I am fucking melting

I'm REALLY struggling in this heat. West Midlands.

I know we've barely had a summer and I know I should be enjoying this week but the amount I sweat is making me completely depressed. My hair is constantly wet, I have sweat running down my face as if it's raining, and I promise that is no exaggeration.

School run I could cry. It's so embarrassing being pouring of sweat, which then makes me sweat more I'm sure. It's nearly 1pm and the thought of the school run and being seen like this again is making tears come into my eyes.

Anyone who suffers from hair/face sweat, is there anything I can do?

Hair band to push hair off your face, water spray for your face when outside. No makeup, only sunscreen. Cotton or linen clothes.

Theunamedcat · 07/09/2023 12:59

I'm West Midlands too its BOILING

dontforgetme · 07/09/2023 13:01

Thanks for taking the time to give me some recs @dreamingchild

Unfortunately I already do all those things and nothing stops the sweat pouring off me.

South East and childminding new little ones who are settling and need holding a lot! They are raising my temp, I'm making them hotter, they're getting grumpier....no one is loving this!

dontforgetme · 07/09/2023 13:02

@Theunamedcat how horrendous was last night! My poor dd barely slept.

@KateyCuckoo oh gosh, I remember those days during the summer when mine were little. We'd be stuck together!

Didn't realise it was so hot up there. It's a lovely sunny day here (SE), about 29C which is perfect and really makes up for the crappy summer we've had, except for a couple of lovely weeks in June.

dontforgetme · 07/09/2023 13:04

29c is way to hot for some people. Me included.

I think it's time that we made lace parasols fashionable again.

MagicClawHasNoChildren · 07/09/2023 13:08

It's 28° here, in the SW, and I am not enjoying it. No tips, OP, but a lot of sympathy - I'm just leaving myself twice as long to do everything that involves going outside and sort of oozing around the place. Can't wait for it to be a bit cooler - 24-26° would be lovely!

Winnipeggy · 07/09/2023 13:08

Summer sucks, I don't know why anyone ever enjoys it

BarbedButterfly · 07/09/2023 13:09

I hate the heat so am totally miserable. 29c is hell

Thatsshallot1967 · 07/09/2023 13:10

Not sure if you have a cold ice pack, sort of flexible pad you put on injuries... but I find that putting this around my neck really really helps me cool down. Even wearing it out for shopping/school run - you won't look at idiot!

It’s 28 here but feels so much hotter. I usually enjoy the sunshine and sit in the garden but then I’m just pouring in sweat today so can’t really handle it. Feels like it’s at least 10 degrees hotter than it is

MelodiousThunk · 07/09/2023 13:10

Sadly it will be back to the usual crappy low 20s and overcast skies in a few days.

I am fucking melting
MariaVT65 · 07/09/2023 13:11

Yeah this weather is only acceptable when I am on holiday with access to aircon and lots of slushies.

Lilypickles1 · 07/09/2023 13:11

Botox helps!

RainCloudsInTheSky · 07/09/2023 13:12

I will be annoyed next week when the Greg skies inevitably appear!

I feel exactly the same about Autumn, Winter and most of Spring!

deplorabelle · 07/09/2023 13:12

It's hell. Use an umbrella as a sunshade .

People will probably comment because people are arseholes, but it's quite a common sight in hotter parts of the world

Read the sweaty room here! 😄
This is only ok if by a pool or the beach with a brolly and a cocktail.

Devilsmommy · 07/09/2023 13:13

West Midlands here too. 29 is ridiculous. I've got a 1 year old who is turning well grumpy from the heat. Last year when it hit 35 I was very heavily pregnant and hated it. I'm not a fan of heat😭

soundsys · 07/09/2023 13:13

Ugh I feel your pain! It's "only" 29C where I am but it didn't get lower than 20C over night so we're all very tired and grumpy.

Comedycook · 07/09/2023 13:13

Cheer up....it's September..this is fantastic. It will soon be cold and miserable.

Winnipeggy · 07/09/2023 13:14

Haha well at least my misery is shorter!
