Disclaimer - not a real AIBU I couldn’t find another topic where you can vote

I’ve recently turned 30 and been TTC for a while (not happened yet :D) and it seems like every single person I know from school or in my age range had children ages ago (friends with children 10+ for example). All of my close friends have children - albeit younger - but I’m starting to think that I’m in the minority and I’ll be an older mum at the school gates, if and when it happens.

So.. I wanted to get a gauge outside of the small world that is my friends and Facebook, how many of you had your first child before 30??

YABU - I had my first child at 30+
YANBU - I had my first child younger than 30

Ps no judgment or one ups - neither is better or worse, I’m just curious to see the %
Pps I’m a semi regular poster - name changed as I picked a rubbish one before and was sick of it 😂

29 and 31. Didn't think I was young to have kids but we moved to a very 'naice' place in the SE when kids were 6 months and 2 and at the school gates for my eldest in reception I was definitely one of the younger mums, sometimes by over a decade Confused

30

Secretly pregnant now with my second at 38.

Ohitshappening · 03/03/2023 08:30

Only secretly because I'm about 11 weeks and we're waiting to tell dd first after the scan.

Then we'll tell and maybe it'll sink in for me! 🤔😅

I had my first at 27, expecting second in the next couple of weeks and I’m 32.

Most of the Mums who have children in DD’s year are actually 30+ (which is nice), and there are about 3 other Mums who have had their second at 35+. I think there’s actually only 2 Mums who are under the age of 30, and even they are closer to their 30’s than they are their 20’s.

Basically, you have nothing to worry about age-wise!

And good luck x

I was among the younger mums at 30 and 32. DH was definitely the youngest Dad. It does vary by area I think.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 03/03/2023 10:47

DH is the same age as me.
