I stumbled across her Radio 2 programme earlier this evening whilst exploring the various stations. I didn't know who it was until she mentioned her own name. Admittedly she did play some decent music but managed to talk utter drivel between every record. I didn't think it was possible to have access to a bottomless pit of verbal vacuous nonsense but evidently it is. I'm fully prepared to be told that lots of people like her and that's her broadcasting style and I am therefore BU. I don't think I'll be tuning in again.

For context, I was listening to Clive Anderson on Radio 4 beforehand and he can be cringeworthy at times. But nothing like Liza Tarbuck. BTW, does she put that voice on or is it her normal speech?

I love her show! She comes across as extremely down to earth and very funny with great taste in music.

Extremely down to earth?
The earth we actually inhabit or another one in a parallel universe?

Thedogscollar · 14/01/2024 09:22

Liza Tarbuck is very, very funny and your sense of humour has gone AWOL if you don't like her.
You are obviously being very, very unreasonable OP.

Are you aware of indivual folk having an individual sense of humour?
Drivel and OTT voices aren't remotely funny to me, but I certainly wouldn't say my sense of humour is AWOL, far from it.

Trusttheprocess1 · 14/01/2024 09:27

I absolutely love Liza Tarbuck and her radio show. I think she’s hugely underrated; I thought ‘Linda Green’ was brilliant years ago.
Agree about Alan Carr, he seems very false and don’t get me started on Elaine Paige…when she laughs I want to hire a hitman…

Dearie me have you ever heard of a tongue in cheek comment.
Talk about an over reaction.
Get over yourself.

OhNoOhNo · 14/01/2024 09:31

I have never been able to stand Liza Tarbuck.

Hello Liza 👋

Going against the grain here - I hated her on Taskmaster.

Me too! She was an unpleasant mix of smug and "can't be arsed".

I've never listened to her radio show.

It was Claudia last week now Lisa. Is it some kind of anti Radio 2 women campaign.

Nobody feels the need to start a thread on Scott Mills or Steve Wright?🤔

Quite.

LindorDoubleChoc · 14/01/2024 08:48

I absolutely love Liza's show (PAULINE!!!) but quite understand she's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

I'm gutted that Claudia is leaving. But her excuse of spending more time with her family? My arse! We'll soon be seeing so much of her on TV that we'll get sick of her.

I already am

You might want to reread what you wrote initially, before you start mentioning irony.

Your comment makes no sense and is rude for the sake of it, but I guess it is MN so.....

ssd · 14/01/2024 09:42

I feel weirdly comforted listening to her, but its just by chance if im driving and shes on.

ssd · 14/01/2024 09:43

ODFOx · 14/01/2024 01:34

I love her. She's quite deliberately like a slightly eccentric auntie. I think she's funny and warm and kind. I wish she were my aunt or big sister, in spite of the fact she's probably younger than me. Her show is like a warm hug.

This exactly

Karwomannghia · 14/01/2024 09:48

@Perhapsanorhertimewouldbebetter I don’t think you mean me. Just saying the PP was clearly joking. Anyway you’re clearly upset, so I apologise. Have a lovely Sunday!

You are now being deliberately obtuse.
My original comment was tongue in cheek to the OP. You came in all guns blazing with your post.
Honestly lighten up fgs it's a fairly light hearted thread about Liza Tarbuck on a Sunday morning.
Anyway @TheTecknician you don't like her I do so imo YABU 🤷 Bye all have a nice day.

I was replying to you.
I'm not upset.
You have a great Sunday too (meant genuinely, as I'm taking yours).

Karwomannghia · 14/01/2024 09:52

Thanks! I should really get up and go out!!

zingally · 14/01/2024 09:53

I like her. I tend to put the radio on while I'm making the dinner. I agree that it's all a bit vacuous silly nonsense, but surely that's what Saturday teatime radio should be?

Not being obtuse.
Didn't come in 'all guns blazing', simply made a valid comment.
Twice you've made not very pleasant comments (get over yourself, lighten up), both of which probably indicate who probably needs to do those things.
Moving on...

Strugglingtodomybest · 14/01/2024 09:55

I like her, she makes me laugh.

To the posters who miss the old R2 presenters, I think they're all on Greatest Hits radio now! Ken Bruce seems to have just picked up his show and moved it over: same time, same quiz etc.

Talking of presenters we don't like, I was over the moon when I heard Steve Wright would no longer be on in the afternoon. Imagine my disappointment when they announced that Scott Mills would be taking his place. Scott Mills was the reason I swapped from R1 to R2 😭

Perhapsanorhertimewouldbebetter · 14/01/2024 09:55

I hereby conclude that Lisa Tarbuck is indeed like Marmite.
Happy Sunday all.
