with some fruit to finish off.
Plan is to buy some running trainers tomorrow as my current trainers are causing some issues during exercise.
I'm giving today a ♥️...1 down only 29 to go.
WE CAN DO THIS

thesnailandthewhale · 27/05/2024 19:29

Day 1 nearly done here too ... (1400 calories)

B: 2 x poached eggs, spinach on 1 piece toast
L: Grilled chicken, noodles, veg
D: Grilled chicken, salad
Snacks: Protein shake

8 hours sleep last night
2 litres water drunk
13,000 steps (mainly in the sun to get my Vit D)

Before photos and measurements taken this morning
Face pack and Footners foot socks on and an early night planned. Craving sugar!

Chocolate4 · 27/05/2024 19:51

75.9kg this morning, day 1 for me.

I did intermittent fasting a few years ago and it did work so well.
Sadly I did try again last year a couple of times and wouldn't lose much 🤔
so I gave a go at Weight loss NHS , it's a 12 or 13 weeks challenge where you have to count your calories. It did help a lot and I was (very) surprised of how many calories I was actually eating throughout the day. I only did 5 weeks then and stopped.

Anyway, 1st day again today, back on intermittent fasting, 16:8 AND counting calories.

Did pretty good today so that's my 1st ❤️ !!

Well done everyone, we got this!

SpicyNikNak · 27/05/2024 20:07

First day almost done. Granola and fruit for breakfast, thin bagel and nuts for lunch and ww risotto for dinner. Snacks were an orange and a 10 cal jelly :). Managed day 4 of 30 day shred dvd. So all in all ❤️ In the office tomorrow and hoping no-one brings cakes!!!

wateringcanface · 27/05/2024 20:10

I'll join!

Partly vanity reasons, I have lots of weddings / hens over summer and want to look my best.

Partly essential that I need to lose minimum 7lbs by July for Fertility treatment.

I'm 5'9, approx 15 stone ish. Going to buy a size 12 dress to wear for wedding in 3 weeks, I can mostly (depending on shop) fit 12s, just not 'comfortably', I hate weighing but I know by my clothes roughly where I am weight wise.

Doing a mix of various diets, shake, egg fast etc, but will have 3 normal meals a week. After first couple of weeks, I'll just keep to a more manageable calorie deficit

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 27/05/2024 21:27

Day 1 done. Was pretty good.
I am usually pretty good Mon- Thurs. Fri to Sun is my downfall., with wine and too many snacks.
I have 2 offices lunches this week, and a birthday dinner. Let’s hope I can hang on to my motivation 😊

I’m probably similar to you. Menopausal and it’s so easy to slip into bad habits and not exercise much.

HRT helps a bit.

I’m not a fan of intermittent fasting.

My good win today was though out in the high street, didn’t buy or looked into shops but didn’t buy crisps and chocolate.

Had veggie tofu stir fry for dinner and orange. Could’ve had less rice but wasn’t huge.

I do need to exercise a bit though. Getting sick of being larger in clothes when I know I can lose weight.
