Is there something wrong with how I look?

GEC44 · 17/07/2023 16:50

Straight to the point - I've discovered a group of colleagues are talking about me behind my back and sending each other cartoon drawings of me, saying that I look like a man, look like a drag queen, and that my nickname is Funny Face.

I've been told by a beautician that I have strong features, and an 'image consultant' that I am 'striking'. Whatever that means.

Any thoughts?

OP posts:
midsomermurderess · 17/07/2023 16:54

Short of you showing people what you look like, it's impossible to say. But then you'll get people saying you look lovely, OP to make you feel better. No one is going to say you look like Grouch Marx. This is horrible behaviour by your colleagues. That needs addressing sharpish.

bonoslefteyebrow · 17/07/2023 16:54

There's something wrong with your colleagues bullying you that's for sure.

I'd be speaking to my manager.

There is nothing wrong in looking any way at all 😡

Munches · 17/07/2023 16:58

That’s terrible and very sad. I suspect you are beautiful both aesthetically and internally and this sadly and unacceptably causes lots of people being unkind to you.
Saying that, even if a person is not attractive on the outside , this is still wholly and completely unacceptable.

The behaviour of that of your colleagues is nothing short of bullying. I am disgusted.

Please do speak to your manager about this. Also, is there anyone in real life you can speak to.

Sending you huge hugs and lots of love xx

SweetAndSourChick3n · 17/07/2023 17:02

My thoughts are that your colleagues are bullies

QueenOfThe20StoneAge · 17/07/2023 17:03

However you look, there's nothing 'wrong' with it. Your colleagues on the other hand are very ugly, certainly on the inside at least. I'm so sorry they've been so nasty about you and I hope you're not letting it bother you too much. Could you face challenging them and asking them to explain themselves? They deserve to be called out on their disgusting behaviour. Am honestly so cross on your behalf.

SnotRag81 · 17/07/2023 17:06

I can only assume you work in a primary school and the “colleagues” you speak of are actually 7 year old kids? Surely?

IHadTheLasagne · 17/07/2023 17:06

How spiteful of your colleagues!

I would complain to HR/Manager.Shocking way for adults to behave.Nasty bullying shits

Moneynewpence · 17/07/2023 17:09

Even if you aren't at all 'good looking' - and, knock it off all the 'op and everyone is really beautiful' brigade, we uglies own mirrors you know - this kind of thing is nasty and unnecessary - raise a complaint

Lentilweaver · 17/07/2023 17:10

Please speak to your manager, raise a complaint and go to HR. What you look like is irrelevant. This is workplace bullying.

Lostinplaces · 17/07/2023 17:11

Do you work with 14 year olds? Bunch of bullying dickheads. They sounds v jealous.

SunLightButMoonlightIsBest · 17/07/2023 17:11

Agree with everyone else, you are being bullied and it’s unacceptable. Don’t turn their words on yourself, otherwise you are doing exactly what they want. Hold your head up high and report their behaviour.

Maddy70 · 17/07/2023 17:12

Wow that's disgusting....
I would report them to your line manager tbh

My daughter has "striking features" She hated it growing up, She is now a successful model. I bet you are also very beautiful and you are making them feel insecure and that's why they are doing this I would definitely call them out on this it's bullying

It sounds as though they are just horrible people

Dominoeffecter · 17/07/2023 17:12

If this is true then wtf, it’s irrelevant really what you look like, this behaviour would be outrageous regardless

Piyo · 17/07/2023 17:12

Work place bullying. Don’t stand for it.

inappropriateraspberry · 17/07/2023 17:13

I would say that the top models are usually striking, with strong features. Who wants to look like everybody else? So many 'personalities' these days are becoming clones of each other - stand out from the crowd and embrace it! I very much doubt you are ugly, just not the 'norm.' Many people with different features still manage to find love, be happy and do well.
I agree that it would be worth bringing it to attention of your manager or HR. Even if you do t want to take it further at this stage, there is a record if things continue or escalate. I'd like to see how your colleagues look - I doubt it's drastically different!

Allywill · 17/07/2023 17:15

Lily Cole was once described as looking like a red headed alien with massive feet. Many models have somewhat unconventional “striking” looks - it’s what makes them stand out from the crowd. You should report your colleagues for their rude and bullying behaviour.

StellaJohanna · 17/07/2023 17:16

OP, you asked "Is there something wrong with how I look?" That is impossible to say as we can't see you. I would be looking for another job. Your workplace sounds nasty.

LuckyPeonies · 17/07/2023 17:17

They are bullies and need to be put in their place. Collect proof and take to mgr/hr.

SnotRag81 · 17/07/2023 17:17

What she looks like is completely irrelevant

StefanosHill · 17/07/2023 17:18

The only thought I have is that’s workplace bullying and I’d take it up with manager or HR

MrsMcisaCt · 17/07/2023 17:20

Please don't let these nasty colleagues get to you. Their behaviour is disgusting. I agree with PPs that it is workplace bullying and you need to report it. Good luck OP.

HermeticDawn · 17/07/2023 17:22

What you look like is irrelevant. This is workplace bullying.

LaughterTitsoff · 17/07/2023 17:25

No-one here has a clue how you look but that's totally beside the point.

The problem is obviously the bullying and you need to report it.

DimeStoreHooker · 17/07/2023 17:46

The main problem here is that your colleagues are so diseased. Straight to HR and hold your head up high.

TeddyFluff · 17/07/2023 17:48

There are cunts everywhere. I’m sorry OP, there is fuck all wrong with you and everything wrong with them.
