DH and his fucking chilli

Humpfree · 04/11/2023 20:47

DH smothers everything in chilli, even though he can’t handle spicy food himself. Everytime he makes chicken it’s smothered in chilli and ends up where neither of us can eat it. He does it every fucking time!!!

Tonight he decided to randomly make some roast potatoes as a snack 🫤 to said I didn’t want any and he got all l offended so I said if you make cheesy potatoes I’ll eat them … so that’s what he did. He’s spent over an hour and a half making these fucking things … they smelt nice, all covered in melted cheese - lovely! Except when I bit into one my mouth was suddenly on fire. Yep, he’s smothered then in chilli. We now have a full bowl of cheesy potatoes sat there that neither of us can eat. I ask why he does this and he doesn’t answer me! I think it’s so weird. It would be different if he loved spicy food but he can’t tolerate it any better than I can!

what a waste

Throw the chill away, don't buy any more, put something that looks like chill but is innocuous in the chill container....

Alternatively supervise and challenge!

FictionalCharacter · 04/11/2023 22:34

BrightLightTonight · 04/11/2023 22:02

That doesn’t answer the question

The OP can’t answer the question though can she. He’s buying them not her, and he can’t even explain to her why he’s doing this, he just says he doesn’t know or makes a joke.

spidermonkeys · 04/11/2023 22:37

CaravaggiosCat · 04/11/2023 21:22

Sounds like he's trying to to control your food intake.
Has he ever said anything about your eating habits or weight or has he got his own body issues?

That is an absolute stretch. What an odd conclusion to come to

Caswallonthefox · 04/11/2023 22:37

If he's the one buying chili's in any form, why not check when he's not around and chuck 'em in a bin miles away. Then plead ignorance as to where they went?

LatteLady · 04/11/2023 22:39

Well OP, you have solved the Christmas present dilemma, send him on a cooking with chilli course BUT tell them what the issues are so that they can guide him on how and when to use them. However until he has completed the course, he is not allowed to bring any chillis into the house. Unfortunately, chilli festivals are scheduled for the summer... and I don't think you can wait that long.

StarlightLime · 04/11/2023 20:48

He sounds spectacularly thick.

This 😂😂Oh my Lord.

pinkfondu · 04/11/2023 22:41

Does he have an eating disorder or a problem with your weight?

Guesswho88 · 04/11/2023 22:42

Moonwatcher1234 · 04/11/2023 22:08

Sorry but this is making me laugh so much - I don’t know if it’s the fact that he doesn’t like chilli either but is chucking it in everything of the fact that roast potatoes are apparently a snack?!

Me too 😂

Guesswho88 · 04/11/2023 22:45

StarlightLime · 04/11/2023 21:08

Sorry, op, he's just sounding dumber and dumber.

This is a scream 😂

pinkfondu · 04/11/2023 22:46

No one is that stupid btw it's deliberate

WhereYouLeftIt · 04/11/2023 22:49

I would make him fucking eat it. All of it.

Guesswho88 · 04/11/2023 22:50

Humpfree · 04/11/2023 21:26

Yep, always have natural yogurt in due to Dhs cooking and chilli obsession

it’s annoying because he’s a great cook when he wants to be, he made a gorgeous beef casserole last week with no chilli

I’m so confused by why he does it. If it was a one off I’d say he just misjudged it but he does it weekly

he’s not trying to get me to eat less or anything like that, if anything he’s a feeder!

I love how you have to have natural yoghurt in the house as a precaution!! 😂😂

GettingColdFeet · 04/11/2023 22:57

You've told him you don't like chillis and he continues to put them in your food. He's either
(a) thick as shit (but I presume he holds down a job so he obviously manages to follow instructions at work) or...
(b) doing it deliberately knowing you don't like it, making a joke of it and not giving a fuck

So... do you want to be married to a dumbarse or someone who doesn't give a shit about you?? Personally, I wouldn't want to be married to either but before divorcing him, I'd cook with chillis for every meal I made for him (and him only), leaving him with nothing to eat while I ate my non-chilli meal.

I have zero time for stupid fuckers! Maybe it's the menopause?

Believeitornot · 04/11/2023 22:59

I wouldn’t let this go until he fucking explained his logic. What a dick.

Panaa · 04/11/2023 22:59

coldcallerbaiter · 04/11/2023 21:05

Google the risks of too many chillis for the body and scare him

It doesn't matter because he's not eating it!!

userxx · 04/11/2023 22:59

It’s a weird thing to do and very wasteful.

blueshoes · 04/11/2023 23:00

Is this a recent thing? How old is he?

PissOffKen · 04/11/2023 23:01

Is he trying to be the big man?

I used to really love hot food, it was a source of pride that I was a chili hardarse. I can’t do it anymore. If I have something too hot nowadays I spend the next 24 hours with crippling stomach cramps running back and forward to the loo, so guess what, I avoid the hot stuff.

Being a chilli badass only looks badass if you can actually eat it, otherwise you look like a knob. Tell your husband he looks like a knob. That or make him sit and eat all his toxic potatoes like the big badass hard man he thinks he is.

Panaa · 04/11/2023 23:01

spidermonkeys · 04/11/2023 22:37

That is an absolute stretch. What an odd conclusion to come to

First thing I thought of was that he as an eating disorder or is trying to sabotage OPs food so she eats less.

What he's doing is extremely odd, so there IS an odd reason behind what he's doing.

CanIPetThatDawg · 04/11/2023 23:02

He sounds like one of those guys who wants to make eating hot food a prominent part of their personality. He wants a wardrobe of hot sauces for other men to coo over and admire.

In time he'll come to terms with the fact he's more of a herbs guy. A marjoram man so to speak.

mommatoone · 04/11/2023 23:05

LTB !!!🌶

TomatoSandwiches · 04/11/2023 23:07

How long has he been doing this?

Is there a pattern to it, for example if you've recently had an argument or disagreement?

Could he be eating bits of food in secret whilst cooking so the spoilt food doesn't affect him particularly?

Tbh even though we had a giggle about it, if you look at this objectively he is either thick as shite or being deliberately nasty.

I'm not sure which is better tbh.

PissOffKen · 04/11/2023 23:11

And being a chilly badass doesn’t involve forcing hot food on your unwilling partner.

OP god knows why he’s doing this, but I’d suggest shoving his toxic food back at him and telling him to fill his boots, then laughing at him when he can’t eat it himself either. Just laugh at him, every single time.

userxx · 04/11/2023 23:12

Anyone else seeing Franks red hot sauce on the page 😂

Theunamedcat · 04/11/2023 23:15

spidermonkeys · 04/11/2023 22:37

That is an absolute stretch. What an odd conclusion to come to

Honestly I'm struggling to reach a conclusion that doesn't say mental breakdown brain tumour generalised stupidity? Everything is a stretch there is no logical conclusion that makes sense here it's like insisting on driving a car and crashing it every single time
