I stumbled across her Radio 2 programme earlier this evening whilst exploring the various stations. I didn't know who it was until she mentioned her own name. Admittedly she did play some decent music but managed to talk utter drivel between every record. I didn't think it was possible to have access to a bottomless pit of verbal vacuous nonsense but evidently it is. I'm fully prepared to be told that lots of people like her and that's her broadcasting style and I am therefore BU. I don't think I'll be tuning in again.

For context, I was listening to Clive Anderson on Radio 4 beforehand and he can be cringeworthy at times. But nothing like Liza Tarbuck. BTW, does she put that voice on or is it her normal speech?

Her normal voice I think. She's actually a brilliant actress (Watching, Victoria Wood etc.) but I don't like her on radio

i haven't listened for a while but I thought she was great. Warm, funny, interesting music and definitely her own person, not a run-of-the-mill DJ.

It's one of the only radio 2 shows I listen to, I love how bonkers it is and find it really uplifting. I also like it when Shaun Keaveney sits in for her.

That's exactly what makes her so insufferable. That painfully unfunny "I'm mad, me" schtick.
(I know this is an old thread but it has popped up in Active.)

She comes across as either incredibly thick or drunk, or both.

Pomped · 10/09/2024 20:21

Another who finds her as insufferable on R2 as Elaine Paige

Oh my goodness EP and that awful fake laugh! Unbearable.

Just stumbled across this thread after nine months and I haven't heard Miss Tarbuck since. Is she still on R2?

I like listening to her but then again I also like Zoe Ball and Sara Cox.

Liza combines wistful nostalgia and barmy life observations and makes me LOL. Fantastic music which needs a good tamborining on a Saturday night.
I Love Her (massive crush)

Stigsmother · 15/10/2024 18:42

she absolutely is thank goodness, still as unhinged as ever 😊

Willmafrockfit · 15/10/2024 18:55

she is great

allaloneandlost · 16/10/2024 19:47

It's a gentle witty show on the vinaigrettes of the everyday with some great music.
