aibu not shaving my legs

hairybeary · 01/04/2008 10:58

tis is causing a bit of friction (excuse the pun) between me and dh.

i really cant be bothered doing it, its the winter and i am living in jeans, when the summer comes round and i am in crops etc i will start doing it again then.

last night i had my legs streched out on the couch and he made a really childish comment about it, basically along the lines of he thinks its horrible and wants me to wear socks (in my own f**king house)

to be honest it was more the childish way he put it that pissed me right of, had he said it in a joking way i possibly would have toddled of upstairs and got a razor out.

this is the same man who finds periods yucky and wont ever let his dc see him without having at least shorts on, he has a very childish view about a lot of things.

anyway once we went to bed last night he made a move and i said no-way, if my legs were that horrible then why on earth would he want to have sex with me.

aibu about this? do you always have your legs done? i shave under my arms every few days but thats because i am terrified of having b.o. i would leave them in the winter as well if i could.

btw my legs are not even that bad, i have fair hair so its only some dark hair around my ankles that are noticable, above that you cant see anything.

tell him to shave his legs then you'll shave yours. he is being a pig. it could be worse mind, my dh informed me that he doesn't fancy kylie anymore because she had breast cancer how is that for revolting.

donbean · 01/04/2008 11:02

no, i dont but then im a sluvenly slut.
can tbe arsed, whats the point in winter?
do them every couple of weeks if i remember, wouldnt do them at all if i could help it.

now my moustache is different. that bugger gets done every week or so.

funny, ive got hairier as ive got older, in places not very womanly as well.

HeadFairy · 01/04/2008 11:02

I did mine yesterday for the first time in about 6 weeks, I normally wax in summer, hate shaving, but was driven to it by disgust at my own hairiness, however I'm a swarthy Italian and it was baaaaad! I think in winter it's a given that hairiness can be left to flourish with gay abandon, so no I don't think yabu (but I'm a slob!)

laundrylover · 01/04/2008 11:03

I never shave my legs. Tell him to grow up and then get him to boil your mooncup as penance.

clayre · 01/04/2008 11:03

mine have been shaned twice since new year, i just dont see the point either, always in jeans but dp couldnt care less, i shave under my arms every few days too for the same reason

YANBU - your legs your hair you shave them when you like

(i'm releved that there's another hairy legged woman out there)

nickytwotimes · 01/04/2008 11:03

Hairy, I am very lazy about shaving my legs. Dh couldn't care less. I'd be totally pissed off if a guy made any remarks about my appearance like that. You're quite right - if he doesn't like your hairy legs, he's not getting any!

BetteNoir · 01/04/2008 11:03

Just plait your leg hairs and tie them with a bow.
You can tuck them down your socks when out and about.
Feminine yet convenient.

morningpaper · 01/04/2008 11:04

Like you say, it's not about the shaving or lack of it, it's about the way he communicated that

The leg hair is neither here or there, it's his attitude that's the problem

WanderingTrolley · 01/04/2008 11:05

I don't know if I should start waxing/shaving or not - even though I'm very old, I haven't got any hairier.

What do you think?

Me in bikini

hairybeary tell him to get a back, crack and sack wax.

well thank you everyone.

i said that to him last night, why should i have to shave my legs. where is it written that every woman has to do it, i thought we had moved on from trying to look like the perfect wife when our dh's come home from work.

he seems to think that i am taking it far to much to heart but it has really pissed me of.

MF, it only takes you 30 seconds to shave your legs?
Are you very tiny, or do you use a scythe?

lizandlulu · 01/04/2008 11:07

tell him to get real and read all these ladies replys.

i shave mine evey few weeks and have regrowth, but like you say, if you are always in trousers no-one sees.

Wezzle · 01/04/2008 11:07

yanbu

actually glad i'm not the only one that lets these things go

rofl bette

i may have to try that

frogs · 01/04/2008 11:07

YANBU. I don't shave my legs much in the winter either, tho am very blonde so not v. noticeable. Dh occasionally makes a jokey comment, but frankly I'm always teasing him about his body hair as well, so fair enough really. I don't do my armpits either.

Assuming he isn't having a full body wax himself every couple of weeks, he is being completely unreasonable.

Threadworm · 01/04/2008 11:08

My legs are the kind that need Agent Orange for effective jungle control, and my DP is quite unpeturbed when I leave them in their natural state, as I do sometimes in winter (cheaper than longjohns).

Mind you, DP is as hairy as a bear so to appear feminine to him, all I need is a good two-inch clearance between my ladygarden and the top of my knees.

nickytwotimes · 01/04/2008 11:09

Motherfunk, "it is important for you to feel attractive"
Why?
And anyway, that doesn't mean you must conform to a stereotypical image of what constitutes an attractive woman, does it?

BetteNoir · 01/04/2008 11:09

ROFL @Threadworm

nickytwotimes · 01/04/2008 11:09

lol at scythe, Bette!

hairybeary · 01/04/2008 11:09

motherfunk i wash my hair and wear make up every day. i always have nice clothes on and never slob around in trakies or anything. i feel that i make more than enough effort and he should at least compliment me on this before picking up on my one fault, and as for trying to be attrative for him i really cant say that i find him attractive when i have to wipe his skid marks of the side of the toilet and clean up all the piss on the floor. if i can get over that surley he can look past a few hairs

MF, I am in awe!

nickytwotimes · 01/04/2008 11:12

Yes, mf, but again, why is it so important to feel attractive?

WanderingTrolley · 01/04/2008 11:13

Oh fine.

Just because I weigh 28 stone, you don't want to click on my bikini pic and be honest about me shaving or waxing.

Charming.
