To think the new British Airways uniform (announced today) is awful?

The options are either a jumpsuit all in one or what is basically a suit and skirt. The males are fine with their suit but us the girls have been screwed over. Myself and pretty much every other crew member I know think it’s awful, we’ve been told if we don’t agree to wear it then our contracts will be terminated. Nothing feminine about it. Your fine wearing the suit if your a man but us females will look so manly it’s terrible!

YABU to say it's not feminine. Did you want pink chiffon? It's a corporate uniform. I quite like the jumpsuit but for me personally I think I bet it won't fit right. Jumpsuits (like jeans) need to be cut right for you. Is there a blouse and trousers option?

I dont think you're being unreasonable OP. None of the variations are particularly appealing. It could be a great deal better without the manly collar (and the scarf being worn as a tie), red kick pleat (unfortunate choice of color in that position) and general dullness of it all. I'm guessing the jumpsuit won't be approved for cabin crew. I would expect something more eyecatching and pleasing for a travel industry uniform. I wouldn't feel good wearing this uniform in this particular role.

I think they don’t actually want women crew to wear trousers, but can’t explicitly ban them, so have given the most unwieldy option.

How are the trousers unwieldy? They look fine to me.

My first thought was that you’re being too picky.
However, upon closer inspection, I agree with you. Not many women look good in a tie tbh and I think schools schools do away with ties for girls. And a jumpsuit? How impractical is that? I thought it was a jacket and trousers at first.

The skirts have pockets! So that’s good.

Ally Capellino is a woman.. Now that I didn’t know. Well in that case she should have known better than to design something so cumbersome for small girls to wrestle in and out of.

Actually there certainly are trouser options for female crew .
The collection consists of a dress ,trousers ,skirt and jumpsuit .
we were requested to select either dress and skirt plus blouses or trouser skirt blouses ,or jumpsuit and dress etc .

The jumpsuit is not compulsory .
Myself and Jumpsuit loving colleagues had trialled long haul flights wearing them ..we all utilised the bathroom and bunks for rest without any issues .
Remember only crew confident and happy to wear the jumpsuit selected this garment …like me !

I agree, the designs are just ugly. What's up with that red slit in the front? Who thought that was a good idea? Oh right, you said- a man! Of course.

The blouse is quite see through too .

The red flap on the skirt is terrible , the jumpsuit really unflattering . Personally I'd cobble the blouse and skirt but I agree overall it's not very nice .

I don't think it's manly, but it is all rather school uniform, especially with the scarf/tie thing.

To me it looks I’ll fitting the blazer appears to be too small or not sit well round the bust.

I don't like the colours, it won't suit 75% of people.

Apparently Richard Branson used to canvas his staff about the uniform. One day he was walking along catching a flight chatting to some airport crew asking what they thought of the new uniform and they said they didn't like it so he said he'd change it.

How true that is I don't know but I live near the airport so there must a grain of truth!

At first I thought they weren’t that bad, then I scrolled down and saw the men’s and just how much more classy and senior looking they’ve made them. Then I realised what I thought was trousers and a shirt, was a fucking jumpsuit of all things. Yeah, I’d be pissed off too.

I hate the new British Airways uniform too. I want the Julien Macdonald skirt suit back. The new uniform is too mannish and dull and drab. Granted, the new navy skirt is about the best item in the whole range, but even that isn't flawless due to that unsightly red arrow on the front of the skirt.

So is that what BA management said to the crew - that they would be sacked if they refused to wear the new uniform? That's terrible!

I like the dark top/bottom version for the females and think the male one is ok.

The dress is ok. Everything else - including the mens - looks cheap and nasty. That tie is vile and the scarves look bad as well. The skirt suit looks v clunky and the jump suit is impractical. Hopefully there is indeed a decent ladies trouser option!

There are 3 piece suits and 3 piece suits. This one - particularly in sleazy estate agent blue does not look that chic to me. BA have a perfectly nice crew uniform already. I wouldn't want to change to this new one either.

Thanks for your replay. But now, BA HAVE changed their uniform from that lovely, smart Julien MacDonald one they had to a much inferior, drab one. Great pity. I feel very sad for all the female crew who have to wear it.

Totally agree about the unsightly red flap on the skirt. It looks so out of place and detracts from the look of the suit. Why don't they get rid of it?
