Regarding his sandwich.

if looked so delicious on Instagram.

In actuality it was horrible. Prosciutto is like raw bacon. Mozzarella didn’t melt. Olive oil is tasteless grease. I like pesto with spaghetti but not, as it turns out, in a sandwich.

i was so looking forward to it. Went shopping on the way home specially 😕

What food have you had that didn’t live up to expectation?

Have to totally disagree with you there op. I love all those ingredients, especially in a toasted ciabatta.

Excited101 · 03/01/2024 14:54

He can fuck off with his cougette spaghetti too. It was nice, but it took literallly hours to make and SO much oil!

mikado1 · 03/01/2024 14:55

YABU as that sounds amazing 😋

HobbitLass · 03/01/2024 14:56

What olive oil are you using? A half decent one will have a really good, meaty flavour with a nice complexity!

Stresa22 · 03/01/2024 14:58

I can’t stand him after he left his wife to die without him because it would have been too much for him to take. 😡

Whaaaat?? 😮😕

I did suspect he might be a wrongun. The way he says mozzarella is a giveaway. Even Italians don’t say it as italian-y as he does. Pretentious.

??? I read that and thought Thom Yorke surely. It can't be that common that they both did it.

What do you mean that he left his wife to die without him? @Stresa22. I knew his first wife died after having cancer but I didn’t know he left her to die alone.

He also cheated on her with Edie Falco (The Sopranos). They separated for a while but got back together.

Apparently its pretty standard practice that when a woman gets terminally ill thier partner leaves, so much so that doctors and nurses prepare the female by speaking about it.

Anyway i also dont like pesto on sandwiches, just pasta or salmon.

Stresa22 · 03/01/2024 15:13

I mean he said he couldn’t be in the room when she died but that her sister was there. Maybe her mom as well.

Ouch. Today I learned.

I hadn’t realised how prevalent it is.

😂
as an actor I loved him. I found him embarrassing on the Italian food programs. He just stands around making ‘mm yummy’ noises

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 03/01/2024 15:15

To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why?
My late wife – she died of cancer. We tried everything we could do to save her. I wish that I could have done more and that I could have been with her at the moment she passed away. I couldn’t be in that room, because I knew it would be so devastating that I wouldn’t be able to take care of the kids after.

Interview in the Guardian https://amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/jan/23/stanley-tucci-interview

He had quite a lot to apologise to her for. He was a terrible husband. I hope he's a better husband the second time around.

Well, that escalated quickly

Stresa22 · 03/01/2024 15:16

Yeah sorry about that!

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 03/01/2024 15:16

Jfc a character assassination over a bloody sandwich.

Stresa22 · 03/01/2024 15:18

I’m not assassinating his character. He did what he did.

This 👆he is a grim, weak, pathetic little man.

Great. Another lesson I need to teach my sons- don’t be selfish beeeps if someone belonging to you is dying.

Duh · 03/01/2024 15:23

Hang on there is a difference between not being in the room when your spouse dies and totally fucking off when they are ill a la Thom Yorke.

I am not saying the former is ok but I don’t think he should be judged as if he did the latter.

Mirabai · 03/01/2024 15:27

I’m not keen on Stanley Tucci but the interview doesn’t say that he left his wife, it says he couldn’t be in the room with her the moment she died. That’s a very personal decision and it’s ok. Some people don’t want to see their loved one dead. My exMIL recently made the same decision and she was devoted to her late DH. My aunt was with my uncle when he died and she always regretted seeing him dead as it traumatised her.

Anyway, back to pesto.

Maybe save that for lesson #2, with lesson #1 being "your wife, partner or girlfriend does not 'belong' to you".
