To think it’s already getting too hot…

I am already starting to get hot! I think after a long cold winter of blankets on and no heating, we are all used to much lower temperatures. I know we’ve not even hit the 20’s yet but honest to god, I’m sat at home with a fan on full right on me. No idea how I am going to survive when it gets any hotter. I hate the summer and am just thankful that our ‘warm’ period seems to be reduced this year as sometimes by now we’ve had blaring heat!

Well I’m happy that I have washed two loads and dried them on the line , but I am at the allotment now and I’m going to head home because I think I’m too hot / maybe starting to burn. So that’s a shame as I wanted to read my book in the sun in a chair - as you can tell I’m not one for too much hard work on the allotment 😊

I got burnt at the allotment today. I didn't notice as there was a nice breeze as well as the sunshine! ☀️☀️☀️

We have our third load of washing on the line. It's glorious!

NW coast for people wondering where it's warm! I foresee many pink people in the Eurovision audience tonight. 🤣🤣

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 13/05/2023 17:34

Bring on the temps of 25 and up! I’m praying for a long, scorcio summer - bloody love it and I am so fed up with this grey and wet.

I’m absolutely freezing here in Essex today, was forecast to be warm and sunny but it’s full and freezing. I’m desperate for some warmer weather (not 40 degrees though).

The same from another Essex resident!

*Don't fret, it's just 5 weeks until the longest day and then the nights will start drawing•

Now this makes me happy. Less time to endure the dreaded heatwaves like last year

I think you need to see a doctor and get your vitals checked. A healthy person shouldn’t be burning up in 14C.

I actually did this after decades of struggling and they just shrugged, could not care less. I've eventually lumped it under autism and sensory processing disorder. 🤷‍♀️

I agree OP, it's an uncomfortable and unpleasant time for me. Still, hopefully other people enjoy it. It won't be too long until autumn rolls around again either. Remember that year when the 30 degree weather started in April?!

Will OP spend more on aircon this summer after (presumably) saving money all winter by not having heating on?

I know you're being a bit jokey here but really, this is what I really do. Barely have heating on in winter and get through with a portable air conditioner in summer. I highly recommend!

Ditto! I am sick to death of this weather, it is dire and I am in the south. I haven't barbecued yet, I haven't sat out yet, I haven't been hot or even warm. I'm sat with a sweatshirt on even now and the sun is out! It's only 16 here and that's pathetic. I want to wear strappy tops and shorts, not sweatshirts and trackie bottoms.

I hope to goodness it gets better because otherwise it's going to be a very very short summer arghhhhh

CheeseLouisePlease · 13/05/2023 17:45

14 degrees in the NE (it’s lovely) but it was 9 degrees and raining yesterday.
not exactly a heatwave

Soproudoflionesses · 13/05/2023 17:45

South east and just put the heating on

Same here. I can't wait for some warmth.

WildFlowerBees · 13/05/2023 17:54

If it could stay no hotter than 21 through to Jan I'd be very happy. Last summer was a bloody nightmare for me.

justasking111 · 13/05/2023 17:54

@JolanDolan1 how is your health generally. Any issues with thyroid, weight, menopause?

fryanddry · 13/05/2023 17:55

i hate hot weather in london its like being inside an oven, not nice at all..

justasking111 · 13/05/2023 17:58

To be fair where you live makes a difference heat wise. I'm on the Welsh coast so windy, in a house not an apartment block. Lots of trees and greenery .

TragicMuse · 13/05/2023 18:01

Hooray for you. It's 12 degrees where I am and I'm fucking freezing.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 13/05/2023 18:11

It’s 12 degrees here, I’m fucking baltic and fed up that already people are moaning about the heat. You get 9-10 months per year of vile miserable weather where you can wrap up warm, pleeeeeeaaaaassse let me enjoy any warmth that might come my way.

Walkley18 · 13/05/2023 18:14

North west beach area here, 20 degrees but feels much hotter. I have sun cream on and my chest is starting to burn.

TheLostNights · 13/05/2023 18:16

London has been chilly.
I don't mind low twenties weather but any hotter and I hate it. Spring is odd this year. So much rain but temperatures have been about average for the time of year. It's the excessive rain which makes it feel more winter like.

Rollonannualeave · 13/05/2023 18:18

It's been perfect where i am. Dried washing on line and 2 hrs at the allotment. Perfect day for sitting out.

Whatafustercluck · 13/05/2023 18:21

We're in the east. Cloudy all day and a cold northerly wind. The heating is on. It's the first time I've been warm all day (at an outside event, and then a pub). Torrential rain the other day, too. Summer seems a long way away!

I know, I want it hot, hot, hot!

sleepsforwimps1 · 13/05/2023 18:34

I'm Yorkshire and it's freezing! Few chimneys going round here today..... refuse to make mine mucky again so got two jumpers on and waiting it out 😂

TheChosenTwo · 13/05/2023 18:41

We had a fire one night this week and a couple last week! I do agree with a pp in that the temperatures (here at least) haven’t been especially low this whole time it’s the relentless rainfall that is making it feel bleaker. Endless grim grey depressing skies. It’s so dull. I adore the sunshine and heat.

kethuphouse · 13/05/2023 18:41

It's cold and miserable in London today. Where do you live that you need a fan today ?

kitsuneghost · 13/05/2023 18:43

Not so warm today or yesterday but Wed and Thu I was sweltered

Newestname002 · 13/05/2023 18:44

I thought it was chilly enough last night to put on several layers of fleece back on plus thick fleecy socks under my duvet... 🌹
