I can’t help but feel that when you’re in a position of privilege and a celeb of any description, you shouldn’t by asking small independent businesses for free shit...

But, if you do, at least own it. The video of her belittling “the cake lady” really shows what a tramp she actually is.

Cakegate: Ex-Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley hits back after 'bizarre' row with Three Little Birds Bakery over free cakes

Three Little Birds Bakery said it declined a request from an events agency to make a cake and 100 cupcakes for the birthday of a "well-known" celebrity - later revealed to be Tyldesley - in exchange for promotion on social media and in a magazine.

It’s interesting. I work in PR and would never ever ask someone for freebies without paying. And I would also NEVER approach a third party without the approval of the client…:

her response was awful. As in textbook awful. The bakery hadn’t named her so there was no need for the snark.

I’ve looked through her insta and it’s absolutely full of #ad #gifted #pr #prstay so clearly her entire world revolves around being given freebies.

do I think the bakery needed to have gone public initially? Prob not. BUT the sheer cheeky duckers of asking for that volume of work for free was insane so I caN see why they did it.

CaramelMac · 03/08/2023 21:43

It’s pathetic really, she can afford a party and a company to organise her party but she doesn’t want to pay for the cake? All fur coat and no knickers.

ReyFinn · 03/08/2023 21:45

Her response was really bad, made it look even worse!

The fact the baker has baked for celebrities much more renowned than her, shows she wasn't just out for coverage.

Barrell · 03/08/2023 21:46

The response video is truly awful - tone deaf, much?

fusspot23 · 03/08/2023 21:46

I didn't like the comment about 'hoping the bakery got the exposure it desperately wanted.'

Really bitter and nasty.

andlwpan · 03/08/2023 21:46

Her response has just made me think she is a twat, the bakery didn't name her, that was someone else.

Furtivefig · 03/08/2023 21:46

She certainly hasn’t come out of this looking good!

TokyoSushi · 03/08/2023 21:47

It was bad enough anyway, but her response was really, really awful. Made me think she was a grifter and the story was indeed very likely to be true.

Anyhoodaloo · 03/08/2023 21:49

As awful as her dad 🙄

Radiat · 03/08/2023 21:51

I see she’s had to turn her comments off on instagram. I guess the replies weren’t going in her favour. Not surprised, her response was very snarky.

Dartmoorcheffy · 03/08/2023 21:51

Those sunglasses look absolutely ridiculous on her too.

purpleme12 · 03/08/2023 21:51

Hadn't seen it was her.
Mmmm

Jammydodger1981 · 03/08/2023 21:51

What’s her Dad done? I googled but couldn’t find anything.

Elphame · 03/08/2023 21:52

I am definitely going to adopt the bakery's response next time an influencer wants to book my holiday let in return for exposure.

Yes it happens and not infrequently. Normally I just ignore them.

TrundleWheel76 · 03/08/2023 21:52

The video was just awful. She cones across as petty and vindictive and I have absolutely no sympathy for her.

sittingonacornflake · 03/08/2023 21:53

I don't understand why didn't offer to pay when she heard about it. That would have been rest PR.

Dartmoorcheffy · 03/08/2023 21:54

What has her dad done? Are you mixing her up with someone else?

Humidititties · 03/08/2023 21:54

Yep she's pathetic. The bakery's original response was great, I'm 100% behind them on this

timeafterdime · 03/08/2023 21:56

I don't really know who she is but even I can see she's put a spoke in her own career by behaving like an entitled brat and then doubling down on it.

I did see her instagram video, someone shared it on twitter as "when you order Mrs Merton from Wish" which made me laugh long and hard.

Foolish woman.

WildSideWalk · 03/08/2023 21:59

It must really hurt the amount of times she’s been referred to as a Z-lister which she absolutely is.

ReyFinn · 03/08/2023 22:00

If I was her, I'd have said I didn't know about the emails (if that was true), and would immediately approach the bakery to pay in full for their services.

Instead she just comes across as spoilt and snotty.

blacknredsweeties · 03/08/2023 22:04

Imagine having that money to pay someone to order you a cake eh?

Rockschooldropout · 03/08/2023 22:05

I saw the bakers post and applaud her .. in the events industry this seems commonplace and beggars belief to expect skilled people to work for free . Catherine s response was below the belt and unpleasant. I doubt very much that the baker needs any kind of publicity .
I work in events and have worked for high profile clients , but was contacted by a tv programme Real Housewives of Cheshire in 2016 to provide my services in return for “exposure” and responded to them with a similiar email … not surprisingly I didn’t get a response back !
You can die of exposure 🤣

Merryoldgoat · 03/08/2023 22:08

That’s a great video.

It shows you exactly who she is. Petty, vicious, and cheap.

Catskidsandme · 03/08/2023 22:11

My wedding cake was made by little birds. The baker, Becky, went out of her way to send cupcakes of flavours I loved at the tasting but didn't choose for the actual cake to my honey moon. Im not lying when I say I was blown away by the cake. The flavours are something else. Im a sweet tooth and anything Becky or her team make are phenomenal. My dh gets me treats from there sometimes.
Becky is a genuinely lovely person. She recently helped me find a baker for a cake I needed even when she was booked full. She recommend another local baker even though she wouldn't get the business.
Worth every penny.
The celeb missed out.
