What the bloody hell just happened?

I'm trying not to freak out.

In bed reading mumsnet as you do and all of a sudden I hear this almighty bang on my bedroom door which is ajar. It's one of those crap ones with a frame and perspex in.

Thinking something must have fallen, I got up to investigate. I turn the torch on on my phone as the bedside table lamp barely gives off any light. When I reached the door my phone went weird, the torch went off and a qr code came up on my screen as if trying to scan. I tried getting it off and it closed to reveal the screensaver I have of my daughter. All the icons had vanished and the phone was frozen except for the screenshot which was blurred and looked almost ghostly.

I put the light on and check around. Nothing apart from a coat hanger on the floor which could have already been there as it was behind the door.

Couldn't do anything with my phone until all of a sudden it restarted and now appears to be working fine!

Tear in the space time continuum

PenguinsandHippos · 03/03/2023 00:09

You’ve probably just touched something on the touch screen without realising it while you were flustered. You’ll be ok.

Dibbydoos · 03/03/2023 00:21

😱 I'd be pooing myself...

ComeTheFckOnBridget · 03/03/2023 00:23

I'll be listening to this on Uncanny in a few weeks then!

Tell whatever it is to leave you alone

7eleven · 03/03/2023 00:26

something will have fallen somewhere and you just haven’t worked it out somehow.

you possibly opened your camera accidentally, whilst putting your torch on

perhaps out some proper lights on and check your doors and windows are secure, for peace of mind.

SunShineAllMine · 03/03/2023 00:27

Do you live near a main road? A heavy lorry knocked something that had been placed precariously?

In a panic you knocked your phone settings?

scorpiogirly · 03/03/2023 00:37

Thanks all. My heart is still pounding a bit.

Whatever hit it made a racket.

I did think leave me alone in my head. I was too scared to say it.

I've had things happen here before. I'm sure I have posted it all before here.

My daughter and I are sharing a room at the moment as I am decorating hers. She came downstairs from bed last night and told me that there was knocking coming from the wardrobe. I brushed it off to her but I heard knocks from the wardrobe when I was a kid too and it's the same room.

Have always thought this house had something in it as had lots of experiences as did my mother who lived here before she passed and left it to me. I've always been okay with it though thinking that whatever it is can't be bad otherwise I'd have had much worse by now.

That's one hell of a drip feed OP!!

Hope you are ok, how old is your DD? Is she with you now?

ToLongToCharge · 03/03/2023 00:43

Tell it, You hope it finds peace and you wish it well but please leave this house , please leave us alone

Goawayangryman · 03/03/2023 00:43

Is the perspex in the door still in one piece and in the correct place? Cracking perspex or glass especially if load bearing can make an almighty bang.

ComeTheFckOnBridget · 03/03/2023 00:44

Oh well, knocking on wardrobes door is a bob dylan boggart

scorpiogirly · 03/03/2023 00:45

So sorry I didn't mean to drip feed. I was in that much of a panic I didn't even think of the knocking until after I had posted.

Yeah she is with me and asleep. Nothing since.

The perspex is fine and held in place by beading.

Could it be the monkey that lives in your wardrobe?

Christ alive, why did I read this whilst alone downstairs with my baby. Currently not daring to look at my slightly ajar door

There was a sudden solar weather surge hit Earth at around midnight, we have been warned of possible effects on technology, like freezing, crashing and even burning out. Also geomagnetic events sometimes correlate with shallow tremors and quakes, which can easily wake people up with thumping/rattling doors, bedsteads etc.

Perhaps you had your own localized equivalent of the Carrington Event. Hey maybe it affected lots of people who slept through it.

A nice sensible reply, I can go to bed now, was working up courage to climb the dark stairs, (bulb has blown)👻

EpicChaos · 03/03/2023 01:08

Glitch in the matrix, obviously! Either that, or it's the monster in your wardrobe, waiting for you to go to sleep so it can come out of hiding.

CuppaWhiteTea · 03/03/2023 01:13

Gah! Shouldn’t have clicked on this. I was just contemplating getting out of bed and walking to the bathroom for a wee. Can’t put light on or will wake dog up. Too frightened to go out there in the dark now. Have to hold it till dawn …

🤣I'd take comfort from having a dog...
If he or she is slumbering peacefully, no need to fear.
As a child, I was so sacred once I did a wee in a jam jar {Used for paint water} ..because the long dark hallway leading to the loo was so scary.

The hallway went past some stairs to the Attic that were really freaky.

As a teenager, I was alone in the house, and heard the attic door rattling.
I shouted ''Who'se there!!!''

No reply.
Rattle came again.

I grabbed my tennis racket, and went to investigate, snapping on the light to the attic.
Under the door I could see two feet.

The Cat's.

I almost fainted with relief.

Your clothes hangers are possessed. They've been knocking around in the wardrobe trying to get out. Now one has made a run for it and got as far as the bedroom door. Get new hangers or just have a word with them and tell them they belong in the wardrobe.
