aibu not shaving my legs

tis is causing a bit of friction (excuse the pun) between me and dh.

i really cant be bothered doing it, its the winter and i am living in jeans, when the summer comes round and i am in crops etc i will start doing it again then.

last night i had my legs streched out on the couch and he made a really childish comment about it, basically along the lines of he thinks its horrible and wants me to wear socks (in my own f**king house)

to be honest it was more the childish way he put it that pissed me right of, had he said it in a joking way i possibly would have toddled of upstairs and got a razor out.

this is the same man who finds periods yucky and wont ever let his dc see him without having at least shorts on, he has a very childish view about a lot of things.

anyway once we went to bed last night he made a move and i said no-way, if my legs were that horrible then why on earth would he want to have sex with me.

aibu about this? do you always have your legs done? i shave under my arms every few days but thats because i am terrified of having b.o. i would leave them in the winter as well if i could.

btw my legs are not even that bad, i have fair hair so its only some dark hair around my ankles that are noticable, above that you cant see anything.

YANBU, my DP actually says its my choice whether to shave or not, im always saying i wont have SEXY TIME untill ive shaved but he says im being silly and that he doesnt mind either way, awww

mylittlepudding · 01/04/2008 12:57

YANBU

It is amazing that intelligent women believe they need to "feel attractive" and that they think that equals removing their body hair. It's very sad, actually. Why do people think like this? - a male-driven societal pressure.

If I had the self-esteem, I'd hardly ever bother. But, I don't have the nerve so I wax/shave legs and underarms for swimming. I wax/shave if it's a hot summer to cool down, or going on holiday, same reason.

But don't you see, the reason you thin like that is that you have been conditioned - by a male driven society - to think that that is why you want smooth skin?

I don't want anyone that has hangups about normal natural body hair to find me attractive, thanks. Are they the same type of men that think breasts aren't for feeding and the genital tract isn't for pushing out babies???

madmuggle · 01/04/2008 13:25

I feel better without hair, but if I can't be bothered I don't bother. There's a niche in the market for a depilatory cream you can bathe in. Pin your hair up, sink in to your shoulders for ten minutes and then off to the shower for a clean off.

Anyone got the science for the idea? I'll share profits!

Why thank ye MF! I'm sure it'd be doable. Make it milder and then you can do the soak. There must be a chemist on here somewhere. I'd love stress free hairlessness. Shaving irritates and waxing involves more time than I have available

BexieID · 01/04/2008 14:09

DF has made the odd comment on mine being more hairy than his! He's not bothered though by it. I don't always shave undr my arms either as it makes me scratch like a monkey for a few days after!

MamaChris · 01/04/2008 14:21

YANBU. I never shave my legs, dp never worries about it. the only time it got mentioned was when I was 8 months pregnant and dp asked "are you going to shave your legs before you go into labour?"

minorityrules · 01/04/2008 14:35

Does anyone know when women started to remove leg and underarm hair? Always wondered

I assume your DH is some sort of Geek god who is perfectly beautiful in every way?(except the way he treats his wife of course)

kikid · 01/04/2008 14:57

I don't shave my legs in winter, I do my underarms if i can be bothered, my dp thinks it should be all off regularly, I THINK HE SHOULD GO AND HAVE A BACK CRACK & SACK, & told him so, he's not mentioned it since.... I'll do it when i want to...... I really blame the media & pornography, the younger generation of males think all women are bald underarms and between the legs!!!

ipanemagirl · 01/04/2008 15:14

some of us could model on this site!

ipanemagirl · 01/04/2008 15:16

i don't see where it is difficult to shave your legs whilst pregnant.

i did the entire time both times and was HUGE.

you can still see the leg if you prop it up on the side of the bath.

and yes, you can still reach it.

for the bikini area, you can either have it waxed or if you wax at home, do it in front of a long mirror.

expatinscotland · 01/04/2008 15:29

women and men have removed body hair for centuries.

it's not a recent thing in history.

pairs of tweezers that are unbelievably old have been unearthered at archeological sites.
