Woman showing entire bum in public when bending over - what would you have done?

I was in the queue to pay in clothes shop today, standing behind a woman with her friend, both with babies in prams. It was outrageously hot and so she was wearing a short denim skirt that was pulled up high and a vest top. Obviously nothing wrong with that, however she bent over a few times to get things out of the basket under the pram and in doing do flashed her entire bum and thong. There were also mirrors to the side and behind us, so presumably this was also reflected to the entire shop. It was a proper full moon, not just a bit of bum cheek.

It didn’t seem as though she had noticed and her friend couldn’t see from her angle. I couldn’t help thinking that if I was in that scenario that I’d want to know. However I didn’t say anything because it’s none of my business and I didn’t want to embarrass her. Also maybe she knew and didn’t care 🤷🏻‍♀️

But, what would you have done/wanted someone else to do if you were in that situation? I do live up north in a place where strangers do talk to each other regularly FYI!

YABU - I should have quietly told her that her bum was exposed to the shop

Pointless telling her, as she will already know and possibly wearing such a get up intentionally. It is worlds apart from having a skirt accidently hooked into knickers etc (that has happened to me when standing at the bar in a pub).

I once witnessed a man get a barrage of abuse when he pointed out that someone's ass crack was showing. Said ass crack was not that clean either

When I was in my 20s I often wore short a-line skirts cos they looked lovely from the front. I never saw myself from the back, and I had no idea that I was showing my bum every time I bent over. As soon as I discovered that I stopped wearing such short skirts.
The poor lady probably had no idea about how much flesh she was exposing, and I can’t believe how many pps are suggesting that she was doing it deliberately.

I think if it was a clear wardrobe failure (eg the skirt accidentally hooked up on something) then I’d tell her so she can sort it there and then. But if it’s just the way her outfit looks due to wearing a short item I wouldn’t say anything as I’d assume she is aware and wanted to look like that, or that it’s not something she can easily sort it out. Sometimes ignorance is bliss as she won’t be walking around feeling embarrassed until she can go home and change as she won’t realise what others saw…

If she had a baby in a pram and was juggling everything she probably didn’t even think that she might be flashing her bum. I wouldn’t say anything because I would worry about her reaction. Even smiling in my town gets a ‘what you looking at?’ response though. If I was told I was flashing my bum I would be embarrassed, I would rather the ignorant bliss of not knowing.

Agree. I would probably have asked her where I could buy a thong like hers....(No. Not that brave - but I hope i would have said something as she probably just thought it was a great skirt and didn't realise it was a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen)

Call me old fashioned, but I do believe a woman's skirt should be longer than her vagina

No I wouldn’t say anything why would I? My sister goes out with short dresses and no knickers she knows what shes was doing

first week back at school in September my hubby came home from picking our then 5 year old up and proceeded to tell me how he (and the rest of the parents) had seen his new teachers whole bum! A gust of wind had lifted her just above knee length dress up and she had a thong on 🙈

Anyone who wears a thong knows this risk. She either doesn't care or gets a buzz from it.

It's happened to me a couple of times. I have a really long torso and wide hips, so if I wear something remotely short, it ends up riding up and I flash my arsecheeks by accident. If I dared wear a denim skirt or the like i'd spend my entire day pulling it down to avoid moonies, which, if I was out with the kids trying to sort them out, I wouldn't get chance to pull it down every 10 seconds!

I'd keep my mouth shut and be completely unbothered by it. The only time i'd say something is if there happened to be a sanitary product on show as that's obviously a little more embarrassing and I wouldn't let a woman walk around unaware of it.

For me, it’s more that she knows her skirt is short, so me telling her that her skirt is short isn’t going to do anything to benefit the situation.

She might not realise that her bum is showing, but she might take me approaching her as a critique of the length of her outfit - it’s embarrassing to be approached about.

Everyone has their own personal line of what they think strangers should/should not see of their body anyway - if she’s comfortable with her upper thighs on show, she might not care if her skirt rides up a bit for a few seconds when she temporarily bends to check the child.

I flashed the bin lorry once - I hadn’t realised my trousers had a big rip in the bum until the driver kindly pointed it out !

Exactly the same thing happened with a wedding guest in front of me a few years ago. Woman in a very short dress bent over to attend her child and showed the world her entire backside.

Worse - this was in church. I was verging the wedding!

She was a big lady, too, so there was a very full moon. I just zipped my lip and hoped she wouldn't have to bend over again - or at least not where I would have to see her.

How do you know she did not know? Maybe she wanted to show off her bum/ did not care if anyone sees it? I would never say anything in this situation. Only would let someone know if their flies undone, for example, or some other embarrassing mishap. This is not that kind of situation.

Its not inappropriate or offensive or unhygienic to wear a thong and shirt skirt and I don’t know anyone who would deliberately expose themself whilst in a shop.
