So, summer in nearly upon us and I still haven't gotten into shape!
AIBU to ask some of you to join me in a 30 day challenge to strive towards being a little bit healthier?
My aim is to get up early every morning and do a 30 min walk/run and stick to a healthy diet.
I'm hoping we could all post a message every night/other night updating on our progress and being a support of sorts to each other to keep us focused on our long term goal.
Anyone up for it?

Pretty good day for me so I'm giving myself a ❤️😊

Did day 11 of 30ds first thing 👍 (@SpicyNikNak it was tough, not unbearable, made it through without feeling like I was going to die but some of the different moves were rough and there was a lot more planking moves and I really REALLY hate a plank 😩😂. Had to rest a few times which I wasn't needing to do on level 1. Dreading tomorrow now but will keep going and I know - desperately hope! - it'll be a bit easier in a few days)

Breakfast - banana, oat and peanut butter protein smoothie
Lunch - lots of chicken and 5 salt and vinegar rice cakes
Dinner - tinned sausages and beans on toast (no cheese as I'm dairy free)

My only blip was a pop tart at about 2pm, but considering I usually have a lot of crap at that time and in the evening I don't feel too bad about it, it still feels like a successful day.

I am about to have a cup of tea before bed. I was planning to have a couple of gingernut biscuits with it to satisfy my urge for evening snacking but it's actually pretty late so I'm going to forego the biscuits which is great for me!

Hope everyone's had a good day and good luck tomorrow 😊

lairyfights9 · 28/05/2024 22:11

@SpicyNikNak well done on completing day 5!

MiniPumpkin · 28/05/2024 22:15

Me. I started yesterday. Doing good so far, using MyFitnessPal to cal count and forced myself to go a run tonight.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 28/05/2024 22:21

Day 2 went pretty good.
Managed to fit in 8k steps.

Drank lots of tea, but no water.

Also had a bad night sleep last night. Lots of tossing and turning. Caused by work stress I think.
I am proud to say I resisted a few slices of chocolate orange with my before bed cup of tea.
i have work from home day tomorrow. I generally do much better food wise when I am at work. Fingers crossed I can report another good day tomorrow.

Have eaten breakfast and dinner today, no lunch as my downfall is constant snacking and eating too much. so I did have a good breakfast and substantial dinner but still less than usual. I think eating within a small window might be the way to go. It also gives the digestive system a break and is better for dental health.

Didn't manage to do the 100 skips today, But on the list for tomorrow

managed 100 skips and a 7 minute workout plus a walk.

Stuck to breakfast, one late lunch and a tea and one piece of toast for my evening snack as was getting quite peckish.

2 packets of crisps - not good

also not good that my meal was overly heavy. I really need to work on portion content

Did a youtu.be facial massage which has really given me a nice rosy glow! not had that for ages.

This is a brilliant article on the benefits of short workouts

Smartishpants · 29/05/2024 06:57

Snotty cold has knocked me off track a bit since Monday but I’ve done yoga twice and not added any weight despite some suspect snacking so onwards to a better day.

Troubledoor1 · 29/05/2024 06:59

Morning all.
Calorie tracking is always an eye opener for me.
I sometimes can’t understand why I’m 3 stone overweight when my diet is pretty healthy and I am active. Well it’s clear when I put stuff in the tracker that I’ve been wildly (blindly) guessing at portion size. Yes I’m active but I am in a desk job and I’m not active to the point of working off 500 extra calories a day! So onwards with the food tracking to 1500 a day, at least 10,000 steps a day, loads of water and a cardio workout.

I’ve added in some body maintenance to help
with motivation. Hair has been dyed, eyebrows tidied, feet pumiced and nails painted.

lairyfights9 · 29/05/2024 07:11

That's a good idea @Troubledoor1 😊 I might try and do mine while ds has his first nap. I don't get much time for self care as I've got a one year old and a 2 and a half year old. I can barely get anything done at home with them which is why I'm getting up so early to exercise as it needs to be done before dp leaves for work at 6:45. Helpful really because it's done before the day even really begins, but I am tired and the last thing I want to do when bleary eyed and not fully awake is exercise 😂
Day 12 of 30ds done ✔️ have a good day all

booboo24 · 29/05/2024 07:27

Hi, I've just seen this, can I join? (better late than never!) I'm 47, and suddenly feeling old, worn out and miserable! I've gained weight suddenly in the past year, not a lot but enough, I'd like to lose 10lb ideally, my job is stressful and also a desk job, I have an elderly mum who's got dementia and a daughter going through her GCSE'S, she has ASD so needs a lot more guidance than my elder daughter. I don't have much time for myself which is why I bought Body FX 2 years ago and have probably 'danced' about 20 times max during that time! I also love food and have no will power! I can use my Fitbit for calorie counting but I am clueless when it comes to healthy eating, knowledge wise and always end up not feeling full if I try to eat healthy, so I use chocolate to fill the gap!!!

Glenthebattleostrich · 29/05/2024 07:35

Good morning

Had a good day yesterday, managed a 2 mile walk before dinner so hit 14000 steps and cleared the rubbish from the garage into the skip. Today's jobs are clearing a huge planter and dismantling it to get rid and hauling some big pots around so I'm counting that as my exercise!!! I also need to dig out an area of the garden, redo the weed membrane and then replace some stones. Also clearing out the study and cleaning the house, so a full day of physical labour and lots of lovely low carb goodies to get through.

Thanks for the article @Theoldbird. Interesting reading and makes me feel better about the short time I have to exercise (for some reason I don't count walks in it as they are lovely catch ups with friends!). I can't find my shred DVD so need to find something else (or rebuy it).

I've decided to gove myself some rewards for hitting targets. It ties in nicely with the self care stuff @Troubledoor1 was talking about. So 4lb off, manicure. 7lb, facial. 11lb pedicure. 14lb I'll book a proper massage. Hopefully that'll motivate me to my first stone and then I'll be close to fitting in my lovely clothes whicb will keep me going.

Hope the cold clears quickly @Smartishpants and everyone has. a good day.

SpicyNikNak · 29/05/2024 08:03

I forgot about the planks @lairyfights9 ! Day in the office for me again today which I find harder than being at home food wise. I've got a water bottle ready so the aim is to sip on that. It's early days but for the first time in a long time I'm feeling motivated.

lairyfights9 · 29/05/2024 08:23

Yeah so had I @SpicyNikNak 😂

weaseleyes · 29/05/2024 11:03

I got through my day 1 successfully yesterday, so can award myself a ❤- probably the first one I've merited since Christmas! I came in at 1 calorie under my allowance, avoided snacking and bread/sugar. Had a stonking headache in the afternoon, undoubtedly due to the lack of bread. I should get past that if I can hold out a few more days. I was 3lb down this morning, which is obviously meaningless in actual weight loss terms, but gave me a psychological boost as it meant I came back under my personal threshold of doom which I had vowed never to reach again. Here's hoping I stay on track for day 2.

Beezknees · 29/05/2024 12:58

Good afternoon all.

Day 3. Had slim fast and berries for breakfast and 2 eggs on toast for lunch. Garlic chicken and veg planned for dinner. Got enough calories left over for a treat as well so might pick up a small chocolate bar when I go shopping. Still need to drink more water though.

We got this 💪🏻

3lbs is definitely not meaningless! That's great, well done 👏🏻

Eggsley · 29/05/2024 17:18

13st 1lbs this morning, so back up into the 13s today. My weight fluctuates quite a bit but I like to weigh myself daily as then I can see the overall trend (hopefully downwards!).

B: 2 x white toast and marmalade, cup of tea
L: cheese toastie, Diet Coke
D: not decided yet.
Snack: ice lolly

Not the best, but I've not snacked anywhere near as much as I usually would!

ShaunaSadeki · 29/05/2024 17:45

77.5 kilos today and I made it out for a run this morning and have yoga tonight which I will to and from, it isn’t a weights day for me today.

I had scrambled tofu with 2 sausages that needed eating, tomatoes and spinach for brunch and a small protein shake.

Dinner will be (pretend) steak with a giant mushroom, spinach, samphire and cherry tomatoes. I am doing harissa potato wedges for the family so will try and resist those

Didimum · 29/05/2024 18:03

Can I join very late? Holiday mid July. Don’t really have a goal, but just want to do my best. Overall goal is 126lb.

156lb today.

B: coconut dairy-free yoghurt, granola and berries
L: Raw veg, prawns and blue cheese dip
D: likely fish and veg

SpicyNikNak · 29/05/2024 20:24

An up and down day 3 for me. Have done really well on calorie intake and drank lots of water but struggled a bit exercise wise. It's day 6 of the 30ds and at nearly 50 my knees are feeling it. Probably due a rest day from it tomorrow. Anyone got any recommendations of a 20 min ish circuit that's low knee impact?

lairyfights9 · 29/05/2024 22:12

I'm giving today a ❤️ again. Did 30ds and have eaten pretty well-

Breakfast - banana, oat and peanut butter protein smoothie
Lunch - quinoa and beans with sweet chilli (higher protein) chicken, 3 salt and vinegar rice cakes and a small slice of vegan cake (was at a birthday thing)
Dinner - I haven't had any as my eldest and I were off to see a show and I ended up not having time so I had half a small tub of Pringles when we got there and that's it.

I am a bit hungry though so I might eat something when I get home, but I might just have a cup of tea and see if that satisfies me..

@SpicyNikNak I know what you mean about the knees, I was actually okay during level 1 this time (I'm certain in the past level 1 has been rough on my knees) but since starting level 2 my knees have been a bit sore. Before starting the 30ds I was doing a postnatal cardio YouTube video by bodyfit by Amy which was low impact but still a really good workout. I can post a link if you like?

SpicyNikNak · 29/05/2024 22:31

A link would be great @lairyfights9

I was really hoping to do 7 days straight but had to really slow it down today (day 6) I still did it though so every cloud. Sounds like you are whipping through it - nearly half way!

Tinytigertail · 29/05/2024 22:45

Id also like to be a Kate joiner if I may? I'm currently 12.2lbs and would like top eventually be 10.7. I've not had a great day in terms of food as I was out for lunch and also had a glass of wine. However, I have walked more than 15k steps, so I think that's a pretty good win!

I've been considering taking up BodyFX again, might set myself a 30 challenge after we get back from our short holiday next month.

MammaTill2Pojkar · 29/05/2024 23:28

30 min workout accomplished today, broke my fast at 6pm again (probably doing more of a 20:4 if), will see if I am still eating too much during that time if I manage to weigh in on Sat, otherwise I'm feeling hopeful ❤

mrlistersgelfbride · 29/05/2024 23:30

Last to the party, but yes, I need this!
Will start my fitness pal food logging again tomorrow! 💪
