A carrot is NOT a suitable vegetable

Please settle an argument for me.

DH and I are both trying to improve our diets on the run up to Christmas, cutting down on booze, making food swaps etc.

This evening he has sat down in front of the television with a carrot instead of a bag of crisps. I know, I should be praising him right?

It’s just that I can’t forget my mother telling me that carrots are high in sugar and therefore not a diet food.
They also have suggestive connotations due to their phallic shape and I think if he is going to insist upon eating carrots he could at least cut them up so that they resemble something less crude.

He’s told me I’m barking mad.

But am I?

Devilsmommy · 21/10/2023 22:01

Well at least I know how to get little one eating carrots now, just tell him they're full of sugar, just like chocolate 🤣🤣🤣

I know this is a lighthearted thread but your mum gave you some really bad messages about food.

ThinWomansBrain · 21/10/2023 22:02

light hearted? - it's batshit

readbooksdrinktea · 21/10/2023 22:02

No bananas or peaches either then. I guess? You can't be serious.

AllegroConMoto · 21/10/2023 22:04

Has anyone mentioned aubergines yet, or is that just too filthy?

Whataretheodds · 21/10/2023 22:04

Barking

Miriam101 · 21/10/2023 22:04

God forbid he whips out his cucumber

INeedAnotherName · 21/10/2023 22:04

I assumed they were higher in sugar too. That's why they are used to sweeten cake, pizza and bolognese sauces.

Ha!

Thedm · 21/10/2023 22:04

Are you actually serious that the shape of a carrot makes you think they aren’t appropriate to eat? Really @MrsFloraPoste ?

CruCru · 21/10/2023 22:04

Carrots are a bit tricky if you and your husband are both horses. If you are humans then a carrot is pretty good for you.

Hapshepsut · 21/10/2023 22:05

Your mum had problems if she was hung up on the sugar content of carrots. Yes fruit and veg contain sugar, no that does not make them unsuitable for inclusion in a healthy diet.

NalafromtheLionKing · 21/10/2023 22:05

It’s fine, just save some cash by eating it afterwards.

CrabbiesGingerBeer · 21/10/2023 22:07

Looking at the time of your initial post, I assume you’ve had a few.

I’ve been known to fix on bizarre ideas when I’ve been on the gin, as well. 😂

Carrots are a good diet food (31 calories in a medium carrot and filling with it) although not as good as celery, cucumber etc and frankly you are coming across as barking mad.

AllegroConMoto · 21/10/2023 22:00

Is this the carrot he was eating, OP?

This has made my night the willy carrot😆

Baffled1989 · 21/10/2023 22:10

I suggest you seek help from a nutritionist.

and yes you are bonkers.

Lollypop701 · 21/10/2023 22:11

love a bit of carrot I do, maybe some hummus on the end. I eat them staring at dh .. Then he laughs at me being for a fuckwit and I thankfully go back to my dairy milk and crisps

ActDottie · 21/10/2023 22:12

You’re so barking mad I’m not convinced this is a real thread.

oktobeok · 21/10/2023 22:12

Awaits teeny tinies to tell us how unhealthy fruit and veg is with its high sugar content. It's a carrot OP.

And you sound like a 12 year old boy thinking it looks like dick.

Maybe you were aiming for classics and others will be howling and spitting out their tea soon while calling for it to be put in there.

LakeTiticaca · 21/10/2023 22:13

Jesus wept

Cas112 · 21/10/2023 22:14

Yep, barking mad

rockinginarockingchair · 21/10/2023 22:14

HAHAHAHAHAHA

From dads not aloud to give toddler biscuits.
To men who can't eat carrots.
MN is full of spanners and yes op you are one.
Maybe give him a sugar mouse much healthier.

oneuponedown · 21/10/2023 22:18

Don't know why but this has really ticked me. You are nuts OP

MrsFloraPoste · 21/10/2023 22:20

Deep breath…
Ok. I can see that I was perhaps unfair to him. I have apologised.
Carrots are obviously better than crisps.
It does seem a bit odd having to watch him eat whole ones though. Perhaps that says more about me than it does about him.
