What the bloody hell just happened?

I'm trying not to freak out.

In bed reading mumsnet as you do and all of a sudden I hear this almighty bang on my bedroom door which is ajar. It's one of those crap ones with a frame and perspex in.

Thinking something must have fallen, I got up to investigate. I turn the torch on on my phone as the bedside table lamp barely gives off any light. When I reached the door my phone went weird, the torch went off and a qr code came up on my screen as if trying to scan. I tried getting it off and it closed to reveal the screensaver I have of my daughter. All the icons had vanished and the phone was frozen except for the screenshot which was blurred and looked almost ghostly.

I put the light on and check around. Nothing apart from a coat hanger on the floor which could have already been there as it was behind the door.

Couldn't do anything with my phone until all of a sudden it restarted and now appears to be working fine!

Some years ago I woke to the sound of an almighty crash that sounded as if it came from the children’s bedroom. I charged through, expecting the ceiling to have collapsed, to find two year old and baby both asleep in their cots and everything looking totally normal. I crept downstairs, checked doors, windows etc. nothing disturbed. I was too scared to look outside and hardly slept all night scared that someone was in the loft. It wasn’t until I went to the bathroom in the morning that I discovered the metal shower curtain rail had come down and landed in the bath.

Its usually the most simple explanation. Hope you and your poltergeist sleep well 😴

You need to burn your house down and move. I wouldn’t be sleeping there tonight no chance

They’d have a bloody heart attack. I never hoover

The spinny bit on the front of my Dyson broke about 6 months ago. The suckyness still works but hoovering (dysoning?) is nowhere near as satisfying now because it doesn't ruff (rough?) the carpet up the same. So I've stopped bothering a bit. I suppose I should. But, meh.

Anybody remember the sonic boom about 7 years ago?

I thought my ceiling had fallen down! I very delicately tiptoed around the house... Then spent a few hours of wtf... Until saw it on the news. Most of England heard it.

How come you don't hear it every time they scramble fighter jets?

Mysteries eh?

My phone did something like this for the first time this week. It was just as I opened it to try and order an Uber as it was too late to be walking home from the tube and a Friday night. It froze on the Uber app but was still playing music and Siri would work. But even the manual off button wouldn’t work?! It just unfroze after 20 minutes 🤷🏻‍♀️. So I had to walk home. Maybe iPhone glitch??

JackiePlace · 03/03/2023 06:52

@scorpiogirly Why don't you invite a paranormal group to come and investigate your house? They'd love it and you might get some answers!
Google "[Your location] paranormal society" and something will come up.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 03/03/2023 07:01

Your poltergeist disapproves of screens in the bedroom, and tbh sleep experts would agree.

BourbonBon · 03/03/2023 07:03

Ghost, possibly demonic. You need to get a ouija board and ask it what it wants

Shlomping1234 · 03/03/2023 07:11

I've been having weird experiences since being in my home a year. From banging to feeling like someone is watching me. My dog also wanders around crying at nothing.

The other night after putting my dd to bed I went outside for a fag. I heard her voice as clear as day behind the door. I dropped the fag and called to her saying its OK mammys coming. She was flat out in bed when I went upstairs. I'm the only one in my street with a small child and no.one was walking down the street. It really freaked me out so I checked my ring doorbell and the voice played on there. I can't make out what it says but it really spooked me as it sounds so close.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 03/03/2023 07:20

Holding your finger on the camera screen probably activated the scanning for qr codes which sent the phone into overdrive.

Total non event.

KimberleyClark · 03/03/2023 07:21

My daughter and I are sharing a room at the moment as I am decorating hers. She came downstairs from bed last night and told me that there was knocking coming from the wardrobe. I brushed it off to her but I heard knocks from the wardrobe when I was a kid too and it's the same room.

Is your house detached? Could the knocking have been coming from next door or outside?

Redebs · 03/03/2023 07:24

I hope you don't pass your superstitions on to your daughter.

I'm glad I didn't read that last night.

Climbles · 03/03/2023 07:41

The noise came from somewhere else but you miss heard the direction then your phone glitched.

Jooliusreezer · 03/03/2023 07:42

Do people actually believe in ghosts and ghouls and poltergeists?

piedbeauty · 03/03/2023 07:44

If you were a ghost in a wardrobe, you'd be pretty fed up if you'd been knocking for decades and nobody came to help... 👻

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/03/2023 07:44

I know what it is.

It's the collective ghost of smartphones old and discarded that live in the ether and have come to haunt you for upgrading to the latest models while they languish unwanted and unloved.
