DH and his fucking chilli

DH smothers everything in chilli, even though he can’t handle spicy food himself. Everytime he makes chicken it’s smothered in chilli and ends up where neither of us can eat it. He does it every fucking time!!!

Tonight he decided to randomly make some roast potatoes as a snack 🫤 to said I didn’t want any and he got all l offended so I said if you make cheesy potatoes I’ll eat them … so that’s what he did. He’s spent over an hour and a half making these fucking things … they smelt nice, all covered in melted cheese - lovely! Except when I bit into one my mouth was suddenly on fire. Yep, he’s smothered then in chilli. We now have a full bowl of cheesy potatoes sat there that neither of us can eat. I ask why he does this and he doesn’t answer me! I think it’s so weird. It would be different if he loved spicy food but he can’t tolerate it any better than I can!

what a waste

Ask him to make you a portion with no chilli's.

coldcallerbaiter · 04/11/2023 21:05

Google the risks of too many chillis for the body and scare him

I’m sorry, I know I’m going to sound really rude but is there something wrong with him mentally? Why would he do this 🥴

😂😂😂

Humpfree · 04/11/2023 21:06

He’s actually a lovely man 😂 he just has the most infuriating habits. They’ve gone back in the kitchen now and he said he’ll take them to work next week (he won’t)

Wouldnt be so bad if it was just a hint of chilli but it’s inedible, painful to eat.

He once went to asda to buy one of those takeaway for 2 packs … I told him not to ger anything hot.

He came back with vindaloo which neither of us could eat. It drives me insane. I’ve asked him again just now why he does it and he just makes a joke of it but it’s such a pointless waste of food

How much chilli is he using? The idea sounds delicious, but it's obviously too much.

Sorry, op, he's just sounding dumber and dumber.

Bobtheamazinggingerdog · 04/11/2023 21:08

Did he buy the scotch bonnets? Surely everyone knows they are extremely hot? I love chilli but I had to dilute a dish I made which had 1/2 a scotch bonnet in for 4 people with a can of tomatoes because it was too burny. What's wrong with him??

dragonseal · 04/11/2023 21:08

Why is he doing this? What is wrong with him?

Wait, what? I eat tons of chilli, the spicier the better. I read that they're good for you.

AllotmentTime · 04/11/2023 21:10

Is he using this deliberately because he wants the food but also wants to stop himself eating it? Is he weight conscious?

It's pretty disordered eating if he is.

JetBlackSteed · 04/11/2023 21:10

Is he following recipes and using a scotch bonnet instead of a regular "normal" chilli? It's just that a little bit of chilli sounds lovely on cheesy roast potatoes sounds lovely. Does he know that different chili's have different levels of heat?

Humpfree · 04/11/2023 21:10

He buys them, I wouldn’t! 😂 even when I make chilli con carne I only use a teaspoon of chilli powder. He’s obsessed with scotch bonnets at the minute.

He used one whole chilli for a bowl of potatoes for 2 of us

Keep the chilli food and serve it to him repeatedly while the rest of you get something edible. He made it, he can eat it. Or go hungry.

TomatoSandwiches · 04/11/2023 21:11

You'll have to hand his photo out to every supermarket in a 5 mile radius telling them to refuse this man the purchase of chillies op.

This!!

It's not normal or rational behaviour! He can't just shrug his shoulders like a ten year old and claim he doesn't know why!

pikkumyy77 · 04/11/2023 21:14

Its really not usual for a person not to be able to account for their own actions and the consequences of their actions. I don’t understand how he can be lovely and also cook food neither of you can eat. Does he just stare at you dumbly when you point out that you can’t eat what he has cooked.

I think some men believe that spicy food eating = pure masculinity.

i’ve sat through so many curries over the years with various fucking doughnuts who have ordered a vindaloo and have spent the whole night with their nose running and eyes streaming

Eh?! How can he be obsessed with something that he can't eat?

Emeraldsanddiamonds · 04/11/2023 21:14

This is so peculiar. I wouldn't let him joke it off. I'd insist he sat down and discussed it with me about why he did this repeatedly when neither of you can eat it. Does he have some OCD tendencies?

Chromium24 · 04/11/2023 21:15

i guess its like me and salt, sometimes i accidently use too much salt but most of time i moderate it

itsmylife7 · 04/11/2023 21:15

He's using scotch bonnet and probably the seeds 👺

therealcookiemonster · 04/11/2023 21:16

this is insane. I am Bangladeshi, we eat green chillies whole as a side dish/snack, even we don't go near scotch bonnets except in very small amounts.
