To think it’s already getting too hot…

I am already starting to get hot! I think after a long cold winter of blankets on and no heating, we are all used to much lower temperatures. I know we’ve not even hit the 20’s yet but honest to god, I’m sat at home with a fan on full right on me. No idea how I am going to survive when it gets any hotter. I hate the summer and am just thankful that our ‘warm’ period seems to be reduced this year as sometimes by now we’ve had blaring heat!

Glorious here in the NW of England. I've done 8 loads of washing and it's all dried so quickly. Sat in the garden right now with a glass of wine 🌞🥂

Skybluepinky · 13/05/2023 16:55

Are u ill or having a hot flush?

TeenLifeMum · 13/05/2023 16:55

I’m sat in the garden with cheese on toast in my summer dress. Had my cardi on earlier but it’s 19.8 in my house and feels warmer outside.

GrannieD · 13/05/2023 16:56

Cracking flags here in Manchester! Its grim oop North .........

Violinist64 · 13/05/2023 17:00

East Anglia here and the sun has only just decided to make an appearance. It’s been very cold and windy but at least the washing has dried. I am sitting with a hot water bottle at the moment as I don’t want to put the heating on.

Franticbutterfly · 13/05/2023 17:05

Boiling in my garden in Derbyshire today and I'm loving it! I always feel happier in the sunshine.

CreeperBoom · 13/05/2023 17:10

14c in my living room, 11 outside. My heating is going to click on soon.

33goingon64 · 13/05/2023 17:13

It's barely reached 13 degrees here (SE England). Got my thick yak wool jumper on, having put it away for the summer months!

Lcb123 · 13/05/2023 17:15

It’s freezing and grey on London! Cannot wait for warm weather

70sTomboy · 13/05/2023 17:17

According to BBC weather its 17 here, feels much warmer. I'm sat in the garden, it's beautiful 😍

x2boys · 13/05/2023 17:18

I'm in the northwest and the weather is really quite pleasant ,t shirt weather but it's by no means to hot.

FourTeaFallOut · 13/05/2023 17:22

It got to a balmy 17c here and I thought, sod it - let's go the the beach, 20min drive away. 12c at the beach - fucking freezing. Have you considered the N.E. coast, op?

Sererus · 13/05/2023 17:23

It's hot here in the East Midlands, I quite like it. I'm the first to dread the very hot weather, I don't like it at all, but this is quite pleasant. I've cut the grass and dried 2 loads of washing, I'm enjoying the nicer weather!

Crabwoman · 13/05/2023 17:24

It's 17⁰ here. I'm sat outside in a t-shirt
It's pleasant. Not warm, not hot. Need a jacket when the sun goes in..

I'm more depressed that's it's mid May and this is the first ok day we seem to have had this year.

lljkk · 13/05/2023 17:24

Wood burner back burning all day yesterday & this afternoon. Rural Norfolk.
I'm in leggings, 4 prs of socks, 4 shirts on top, plus wrist warmers & 2 neckbuffs. The cat is firmly occupying front-of-burner carpet spot. I cycled 16 ? miles & walked 2 miles today, too.

Teen DS is in short sleeve T shirt & shorts. He did say the lounge (where burner is) is nice temp.

lljkk · 13/05/2023 17:25

Will OP spend more on aircon this summer after (presumably) saving money all winter by not having heating on?

Sosbanfachtheresatellyinmybath · 13/05/2023 17:25

I'm in South Wales and I've burnt my slap head, even with factor 50 on 😬

ghostyslovesheets · 13/05/2023 17:26

Fairyliz · 13/05/2023 15:59

I am so jealous, bloody freezing here (Midlands).
My central heating came on this morning even though the thermostat is set at 16 degrees and it’s not been above 13 outside all day.

I'm in Tamworth - 19 and sunny! - Tidied up the garden, treated the lawn, planted some new plants, cleaned the garden furniture, put all the cushions out and sat and had a nice glass of wine in the sun when I'd finished!

Peachy2005 · 13/05/2023 17:26

Can depend on your house too! We’re in a rented house with a conservatory and any bit of sunshine and it’s oppressively warm. I end up suffering with the extreme heat but other people aren’t having the same experience. It’s usually pleasant for a short spell in May though...and it’s great for drying clothes!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 13/05/2023 17:27

Our heating kicked in yesterday.

Jourdain11 · 13/05/2023 17:27

Boiling? 🤭

Laura23FE · 13/05/2023 17:30

In north wales at our chalet in abersoch and we have got sunburnt today despite having factor 30 on all day .. scorching, loved it and definitely NOT complaining 😂😂😂

beeskipa · 13/05/2023 17:31

It's pretty warm here in the NW. Dried 2 loads of washing today.

I hate the heat though, dreading summer already. Anything above about 18 makes me miserable.

DreamTheMoors · 13/05/2023 17:32

Forecast says it’s going to be 37+C tomorrow where I live in California. 36 today.
The lovely weather is over for us and the searing, boiling heat is here.
Ugh. We won’t see cooler temperatures until next October.

Twillow · 13/05/2023 17:32

I aree actually - although we've had some cold days, when it has been warm I've been feeling it more than usual - and I'm generally a chilly person! I think you make a good point about acclimatisation due to keeping heat low all winter - we've hardly had it on and mainly used heated throws.
