To think the new British Airways uniform (announced today) is awful?

The options are either a jumpsuit all in one or what is basically a suit and skirt. The males are fine with their suit but us the girls have been screwed over. Myself and pretty much every other crew member I know think it’s awful, we’ve been told if we don’t agree to wear it then our contracts will be terminated. Nothing feminine about it. Your fine wearing the suit if your a man but us females will look so manly it’s terrible!

Identify as a man, then you get to have proper trousers with really deep pockets. Smile
You could not pay me to wear a stupid jump suit...unless they're expecting you to wear a parachute during the flight too.

You're not wrong @Waterandair they're fugly. I bet they're polyester too.

Female staff can wear trousers, and all staff have been consulted about the uniform changes:

Article from bbc here

And yea, we can wear trousers but that’s not the issue that we have. And I like I said before, BA only consulted the ‘uniform ambassadors’ despite what the BA press office claim.

I don't think it's too bad. It's a lot better than the Virgin Atlantic uniform.

I'd be getting the sewing machine out and turning that jumpsuit into separates if I wasn't allowed to wear trousers with the suit. That skirt is appalling.

That crossed my mind actually. Order the size up and much longer to give you extra snip/stitch room.

caravanbuckie · 06/01/2023 16:42

There is a trouser option for women.

Sidge · 06/01/2023 16:42

I read on BBC news website that they do have a trousers option.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/01/2023 16:42

The dress looks nice, and I actually like the scarf.

I wouldn't fancy having a skirt with a big red arrow pointing to my groin though.

schoolworries22 · 06/01/2023 16:20

What would you have preferred if you'd been consulted?

The current uniform.

If we choose trousers it has to be the men’s trousers.

TBH I think the Jumpsuit looks the best (I hadnt thought of the toilet issues though) Surely if enough people are unhappy they may rethink ?.May be worth a try .Red and blue are BA colours ,so I suppose the designer thought they would work?

Horrible and very old fashioned

This

The skirt is horrible but the dress and jumpsuit are ok. I wouldn't choose to buy them - they wouldn't suit me.

Nooooo I love the Virgin one.

Seriously! That's bonkers that there isn't actually a pair of trousers included in the women's uniform options.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/01/2023 16:47

It's like a kick pleat I suppose, but it doesn't look great on the skirt. It's far too open. It looks ok on the dress.

smileladiesplease · 06/01/2023 16:47

Agree op it's hideous. Hate jumpsuits anyway remind me of Annika Rice jumping out of helecopters.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 06/01/2023 16:47

Who on earth designs a jumpsuit as cabin crew uniform?
Answer= A man who is never going to try to go to negotiate undoing it while not letting it touch a filthy toilet floor all within the confines of a broom cupboard.
That's just ridiculous
When I think back to my travel agent days in the 80's we has some shockers! But that does all look a bit old fashioned.

Is anyone seriously going to opt for the jumpsuit? Who on earth wants to do a complete strip every time they have a wee? Have they thought about how much working time will get lost that way?

Piggywaspushed · 06/01/2023 16:48

'The designer' is Ozwald Boateng!!

Sallytobleroney · 06/01/2023 16:48

Won't the scarf dangle down into peoples dinners and cups of tea?

SapatSea · 06/01/2023 16:49

The scarf is silly- it'll fall forward and dangle in food and drinks as they are being served - unhygenic. The skirt with the pleat at the front is very 1980's hate the red interior.

NursieBernard · 06/01/2023 16:49

It's just a work uniform though. I have to wear what basically looks like a pair of green pyjamas. As longs as its practical and comfortable that's all that matters to me.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 06/01/2023 16:49

Corporate uniform is shit. What's new?
