Do you drink every day on holiday?

Wondering about this. Normally I stick to weekends for a few drinks, with the odd mid week couple of glasses of wine at an events or somesuch.

But on holiday we drank every day for a week. A beer or cocktail or two before dinner, and then sharing a bottle of wine for example. Had a weekend of no alcohol after coming home, just to get a break, but we're away this weekend again so will drink this weekend too.

If you drink, do you drink quite a bit more on holiday?

Yup 🤷🏻‍♀️

TryingToBeFirstDatesFredButNot · 31/08/2023 19:55

Yep! Definitely. But then I tend to cut right back for a few weeks after.

egowise · 31/08/2023 19:57

Yes

ISeeMisledPeople · 31/08/2023 19:57

I really don't drink often at home - I did have a beer the weekend before last, but that's because I had a friend over. I probably won't have anything this weekend or next.

But i definitely drink most days when I'm on holiday. Quite possibly every day.

sunshineandshowers40 · 31/08/2023 19:57

Yep! I drink every day and eat far too much on holiday!

Persiana · 31/08/2023 20:09

Yes drink every day on holiday, same as you - beer late pm and wine with dinner. Stick to weekends only normally so usually have a bit of a break when we get back

VickyEadieofThigh · 31/08/2023 20:10

Absolutely.

Sirzy · 31/08/2023 20:11

Yes, I had a drinks package which included free drinks so had a few alcoholic drinks throughout the day and enjoyed them all

LlynTegid · 31/08/2023 20:12

Yes more on holiday as I don't drink in my home.

Yes as we go on all
Inclusive and I'm getting my moneys worth 😂

nimski · 31/08/2023 20:13

Yep, best bit of holiday imo and much needed with my kids 😁

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 31/08/2023 20:16

I do drink a bit more but not every day necessarily. I’m a lightweight so I don’t have more than 1 or 2 and not every evening or I’d feel tired all week.

Happydays321 · 31/08/2023 20:16

Yes definitely.
I hardly drink at all normally but I do enjoy a bit more on holiday.

HarrietSchulenberg · 31/08/2023 20:16

I very rarely drink at all but somehow sank half a bottle of wine every night of my holiday this year.

Dentistlakes · 31/08/2023 20:17

I don’t drink any more (thanks peri menopause!), but when I did, yes I drank every day when on holiday. Probably similar to the amount you have. It’s not excessive imo, but others may disagree.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 31/08/2023 20:17

No not necessarily. I’ve just been on an AI holiday and didn’t drink every day. I like to feel well on holiday and I find there can be a bit of a “build up” even if I don’t drink much each day.

AnnieSnap · 31/08/2023 20:18

No, not at all. I don’t drink routinely, but used to enjoy cocktails on holiday. A couple of years ago, I realised it was the long, cold, fruity drink I enjoyed, not really the booze. I have the odd few drinks on holiday, but not daily.

Absolutely. Got to make it feel like a holiday (we usually only go away in the UK and stay in Airbnb!).

CountryStore · 31/08/2023 20:19

Yes, definitely. We started at breakfast in the hotel this year 🤷‍♀️

DongsOfPraise · 31/08/2023 20:22

Absolutely! Got tipsy rather than properly drunk and enjoyed myself immensely.

BlackForestCake · 31/08/2023 20:23

A bottle of wine between two isn't an amount that I would be concerned about, even if it's every day.

WithManyTot · 31/08/2023 20:24

Yeah,
Drinking is like any skill, it need practice. At the end of a week's holiday I am semi-pro, but when I get home I don't have the will power and lapse into not dirinking

Nutterjacks · 31/08/2023 20:24

Yes, normally have a couple in the afternoons around the pool then quite a few in the evenings after dinner till about midnight (when the entertainment has finished).

Also have a few drinks at home at the weekend.

gogomoto · 31/08/2023 20:25

Depends on the holiday, warm holidays eg ai yes, U.K. trips self catering no

Snugglemonkey · 31/08/2023 20:26

I do. I eat anything I fancy as well. I do not get drunk, but will have a glass of wine with lunch sometimes (although sometimes skip lunch if we have a big breakfast). I have a glass of wine with dinner and a gin (sometimes a couple), or a cocktail after. It is my holiday and I have what I feel like.
