I stumbled across her Radio 2 programme earlier this evening whilst exploring the various stations. I didn't know who it was until she mentioned her own name. Admittedly she did play some decent music but managed to talk utter drivel between every record. I didn't think it was possible to have access to a bottomless pit of verbal vacuous nonsense but evidently it is. I'm fully prepared to be told that lots of people like her and that's her broadcasting style and I am therefore BU. I don't think I'll be tuning in again.

For context, I was listening to Clive Anderson on Radio 4 beforehand and he can be cringeworthy at times. But nothing like Liza Tarbuck. BTW, does she put that voice on or is it her normal speech?

I love her she's brilliant. Love her in Upstart Crow 😍

ooooohnoooooo · 14/01/2024 00:10

I absolutely love her.

She's funny and a teensy bit mad but rather joyfully entertaining

AndOnAndOn1000 · 14/01/2024 00:44

She’s great.
Natural and witty.

SweetFemaleAttitude · 14/01/2024 01:28

I LOVE her. Her radio show is a lovely 2 hours of unadulterated joy. The music she plays is so eclectic and I find her very funny.

Radio 2 Saturdays I listen all day. Well not now they've swapped Fambo for Steve Wright FFS.

But everyone has different tastes and that's completely fine. There's an off button on everything for this exact reason.

SweetFemaleAttitude · 14/01/2024 01:29

Gambo not fambo

She is a goddess with a wicked witt.
Absolutely love her. 😂

I agree. She is a goddess. Anyone remember Linda Green? I loved that programme

ODFOx · 14/01/2024 01:34

I love her. She's quite deliberately like a slightly eccentric auntie. I think she's funny and warm and kind. I wish she were my aunt or big sister, in spite of the fact she's probably younger than me. Her show is like a warm hug.

Lysianthus · 14/01/2024 01:54

Love her.

Ramalangadingdong · 14/01/2024 01:57

I can’t stand Alan Carr and I find LT annoying. So I guess I am team @TheTecknician

Phonedown · 14/01/2024 02:00

You are not being unreasonable for not liking her radio show. You are being unreasonable for starting a thread looking to give a woman's personality a thrashing.

I think she's great.

I listen every week as have nobody to talk to. It's like having a friend. Warm, funny and eccentric. Very gentle as well with different music and a good mix. I like Gary Davies afterwards.

I miss Ken Bruce, Paul O'Grady and Terry Wogan. The music on Radio 2 is mostly modern. Hard to follow now.

I agree, listening to Lisa is like meeting up with an old friend. She is very companionable and I enjoy her choice of music.
I miss Paul O’Grady and Janice Long on the radio too.

nutbrownhare15 · 14/01/2024 04:18

I know what you mean. It took a little while to get used to her style but now I enjoy it. I was the same with Mark and Lard on radio 1 in the 90s. There are in jokes and when you listen for the first time, you don't get it. Over time, you start to understand and then you feel part of the gang.

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 14/01/2024 04:21

I really like her.

Always sounds like she is 3 sheets to the wind to me

lol I always think that too 🤣
I love listening to Rylan on before her but have to turn her off I'm afraid ... don't like the music so may have listened to more, but can't

crikeycrumbsblimey · 14/01/2024 07:08

I completely love her

MaybeImbad · 14/01/2024 07:14

I like her a lot.

Truth is OP, it’s a big world and not everyone warms to the same people.

YANBU for not being a fan, YABU for starting a thread trashing a woman’s personality just because it’s not your cup of tea. Why? You want everyone to like exactly the same things as you? You hope she and her friends will read it and be upset? I don’t get this sort of nasty internet posting at all.

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 14/01/2024 07:16

How lovely. A thread to bash someone.

Just switch it off. No need to be horrible about someone doing their job.

LlynTegid · 14/01/2024 07:16

Don't listen to her radio show, but thought she was very good in Upstart Crow. Don't like her dad at all incidentally.

Who died and made you the arbiter of radio DJ’s? You tuned into a radio programme and didn’t like it and….. I’m not sure your preference needs to be litigated.

Yirk · 14/01/2024 07:22

She is bonkers and I love her radio show.

newyearnewnothing · 14/01/2024 07:28

She is fabulous and I have a bit of a crush on her!

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/01/2024 07:29

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 13/01/2024 21:09

YABVU Liza's show is now the only Radio 2 show I bother tuning in for. I love her.

Same here.

NOTANUM · 14/01/2024 07:37

I can’t listen and switch off. She’s similar to Sarah Cox in the zaniness but doesn’t have Sarah’s verbal gymnastics and wit.
I don’t know why people are criticising the OP for starting the thread. Not everyone likes the same TV series, host, radio presenter.. We literally discuss all of this endlessly on MN every single day!

Teasmaidavale · 14/01/2024 07:51

I love her wackiness! It helps me to remember the fun/silly side of life and I love her show, because of how bonkers and lovely it is.
