AIBU to find Liza Tarbuck annoying ?

I stumbled across her Radio 2 programme earlier this evening whilst exploring the various stations. I didn't know who it was until she mentioned her own name. Admittedly she did play some decent music but managed to talk utter drivel between every record. I didn't think it was possible to have access to a bottomless pit of verbal vacuous nonsense but evidently it is. I'm fully prepared to be told that lots of people like her and that's her broadcasting style and I am therefore BU. I don't think I'll be tuning in again.

For context, I was listening to Clive Anderson on Radio 4 beforehand and he can be cringeworthy at times. But nothing like Liza Tarbuck. BTW, does she put that voice on or is it her normal speech?

Always sounds like she is 3 sheets to the wind to me

Wytchy · 13/01/2024 21:05

I used to like her in Watching (well, not her so much but the show in general) but that's about 300 years ago now.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 13/01/2024 21:05

She mentioned micro dosing on mushrooms once so I think she is high

JimmyGrimble · 13/01/2024 21:06

I think she’s lovely. Very warm and funny. I enjoy her show.

x88mph · 13/01/2024 21:06

I loved her on Taskmaster.

Chasingsquirrels · 13/01/2024 21:07

Omg I last about 10 mins then have to turn it off!

Wednesdaysotherchild · 13/01/2024 21:07

YANBU - I find both her and Liz Kershaw are v hard to listen to.

TheTecknician · 13/01/2024 21:08

Not only me. Thank goodness.

She was hilarious on Taskmaster but I can't stand her radio show.

RitzyMcFee · 13/01/2024 21:09

Yes, I watched the Taskmaster she was in recently on Netflix and she was great.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 13/01/2024 21:09

YABVU Liza's show is now the only Radio 2 show I bother tuning in for. I love her.

Mrsgreen100 · 13/01/2024 21:10

in complete agreement, just awful on the radio

ArcticBells · 13/01/2024 21:10

When she used to cover the Early Breakfast Show I had to turn her off. Dreadful.

Infusedwithchamomileandmint · 13/01/2024 21:12

It makes me cringe, I have to turn it off immediately.

DryIce · 13/01/2024 21:14

I have never heard her show, but I will always love her for giving me the hops scene in Taskmaster

Same here! I think she’s hilarious and she was the first woman to talk about “menopausal madness” on any show, so good for her I say. She plays great music too.

lljkk · 13/01/2024 21:17

I dash to radio to turn off if it's LT.

NahHumBrag · 13/01/2024 21:17

I also love her radio show. Brilliant Saturday radio - combo of great music and great presenter. I think she’s awesome.

TinyRebel · 13/01/2024 21:17

YANBU. I can’t listen to her at all - it has to go off. Have a similar reaction to Alan Carr.

TheTecknician · 13/01/2024 21:20

@TinyRebel I cannot bear Alan Carr. He squeezes every last ounce out of the camp card.

Oh I absolutely love her! She was on Taskmaster and I just loved her. Absolutely lovely, eccentric woman. I’d love her as a mate.

Tell me you don't understand what micro-dosing is...

I like her, but I can also see how her style is irritating, it can come across quite false but as far as I know (from people who know her personally), she is like that all the time pretty much.

DavidBattenburgh · 13/01/2024 21:26

I'm a fan and then she's followed by sounds of the 80's - a perfect Saturday night - if it wasn't for the tax return Envy

DonnasShrugaleros · 13/01/2024 21:30

It's one of the only radio 2 shows I listen to, I love how bonkers it is and find it really uplifting. I also like it when Shaun Keaveney sits in for her.

Seashor · 13/01/2024 21:33

I bloody love her show, it’s got a huge, loyal following and I’m one of them.
