To think the new British Airways uniform (announced today) is awful?

The options are either a jumpsuit all in one or what is basically a suit and skirt. The males are fine with their suit but us the girls have been screwed over. Myself and pretty much every other crew member I know think it’s awful, we’ve been told if we don’t agree to wear it then our contracts will be terminated. Nothing feminine about it. Your fine wearing the suit if your a man but us females will look so manly it’s terrible!

It was designed by a man too

Aw I used to be BA crew! To be honest I quite like the new uniform.

Wouldn't like to see what the jumpsuits look like at the end of a longhaul flight though 😂

Notimeforaname · 06/01/2023 16:15

Theres a dress and a skirt on there. How is that manly? Are you looking for flower designs or something ?

ILoveeCakes · 06/01/2023 16:16

A lot of people are struggling to eat right now, so won't be going on any flight for a while, let alone a BA one. If they were so lucky, I think the last think they would be worried about are the subtle details of their uniforms. They'd probably be happy whatever they were wearing.

Waterandair · 06/01/2023 16:16

The current uniform is fine but this new one looks god awful

I think the white shirt and skirt combo is awful though!

Purpleavocado · 06/01/2023 16:18

Did they not ask the staff for feedback? I have been involved with uniform launches from a supply chain perspective, and they went to a forum which had team member on it. The supplier had samples, photo mockups etc, and the team members had a lot of input into it.
The skirt is like a uniform I had in the late 80's, it's awful!

ShirleyPhallus · 06/01/2023 16:18

The skirts make you look like you’ve had some sort of ghastly period leakage with that red bit down the front

The jumpsuit has inexplicably been cut to make it look like the lady has a large gut. Very odd.

PacificallyRequested · 06/01/2023 16:18

I think it looks nice and (apart from the skirt) quite comfortable and practical. Why does your work uniform need to "feminine"?

BabyHettie · 06/01/2023 16:18

That red bit on the skirt!

stewielouie · 06/01/2023 16:18

Would not fancy dealing with a jumpsuit in a plane loo!

Cranarc · 06/01/2023 16:18

I think the dress looks OK. The rest look grim.

Chersfrozenface · 06/01/2023 16:19

So no jacket and trousers for women? The only trouser option is a jumpsuit?

Aren't jumpsuits an absolute nightmare for women when going to the toilet?

That’s what I thought.

MarancoBelly · 06/01/2023 16:19

They look quite nice to me.
Were you hoping for a women's trouser suit option?

I'm in a different area of work but have been wearing various versions of an awful ill-fitting uniform for over 20 years. It's always horrible at first but you get used to it. There are far worse things to worry about in life.

Sallytobleroney · 06/01/2023 16:20

I don't like it. Surely that scarf is impractical as it'll hang down/ someone might grab it. The men's uniform is FAR nicer and looks quite classy. When I saw the jumpsuits I thought what a hassle and time consuming when you need to do a wee!

luxxlisbon · 06/01/2023 16:20

I think it looks fine. The inclusion of something other than a dress or a skirt is a big positive for me. Feminine doesn’t only mean dresses.

schoolworries22 · 06/01/2023 16:20

What would you have preferred if you'd been consulted?

Beees · 06/01/2023 16:21

Why can't the uniform be trousers for both men and women? It 2023 ffs most of the population wear trousers not just men.

I also don't think a jumpsuit is very practical choice of clothing for someone who will be using a plane toilet. Hmm

RedBudTree · 06/01/2023 16:22

Is there no option for just trousers? So there's the skirt/jacket/blouse combo or the jumpsuit....?

SirenSays · 06/01/2023 16:23

Oh dear I don't think it looks nice, comfortable or practical

KnittedCardi · 06/01/2023 16:24

Ground crew might like it though. I like it, and the dress too. The suit, not so much, and get rid of those ridiculous tie things, no-one wears ties anymore, completely impractical.

Mushroo · 06/01/2023 16:24

It’s ridiculous there’s no female option for trousers that isn’t the jumpsuit. How do you wee in a plane toilet wearing a jumpsuit?!

edwinbear · 06/01/2023 16:24

How on earth are you meant to go to the loo, in a tiny plane cubicle, with a jumpsuit on?! That's not been thought through at all.
