Disclaimer - not a real AIBU I couldn’t find another topic where you can vote

I’ve recently turned 30 and been TTC for a while (not happened yet :D) and it seems like every single person I know from school or in my age range had children ages ago (friends with children 10+ for example). All of my close friends have children - albeit younger - but I’m starting to think that I’m in the minority and I’ll be an older mum at the school gates, if and when it happens.

So.. I wanted to get a gauge outside of the small world that is my friends and Facebook, how many of you had your first child before 30??

YABU - I had my first child at 30+
YANBU - I had my first child younger than 30

Ps no judgment or one ups - neither is better or worse, I’m just curious to see the %
Pps I’m a semi regular poster - name changed as I picked a rubbish one before and was sick of it 😂

I’ve just turned 30, and I’m due this year with my fifth. Pretty average in my friend group.

theleavesfall · 01/03/2023 23:50

First at 39.
TTC second at 44!! May have left that too late but hey!!

NoraLuka · 01/03/2023 23:50

23 and 24, was about 10 years younger than most of the other school mums. DD1 is nearly 17 now.

zen1 · 01/03/2023 23:52

A couple of months after I turned 31. In my post-natal group (20 odd yrs ago), the age range was 25-34.

Familyiness · 01/03/2023 23:52

Had my first at 21, last one at 29. My last is now 17 and I am now 45, coming up 46.
I really wouldn't worry you have time!!

FuckeNell · 01/03/2023 23:53

24 and 30

watcherintherye · 01/03/2023 23:55

35,38,45! Good luck op!

theleavesfall · 01/03/2023 23:57

@watcherintherye you give me hope at 45!
Did you take any pre vitamins changed anything?
44 TTC 2 , for 7 months now.

threeplusmum · 01/03/2023 23:57

27 going on 28 with the first, 30 with the second & I will be 32 with the baby I'm pregnant with currently.

morekidsthanhands · 01/03/2023 23:57

I can't vote on the app but had my first at 25. Personally I felt super young and was one of the first from any school friends I kept up with. I have a lot of respect for those who had children in their teens - I struggled at 25, ten years earlier would have been tough.

Rainbows121 · 01/03/2023 23:58

39, and ttc 2nd at 43

MammaPee · 01/03/2023 23:58

35 one month off 36 and then one month past 39.

IWineAndDontDine · 02/03/2023 00:03

24 (now 27) but all my mum friends with kids the same age are in their mid 30s. I have one friend who is a couple of years younger than me, that's the only one under 30

Ozcando · 02/03/2023 00:07

30 , 32 and 38 ….there is a reason why women should have babies earlier…it’s energy and recovery! Cannot imagine having a baby in my 40s unless it is a surprise baby !

SouperNoodle · 02/03/2023 00:08

I'm in 2 mum groups and I'm the only one in both that had children before I was thirty.
I think it's a lot more common now than it ever was for women to have children later.

TheGoogleMum · 02/03/2023 00:09

I had my 30th birthday while pregnant so not sure which to pick!

current status is that I am being unreasonable at 65% - very interesting!

also loving the school gates comments, I’ve heard it can be a tough crowd no matter your age 😂

Thanks for all those wishing luck on my TTC journey as well, can tell you’re all fab mums no matter what your age is 🤗

School gate contribution from here is twofold - I was older than some of the grandparents on primary pickups. They were all lovely though 😀. When the head took early retirement my son was in Yr5 when we met up for the celebration assembly. On the way back home he told me the head was younger than me. A supportive parent walking along with us said I was “working it with a much younger vibe” ie I wasn’t still wearing my 80s clothes like the retiring head.

Eldest at 16, youngest at 33. Pregnant now and I'll be 35 when baby is born.

Good luck ttc x

Pubesofsoberness · 02/03/2023 00:16

16 with my first

Yahyahs22 · 02/03/2023 00:22

First at 27, second at 30. Best decision I made waiting. I was ready then and now I'm better equipt and don't feel the need to go partying as I've been there, done that. Everyone's different, that's just my how my life went

funinthesun19 · 02/03/2023 00:22

I was 21 when I had my first baby. Then 23, 25 and 28.

sciencedoesntlie · 02/03/2023 00:23

28 and 30

hunyouok · 02/03/2023 00:24

Has my first at 30 second at 34.
Even at those ages I feel quite old at the school gates for my eldest. All of my new school mum friends are younger than me which I never expected. But all of my friends bar 1 had their children after 30. It's a weird one but I think after 30 personally is ideal. But personal preference. And also I'm almost 7 years older than some of my new school mum friends. I don't mind it and you can't tell anyway.

Aquamarine1029 · 02/03/2023 00:27

Married at 23. My husband and I planned to have our first 6-7 years later, when I would have been 30ish. Well, got pregnant two months after we got married, baby born 2 weeks before our first anniversary when I was 24. After our little surprise, I thought we'd go back to our original plan for the second, have another 6 or seven years down the line. When our first was 15 months, I realised I would not want to go back to baby land in six or seven years, so decided to try for baby #2. Got pregnant immediately and had them when I was 26.

OzziePopPop · 02/03/2023 00:35

I had mine at 28 and 32
