I feel like Mumsnet can be a bit toxic sometimes and I feel a bit uncomfortable posting anything.

People can be very judgmental in here.

@ReneBumsWombats but I just don't see any correlation between some of those things

So you post saying you doubt period blood on roses will help their growth in your opinion. And someone retorts 'well you've got a fat arse?!'

Goodread1 · 05/03/2023 21:48

I have experienced a mix of both on mumsnet ,the good sound advice and advice turned into something else misunderstanding and tuned south pretty quickly,
It was like a bit of pitches , from a couple of folks,
I think there are certain people get off on creating drama as such,
Who clearly misunderstood what i said,
Such as I was called stupid my first post I sent in,
Another post It was implied I must be male I was born female and allways will be,

I also experienced with one mumsnetter misquoting me deliberately an trying to get another mumsnetter on board so she could shore up her opinion,

Aren't people charming

@ReneBumsWombats oh wow 😯 that's a lot of abuse

To be fair, it's not all been under this name and it's over the course of several years.

I suppose another reason it doesn't bother me unduly (although I do report it, because it's not ok) is that I've had way worse on male dominated forums, up to and including death and rape threats.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/03/2023 21:50

Once, I said that I doubted that pouring your menstrual blood over your garden would have any significant effect on the plants. I was told I had a fat arse.

TBF @ReneBumsWombats wombats do have fat arses.

EmpressOfTheSofa · 05/03/2023 21:51

I find it hilarious.

I’ve been here forever and a day and have made some wonderful friends and had some amazing life changing advice.

I’m also a bit of a glutton for posting in AIBU with stuff that clearly riles the masses. Not in a goady way; but fuck me I do tend to attract a pile on. I remember posting years back about being smug about something. That thread grew legs.

People on the internet are INSANE.

Bonjovispjs · 05/03/2023 21:51

I do sometimes wonder if someone who has written something really nasty to another poster ever wonder what effect those words might have on that person, but I'm guessing not.

I think it was something like "well if you don't agree with it, move your fat arse out of the discussion".

I can't. It won't fit through the greenhouse door.

Oh, and the other day someone said I was such a terrible person that she couldn't believe I really did have children.

But do you bum wombats and, if so, do you enjoy it?

Don't they produce square droppings too?
Or is that beavers?

It was under another username. Other than that, I take your point.

Wombats poop cubes so they don't roll away.

JMSA · 05/03/2023 21:53

I've posted on AIBU today and people were wonderfully supportive. It really does just depend.

JennyDarlingRIP · 05/03/2023 21:54

I just can't get too bothered by vitriol from internet strangers, definitely wouldn't be scared of it. Most are probably sat on their own in cat fur covered slankets, rather than the six figure earning glamorous high fliers , with immaculate homes and children they pretend to be. Either way who gives a shit, they don't know me

What's wrong with a nice slanket? Shock

YANBU
The other week I posted innocently about getting into my pjs early and got a whole diatribe about how I was "fucking lazy" and I should "own it" 🤣

But post that you WFH and your employer would like you to come into the office for 1/2 day once every 3 weeks and you'll get loads of "How DARE they, you need to prioritize your MH, I'd file a complaint/quit/are they bloody Americans!"

Next time say you went into the office in your jammies and sit back and enjoy the support😂😂

GHxx · 05/03/2023 21:58

It’s so strange, I’ve been on here for years on due date threads and groups of people going through similar things to me.. everyone on there is always so lovely and supportive.. but if you come out of any of these nice groups and go out into the big bad world of mumsnet people are so overly harsh about absolutely nothing at times. It’s like people are coming on here with some sort of pent up anger they just want to take out on random strangers 🤔 can be such a hit or miss

Iwantmyoldnameback · 05/03/2023 21:59

I think menstrual blood might be good for plants, during home births the placenta was buried and that certainly was.
I know that's missing the point of the thread.
