aibu not shaving my legs

tis is causing a bit of friction (excuse the pun) between me and dh.

i really cant be bothered doing it, its the winter and i am living in jeans, when the summer comes round and i am in crops etc i will start doing it again then.

last night i had my legs streched out on the couch and he made a really childish comment about it, basically along the lines of he thinks its horrible and wants me to wear socks (in my own f**king house)

to be honest it was more the childish way he put it that pissed me right of, had he said it in a joking way i possibly would have toddled of upstairs and got a razor out.

this is the same man who finds periods yucky and wont ever let his dc see him without having at least shorts on, he has a very childish view about a lot of things.

anyway once we went to bed last night he made a move and i said no-way, if my legs were that horrible then why on earth would he want to have sex with me.

aibu about this? do you always have your legs done? i shave under my arms every few days but thats because i am terrified of having b.o. i would leave them in the winter as well if i could.

btw my legs are not even that bad, i have fair hair so its only some dark hair around my ankles that are noticable, above that you cant see anything.

I was talking about my experiences of having sex with hairy and hairless women and how I think it doesn't make any difference. I honestly can't see how hairlessness could make any difference to the ease of head-giving, unless you are particularly ignorant of female anatomy and your partner was terribly hairy!

You might prefer hairlessness, but that's all it is- a preference. Don't tart it up as inherently better for sex 'cos that's not how it is.

I think hairless male genitals look a bit like plucked turkeys, very unappetising, but each to their own!

Gettin a pube in your mouth is a minor inconveniece, IMO. I don't see what the fuss is about.

krang · 02/04/2008 13:38

I have never shaved my pubes, very rarely shave my legs and armpits.

Luckily my DH is an adult and finds me incredibly attractive because of who I am, not what I look like.

Do it for yourself, fine, whatever, but do it for someone else? No frickin' way.

colacubes · 02/04/2008 13:52

I shave, probably twice a week, mostly because I want to have smooth legs for dp, on the off chance we get 5 mins alone, and to be honest I wanna feel alluring!! (not that you have to have smooth legs for that)

I dont think it would really matter that much to dp, I have gone weeks before now, and he still rubs my legs when we sit together. But men are visual creatures, maybe its a oh looks like a fellas leg thing! as for privates, yeah I trim down there or shave depending on how bothered i am or if remembered to plug the leccy razor in.

But have to say I vere to the shouldnt be such a big deal side of the tracks, as for men, a trim would be helpful, some folks can be very bushy, could do with a weed wacker!

Looooong thread - which I haven;t read. But YANBU. If you don't want to shave your legs it's nothing to do with him - cheeky pig! Withholding sex is not the best thing to get into though, it's kind of straying into bargaining and you don't want to go there.

Does he shave every single day, even on holidays or if he has had a terrible day?

He sounds like a bit of prude who thinks that natural body functions should be hidden away.

zippitippitoes · 02/04/2008 15:54

exactly i didnt say hairy legs were dirty

i shave mine everyday in the shower

i emerge from whole process feeling clean and tidy

i emerge from the swimming pool feeling invigorated healthier and clean and tidy too..doesnt mean i think people who dont go swimming are dirty or unhe;lathy or debilitated

having your haircut is the same surely

people favour different styles

leg hair or no leg hair is similar decision to how to style your hair

zippitippitoes · 02/04/2008 15:55

its just not anything to do with feminism

cheesesarnie · 02/04/2008 16:00

CoteDAzur · 02/04/2008 18:33

LOL @ krang's DH finding her "incredibly attractive because of who I am, not what I look like"

Love you for who you are - sure.
Find you 'incredibly attractive' for your inner beauty - sorry, we're not buying today

Am still laughing at Bette's plaiting it and sticking it in her socks and at Wandering Trolley's ape in a bikini look.

Am very lazy about matters depilatory BUT if DH specifically pointed out something which was a turn-off then I WOULD address it, so I suppose I think YABU. Having said that, he is being unreasonable to not express things more delicately.

2GIRLS · 04/04/2008 22:07

Lovecat-if you could see my legs in their unshaven state you would understand why I shave them if I wear cropped trousers or a swimming costume, in fact if you saw them you'd probably pin me down and shave them yourself.

But when I said 'women don't have hairy legs' I didn't mean mean this is what I believe, this is what we have been conditioned to think and there aren't many women who would go out with their hairy legs on show regardless of what they thought society should accept and quite frankly, even though I believe that women should be able to show all their hair from moustaches to nipple hair, I am NOT going to be the one to lead the way.
