To think the new British Airways uniform (announced today) is awful?

The options are either a jumpsuit all in one or what is basically a suit and skirt. The males are fine with their suit but us the girls have been screwed over. Myself and pretty much every other crew member I know think it’s awful, we’ve been told if we don’t agree to wear it then our contracts will be terminated. Nothing feminine about it. Your fine wearing the suit if your a man but us females will look so manly it’s terrible!

YABU to say it's not feminine. Did you want pink chiffon? It's a corporate uniform. I quite like the jumpsuit but for me personally I think I bet it won't fit right. Jumpsuits (like jeans) need to be cut right for you. Is there a blouse and trousers option?
Seriously, what was you hoping for?

Tutu please. Needs extra lace and frills. Also in pink.

I agree. It's HIDEOUS!!!

Bring back the Julien MacDonald skirt suit. It was much nicer and smarter.

Gives me 80s bus conductor vibes with the white shirt. Im sorry op its awful, but I wear scrubs all day so it possibly is more flattering than my uniform.

It's about time BA scrapped this hideous uniform. It really is a HUGE downgrade from the former uniform, the JM, which was so much nicer and smarter. I don't understand why management saw fit to change the uniform at all, especially to such a cheap-looking one as this mess. Like most people, I am FED UP seeing photos of this drab uniform all over the Internet. By contrast, it was always nice to see photos of the Julien MacDonald uniform.

Zombie thread. But.

I've just flown with BA on holiday and the new uniforms really are hideous. Cheap fabric, poorly fitting, see through blouses and so much creasing. Travelling used to be a real treat but the cabin crew were moody and scruffy - like a bunch of 15 year olds on work experience.

By contrast, the easyJet crew, who I last remember in cheap and cheerful orange shirts looked really smart and cheery.

The red on the skirt is awful

But you were complaining it was manly, not the wrong colour. How is a skirt with acres insert manly?

And yet on my recent BA flight they looked smart (far better than the promotional photos!) and were pleasant, cheerful and polite 🤷🏻‍♀️

No one was wearing a jumpsuit though! 😂

A uniform is for work purposes and represents the company. It’s not supposed to express your personal style, femininity, masculinity or anything else. Wear it or don’t work there.

No jumpsuits on our flight either. Which is just as well, as they look like they should be accessorised with a handy parachute.

The men's waistcoats definitely hadn't worn well. They were all twisty and pulled - like the lining and the main fabric had shrunk to different sizes in the wash.

Maybe my first encounter put me in a bad mood. I used to be a very frequent flyer, but haven't been on a plane since the pandemic and hadn't realised that you now have to weigh and tag your own bag. I joined a queue behind a few other families. When I reached the front the desk was (wo)manned by a member of ground crew who greeted me with "what's wrong with you? Can't you use a computer?"

It was 5am. I'm was barely awake and didn't realise I was joining a queue of people waiting for assistance. I shuffled off and joined a different unmanned queue. Maybe she wasn't a morning person either, but she was outrageously rude. Perhaps her uniform was uncomfortable?

yuck!

Guavafish1 · 21/08/2024 17:49

Don’t like the red but everything else is fine

Makingchocolatecake · 21/08/2024 18:29

I like the jumpsuit and all in one skirt, remind me of 1940s war singer ladies :)

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/08/2024 18:52

But was the pilot wearing the awful culottes? Grin
